WELCOME TO RUM PUNCH: “Rum Punch” is located on South Staniel Cay, a 12 minute walk from the Staniel Cay Yacht Club and 3 minute walk from the Iles General Store and dinghy dock which is just south of the airport. Our comfortably furnished 4 bedroom house (sleeps 9) has ceiling fans and AC units in every room with water views and lovely tropical plantings.
RUM PUNCH SECOND FLOOR PLAN: The vaulted ceiling second floor has the master suite with queen bed and full jacuzzis bath, an open living/ dining room and kitchen flanked by east and west screened porches with ceiling fan / lights, south facing and surround decks. The teak-countered kitchen is truly gourmet equipped with dishwasher and all necessary appliances. A webber barbecue is on outside the deck. There is a large desk, bookshelves stocked with good reads and games, VHF marine band radio, stereo system, phone and internet.
RUM PUNCH GROUND FLOOR PLAN: There are 3 bedrooms on the ground floor. The south room has 3 twins, the middle has a queen and the north has 2 twins. There is an entry lounge, laundry facility full bath with shower and a half bath. The furnished entry deck looks our at the garden with a spacious private outside shower.
RUM PUNCH CARETAKER: Berkie Rolle is our caretaker and owner of "Isles General Store" / dock just down the street. He rents golf carts, boats and bikes. Burke and Vivian Rolle’s number is 242-355-2007.
RUM PUNCH NOTES: Tap water is made from the town watermaker and we have our own filter (UV and particulate) system. You may shower to your “heart’s content” outside but be sparing with flushing and showering indoors as Bahamian septic systems cannot handle large flows.
In addition to being a lovely house, it is perfectly appointed with all the comforts of home. The rooms were all spacious with cozy beds and a/c units to keep us cool. The living area was spacious and the kitchen had every imaginable gadget and pan for cooking. The porches were screened and breezy too.
The location is close to the few destinations you will want to access: the market, the airport and the yacht club. They are walking distance (15 min to yacht club) but a golf cart is highly recommended (4-5 min on cart.). Rum Punch was wonderful!
We stayed at Rum Punch for a weekend in March 2014 and loved it. The house is set up high so you have a beautiful view and can catch the island breeze whichever side it's coming from. It has all the modern conveniences you would expect, including fast Internet for the online junkies out there (one of the people in our group needed to make a conference call on the arrival day and it worked well). We brought our own food along and either cooked in the fully stocked kitchen or used the BBQ outside.
It's a short walk to the closest beach, the airport and to the general store. About 12 or 15 minutes to the yacht club, depending which way you go, if you want to go for drinks or a meal.
We hired a motorboat from the general store to see the swimming pigs and to Thunderball grotto, both were amazing! Then we putted around some other islands for the rest of the day and found deserted beaches to chill on.
The caretakers, Mr and Mrs Rolle were very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. Overall a very relaxing time in a stunning environment, I would definitely recommend it
