We have been married for 29 years and enjoy taking car trips. The drive from New Orleans to Dandridge is lovely and though we love New Orleans unconditionally we also love our home in Dandridge and treasure our time there. Our three children are happy to spend time enjoying the beauty of Peacewood.
Kathy Garaudy purchased this cabin in 2011
After looking at over 50 homes in Tennessee and North Caroliina, the minute we saw Peacwood we knew it was the home for us. With both lake and mountain views and the fabulous living area that could accommodate a large extended family like ours we were sold. We thoroughly enjoy the lake and have had many enjoyable hours skiing, swimming and just riding around in a boat, amazed by the scenery.
One of the best things about Peacewood is the sunsets. They are spectacular. And we love viewing the wildlife. We never know if we will see deer running about or eagles soaring overhead.
Peacewood is exactly what you might imagine, and more! What a great, secluded get away where our family could unplug. We enjoyed every second of the stay from the sunsets (more beautiful than the picture even shows) to the evening thunderstorm and lightning show. The hot tub and fire pit were enjoyed quite a bit while the screened in porch was a favorite of all. We also loved the cozy fireplace and the well-stocked kitchen. And although we felt like we were in our own mountain paradise, a hike in the Great Smoky National Park was only a quick drive away. We hope to make it back again next year! Thank you!
Peacewood is a beautiful, well equipped cabin in an idealistic setting. We met there with our two grown children and their families, including our four granddaughters. My wife is a stickler for detail when planning a family gathering like this. We were in frequent contact with the owner who quickly responded to our every question. In the cabin we found high end appliances from the refrigerator that could handle the feast for 10 down to the electric carving knife for our turkey. When we arrived we were surprised to find fresh flowers and a gift basket that included something for everyone. Any issues we had with the cabin were quickly and completely resolved. The owner, Kathy, kept in contact to make sure we were happy. We had plenty of dishes, glasses, silverware and seating for the 10 of us. We arrived expecting to make a lot of adjustments since were were not at home, but this was like a home away from home. The information on the VRBO site was a little off in that there are no bunk beds upstairs. There are queen size beds in each upstairs room as well as two single beds that are stored trundle style, with one being pulled out from under the other. Our youngest granddaughters loved the secret playroom which kept them happy and occupied. There is wifi in the cabin, but is is a little slow, probably satellite. Still, since we were expecting nothing, is was a nice surprise and we didn't have to use our wireless data plans. We had a good view of the lake and enjoyed our early evenings on the screened in porch looking out over the lake. Peacewood is aptly named and is highly recommended to all.
My friends and I absolutely loved our stay here! There were 12 of us total, but the house was so spacious and accommodated us all well. We loved grilling on the back porch and sipping our coffee watching the sunset on the side screened in porch. Kathy was very helpful before our arrival, giving us clear instructions and great recommendations for the area. We would definitely love to visit this beautiful cabin again!
Adorable cabin, great views, wonderful stay. Will book again.
We just returned from a 1 week stay in Dandridge! The home was beautiful. The home was truly decorated to feel like a home which we so appreciated..the views were gorgeous of the lake! This house has everything you need. We kept our boats at Swann marina which I highly recommend for boaters. The Point told us they would have room for our boats but when we arrived on our first day they told us they were booked and responded "sorry nothing we can do." Go to the Swann they literally moved boats around to accommodate us! WONDERFUL people! Peacewood is only about 20 minutes drive from the marina!
The screened in porch at Peacewood was wonderful, my only recommendation is to perhaps add a large dining table out there so that family's could eat outside and enjoy the view!
Our only issue was that we were traveling with 4 kids under the age of 8. When you get out of the cars in the driveway there is a very dangerous drop off on one side. I'm wondering if maybe some sort of fence could be added there to prevent any catastrophic situation. This didn't cause any issues for us we just kept a very close eye on the kids and didn't let them play outside unattended. We would return again in a heartbeat!!!!
Thank you for sharing your home with us! We all said we would love to come back in the fall to see the beautiful leaves turn!
Sometimes with VRBO your stay is hit or miss. This place was a grand slam!! Very roomy, private, had everything you needed and the screen porch was great... oh and the hot tub! The family was very easy to work with and everything went off without a hitch.
This beautiful cabin is near Pigeon Forge and Gatlingburg with endless hours of fun for the whole family. Also near Dollywood and Splash Country and just minutes from Great Smoky Mountain National Park!
