Have a vacation to remember at the Beech - our cozy cabin in the woods offers it all!

This beautiful stone and wood cabin built in 2005 is the perfect get away for couples or families who want to explore all that the High Country in North Carolina has to offer. Located about 2 miles from Ski Beech and 6 miles from Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, there is always something for everyone, regardless of the time of year you choose to visit.

Take a 5 minute drive to the top of Beech Mountain and enjoy the spectacular views. Hit the slopes in the winter or visit Fred's Mercantile Store in the spring, summer and fall and pick up a Beech Mountain Trail map to explore the many hiking, disc golf, and biking trails on the mountain. Take a Yoga class at "5506, or enjoy live music at the Brewery. You can have it all.

It is easy to access all of the local outposts to join a day trip for rafting, rappelling, kayaking or river tubing in the summer. There are also other wonderful attractions all within driving distance such as Hawksnest Ziplining, Grandfather Mountain, Worley's Cave, Linville Caverns, Banner Elk Winery, blueberry fields, horseback riding, and many, many more! So much to do, so little time!!

When you get to the cabin, the first thing you will notice is the wonderful stone walls and hard wood flooring. The living room area is beautifully decorated in a cabin theme and the gas fireplace is the perfect accessory! The first floor also has a full bathroom, fully equiped kitchen and a laundry room with washer and dryer.

The second floor has 2 spacious bedrooms with large closets. The first bedroom has room for a crib, pack n play, or small pet crate. The second bedroom has a balcony with a 6 person hot tub to relax those muscles after a long day of hiking or skiing!

Just minutes from the historic town of Banner Elk, and 30 minutes from Boone, home of Appalachian State University, it is easy to enjoy the dining and shopping choices in the local areas. Blowing Rock is right down the road with all kinds of wonderful cultural activities as well. Get out and explore the High Country or stay in with all the comfy conveniences of home!

Kerin, We had a wonderful weekend! Thanks so much for allowing us to stay at your cozy cabin. MY wife and I had a very relaxing stay during our time there. The cabin was very clean and very nicely arranged. We will look forward to another stay down the road. Thanks again for the quick responses and needed info.

Perfect spot for our family and pet!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay for three nights at Tall Timbers! Kerin made it simple for us to arrive and get settled on our own, the home was perfectly clean, and had super easy in and out. We were visiting to ski, and the home is situated in between Sugar and Beech. We are a family of 5, children are 12, 11 and 8, and I would highly recommend this to any families traveling with younger children!

Mountain Getaway

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed Tall Timbers very much! Loved the rock walls inside the cabin. The hot tub was nice and clean and loved having it right outside the bedroom door. We had a little trouble figuring out that the fireplace WAS the heat for the whole house, but once we figured it out, it was fine. :) Everything was very clean! Thank you for your hospitality!!

Terrific 3 night stay, had every comfort of home. Spotless upon arrival!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time to the area/skiing Beech Mtn. The house was a perfect 'middle' location...a quick 10 min drive up to Beech Mtn Resort, and an easy 10 min drive down into Banner Elk.

The house was super clean and cozy; the gas fireplace kept us toasty both downstairs and up in the bedrooms. Soaking in the hot tub after a day of skiing was a treat; plenty of privacy since the house is tucked back in a wooded area off the main road.

It snowed ~3 inches our last night, topping off a terrific vacation in the NC mountains. Too bad we couldn't stay and ski another day after a fresh snow.

And, being able to bring our dog was bonus!

Overall it was an ok place to stay.

  • 3 of 5

Convenient to town & we were lucky to get a place that allowed dogs at the last minute. The negatives were:

The only bathroom was downstairs & since the bedrooms were upstairs, made going to the bathroom in the middle of the night more of a challenge.

The place was heated by an electric fireplace which made the downstairs comfortable but the upstairs was unbearably hot.

Something got into our packaged food we had on the counter.

Other than that, the place was clean.

Owner's Response: Oh! I am sorry you had an invited guest for the Holidays! You never know who might show up for dinner in the mountains. We have several special areas for the little critters so they can avoid getting into others' food however, some are clever and find a way around this. Hopefully the instructions on how to control the heat are clear but I will look and see if there is anything I can do to help the next guest understand how to avoid the upstairs overheating. Happy Holidays, we always welcome repeat renters back with a courtesy discount on your next stay. Kerin and Sharon
