Tall Timbers Cabin - The Perfect Get Away!

Bedrooms 2
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

Have a vacation to remember at the Beech - our cozy cabin in the woods offers it all!

This beautiful stone and wood cabin built in 2005 is the perfect get away for couples or families who want to explore all that the High Country in North Carolina has to offer. Located about 2 miles from Ski Beech and 6 miles from Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, there is always something for everyone, regardless of the time of year you choose to visit.

Take a 5 minute drive to the top of Beech Mountain and enjoy the spectacular views. Hit the slopes in the winter or visit Fred's Mercantile Store in the spring, summer and fall and pick up a Beech Mountain Trail map to explore the many hiking, disc golf, and biking trails on the mountain. Take a Yoga class at "5506, or enjoy live music at the Brewery. You can have it all.

It is easy to access all of the local outposts to join a day trip for rafting, rappelling, kayaking or river tubing in the summer. There are also other wonderful attractions all within driving distance such as Hawksnest Ziplining, Grandfather Mountain, Worley's Cave, Linville Caverns, Banner Elk Winery, blueberry fields, horseback riding, and many, many more! So much to do, so little time!!

When you get to the cabin, the first thing you will notice is the wonderful stone walls and hard wood flooring. The living room area is beautifully decorated in a cabin theme and the gas fireplace is the perfect accessory! The first floor also has a full bathroom, fully equiped kitchen and a laundry room with washer and dryer.

The second floor has 2 spacious bedrooms with large closets. The first bedroom has room for a crib, pack n play, or small pet crate. The second bedroom has a balcony with a 6 person hot tub to relax those muscles after a long day of hiking or skiing!

Just minutes from the historic town of Banner Elk, and 30 minutes from Boone, home of Appalachian State University, it is easy to enjoy the dining and shopping choices in the local areas. Blowing Rock is right down the road with all kinds of wonderful cultural activities as well. Get out and explore the High Country or stay in with all the comfy conveniences of home!

Although not required, it is highly recommended to have a 4wheel drive vehicle during the winter months. The city is responsible for getting the main roads cleaned up after a snow or ice event, but the driveway can prove tricky. Our local resource gets there as soon as he can to scrape the driveway however, if you are on a time schedule and don't want to wait for him, it is better to have a 4wheel drive or to park at the top of the driveway in the stone lot to the left.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Kerin, We had a wonderful weekend! Thanks so much for allowing us to stay at your cozy cabin. MY wife and I had a very relaxing stay during our time there. The cabin was very clean and very nicely arranged. We will look forward to another stay down the road. Thanks again for the quick responses and needed info.

1. Sign for cabin is sometimes hard to see - there is one on a post and one in the tree on either side of the top of the driveway. '2. Please be advised that a 4 wheel drive vehicle is highly recommended during the winter season! Although the City is responsible for plowing the main roads, the driveway can be tricky! If you do not have a 4wheel, you can always park the vehicle at the top of the driveway,

Cozy and warm!!!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed here 3 times and we love it!! Cabin is beautiful inside and out. My boys love it and the puppies do too. It is so nice to sit in the hot tub and watch the snow. Great location near Fred’s, sledding and the ski slopes. We saw deer in the driveway this time. We will definitely return! Would love to see it in the summertime! I highly recommend it as it is just as pictured.

Best family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the cabin over New Years 2017/2018. Our family had never been to the area and our 3 children had never been skiing or snowboarding before. The location to both Beech and Sugar Mountain are amazing. Kerrin was available to answer any questions. The fireplace was a nice touch and quickly heated the entire house. We stayed during some of the coldest temps of the year. 5 degrees was the hight a couple of days. We decided to have most of our meals at the cabin. There are few restaurants in town but we did not feel the quality was worth the price nor the wait. The hot tub was a nice treat at the end of a long day on the slopes. We will definitely consider this home when traveling to the area again in the future. Thank you Kerrin for a great time.

Really Nice Area, Great Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful Cabin, great stay. Surrounding area is really nice, safe and plenty to do in a short drive away. Using the hot tub while it was snowing was just awesome to us. Totally recommend staying here and thank you for having us.

A heads up for newcomers: hidden drive to the cabin, (steep downward turn that is tough to see) and Snow...we came to see snow and were not disappointed, but being from Florida, I was unsure about snow and the front wheel drive vehicle we came in. I should have stuck to my instinct, not have parked at the bottom of that steep drive, but I also didn't know I could park at the top. Luckily the owner called a neighbor who came and smushed the little bit of snow I was sliding on and kindly helped my family out of there. That meant a lot to us.

The Banner Elk area was entertaining, a little more tourist-y than I thought it would be, but lots for a family to do nearby. Snow Tubing, Skiing, Gem Mining and we even checked out the old Mast General Store . We don't care to eat out much, so a food Lion nearby and a well equipped kitchen helped take care of that.

Great time!

Tall Timbers cabin was the perfect warm and comfortable retreat I was looking in a great location.

  • 5 of 5

I was looking for a quiet cabin to spend time with my family to enjoy that was close to some North Carolina skiing and pet friendly. Tall Timbers cabin was perfect. Warm and comfortable to return to after some skiing at both Beech and Sugar resorts and an adventure to Grand Father Mountain. The perfect location to enjoy all the area has to offer. The cabin was exactly as described and well maintained. The reservation and stay all went smoothly and was the perfect family vacation I was looking for.

Perfect Cabin for a Perfect Week Stay

  • 5 of 5

First time using VRBO and I can say it went very well! It was me and my boyfriend first trip away together and we couldn't have picked a more perfect cabin. Charming and Cozy would be how I would be describe it and it was perfect for what we were doing for our weeks stay. Being right on Beech Mountain it made going to Snowboard super quick and pain free, and the Hot Tub really helped relax our muscles after a long day out on the slopes! (Hot Tub was clean and well kept) Only negative was there were 2 pieces missing to the puzzle but oh well haha

Also at first was hard to find because address given by owner is 126 and on main road there is not a post sign that has that number and the "Tall Timbers" sign can only be seen if going down the road and not up it, so probably need to just turn the sign around and maybe explain a bit better for directions. We came in a little later so it was dark and it just made finding it a bit more fun :) Also Drive way is a bit narrow and if neighbors don't park right it can make turning around a bit harder which we had to deal with for 3 of the days we were there.

But all in all I am going to be saving this cabin for if we take another trip up! Very Satisfied with our Entire Stay, Thank You

Coziest cabin

Beautifully decorated. Loved loved the fireplace! Secluded near a creek and lots of natural landscapes. Even had a deer visit us and had some snow flurries the day we left. Banner Ellis a quaint little town. Would love to come back.
