We have been married for 27 years and enjoy taking car trips. The drive from New Orleans to Dandridge is lovely and though we love New Orleans unconditionally we also love our home in Dandridge and treasure our time there. Our three children are happy to spend time enjoying the beauty of Peacewood.
Kathy Garaudy purchased this cabin in 2011
After looking at over 50 homes in Tennessee and North Caroliina, the minute we saw Peacwood we knew it was the home for us. With both lake and mountain views and the fabulous living area that could accommodate a large extended family like ours we were sold. We thoroughly enjoy the lake and have had many enjoyable hours skiing, swimming and just riding around in a boat, amazed by the scenery.
One of the best things about Peacewood is the sunsets. They are spectacular. And we love viewing the wildlife. We never know if we will see deer running about or eagles soaring overhead.
We loved Peacewood, it is a nature lovers dream. As we were sitting in the screened in porch one evening a Bald Eagle flew so close we were struck speechless. It is very quiet and calming. It feels very secluded but it was a fairly short drive to all the local attractions. Pigeon Forge, Gatlinsburg. and Dollywood. I must say the people of Tennessee are all very friendly, ready to point you in the right direction if you get turned around. LOL. We had a great time exploring the area. The smokey mountains are an incredible sight.
Thanks for sharing your home with us.
Our stay at the cabin in Dandrige will always be remembered as a wonderful vacation spot for our family. My sister and two grandchildren greatly enjoyed our 2 day stay in the cabin. The cabin setup was very nicely decorated and comfortable. We enjoyed the many extras that came with our stay such as the beautiful views, screened in large patio, hot tub, full kitchen and laundry set up. We plan to return in the future when possible. Thanks so much for the great memories shared with my family. Sincerely, Sandra, Terry, Faith and Elijah.
We stayed at Peacewood for our honeymoon. It was an amazing week. The pictures of the cabin do not do it justice. It is beautiful, clean and well equipped with everything we needed. I loved the decor and it was close enough to tourist attractions for day outings, yet far enough away to not have to deal with the sounds of tourist. The view of the lake and sunsets were breathtaking.
The cabin was so clean that even my 'clean freak' husband could not find anything to clean (LOL). The water in the cabin had the smell of sulphur the first day but it dissipated as the water was used.
The only complaint other than the sulphur smell, is the two pitbull dogs that constantly hung out especially while we were cooking and eating. I could not tell if they were friendly but my husband is not a fan of dogs so that was a sore spot. They whined and scratched at the door for food.
We did not see any wildlife around the cabin, perhaps due to the dogs. Also, since we were not sure if they were friendly, we did not go out walking like we had planned.
We brought our boat with us and there was plenty of room in the driveway to keep it secure. The closest boat ramp was about 15 miles away and it was not usable after a rain due to mud, but that was fine as we used that time to go into Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.
We at dinner one night at the Old Mill Restaurant and saw the Motown Soul show at the Grand Majestic Theater. Both were great!
Overall, the place was amazing, and I would recommend it to friends and family. There is plenty of room for a large crowd and yet comfy enough for two…..
The owners are so hospitable and answered so many questions! We walked into the house and immediately fell in love with it. In the evening, we sat out on the screened in porch and watched the most beautiful sunset and reveled in the peace and tranquility. We had some family join us on Friday and Saturday and their comments echoed ours.
Everything worked well and the kitchen is very well stocked. Nice fluffy towels!!! Comfortable beds!!! and did I mention the quiet and spectacular views!
We will be back.
The cabin was very clean and large enough for our family of four. The rooms were very nice as well. My husband and I traveled with our sons 9 and 12 who took advantage of the games and gaming table. There were a few things that needed updated or replaced. The pans in the kitchen are in bad shape. The protective coating on several are missing from poor use from previous renters I suppose. This made cooking breakfast a challenge. The master does not have a closet to hang clothing. There was a small rack behind the door that was less than ideal and had to be moved to the laundry room. Every remote upstairs in the kid area had to have new batteries. We replaced those and left the extra batteries for the next group. The gaming table has suffered some abuse and is flimsy. I was afraid my boys would break it so I had them stop using it. The tub upstairs did not drain very well and the main light by the shower was not working upstairs. Even with all of this our stay was AMAZING!! We loved every minute of it. There was not much of a lake view but what we did see it was nice. The screened porch was our favorite spot each morning and each evening. The cabin was decorated beautifully and all linens were easily located. I would stay here again for sure! We loved the tree top view!
This beautiful cabin is near Pigeon Forge and Gatlingburg with endless hours of fun for the whole family. Also near Dollywood and Splash Country and just minutes from Great Smoky Mountain National Park!
