Description

Tararua Forest Park House Rental Photos and Description

Bach or holiday home, 0 Bedrooms, 1 Bathrooms, (Sleeps 2)

Experience the romance of life a hundred years ago in our little pioneer cottage.

Just 8km from Masterton, the cottage sits overlooking our private lagoon and the workings of our sheep and beef farm. In summer the lagoon dries up but there are still the 360 degree views of the mountains, hills and Wairarapa plains.

Built entirely of recycled materials the cottage is now home to many precious heirlooms gifted by family and friends, beginning with its beautiful stain glass front door.

No television or microwave but you have the convenience of a gas hob and latterns.

The cottage is very cosy and warmed in winter by a little pot belly. The flush loo and the bath under the stars are both one step off the deck.

The icebox will cool your wine for a drink on the verandah and if you don't wish to cook dinner on your night away then it's a short drive into town where there is a rich array of restaurants.

Your tariff includes a breakfast basket and fine linen. Upon deposit I will email you an information sheet with driving directions.

Special conditions:

Smoking allowed outside only.

Extras: Linen (included); NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave;

The cottage blew us away; everything was period perfect. The cottage is perfectly secluded with great views, the potbelly fire put out plenty of heat and the outdoor bathtub was fantastic! We simply couldn?t have asked for more. Will definitely be returning!

Absolutely beautiful place to stay. Outdoor bath is amazing with instant hot water. We loved all the detailing inside, you can see all the love and thought that has gone into creating Pioneer Cottage. A great place to get away from it all

The cottage is simply amazing! Very close to town, but was very quiet and felt far away from everyone.

Can't wait to go back!

Pioneer cottage was a true escape, a cosy cocoon from sub-zero July temperatures.

Pioneer cottage was a true escape, a cosy cocoon from sub-zero July temperatures. It's well insulated with an effective pot belly fire. It had lovely linen and was thoughtfully decorated. It was a fantastic pioneer experience and I especially enjoyed some of the reading material including the book on NZ pioneer women! Initially hesitant about an outdoor bath on a cold winter's morning, it was absolutely worth it and very relaxing. We enjoyed the quiet setting and would definitely recommend it.
