Saint Augustine Bungalow Rental Photos and Description

3 Bed / 2 Bath, Sleeps 6, Front Porch, 3 Car Parking, Near Beach, Francis Field

This is a recently renovated and updated property / Reserve Now While Weeks Are Still Available

Welcome to our Old City Bungalow. Built in 1889 its original ambiance and craftsmanship remains evident today. This 120+ years young cottage is a mix of layers of local history with all the comforts of our modern age. A beautiful serene gem just outside of the lights and action of the tourist part of the city yet just a short (5 minute) walk away, the best of both worlds awaits you here. Park your car and leave it, you don’t need it much at all.

Three comfortable bedrooms can comfortably sleep up to 6 guests. There are two master suites. One master has a king bed and full bath, the second master suite has a queen. The third bedroom has two twin beds. These two rooms share the second full bath.

The kitchen is fully equipped with quality cooking in mind if you need it, but don’t forget in minutes you can be eating almost any cuisine you can image with a short walk in any direction. The white picket fence gives the property a southern plantation style all it’s own. Plenty of parking off the street which is rare in this city. The beautiful deep overhang wrap-around porch is a favorite. It’s perfect for watching the natural surroundings and enjoying that hot or cold beverage day or night, rain or shine.

Step inside the glass filled front door and into the window-lined sun room and see the next favorite spot with a comfy leather recliner surrounded by historic photos and antiquities from our local area. The view from here is always tranquil and pleasant.

Vintage plaster walls encompass the living room space for chilling out, reading or socializing. The antique heartwood flooring shows a history all its own and above there’s a dramatic honey-hued vaulted ceiling that gives the room a beautiful dimension. The room has no TV or radio, keeping things like they were, a hundred years before.

Through the doorway of the past and into the futuristic media room where state of the art entertainment awaits you on a large screen HDTV, sound system, Blue-Ray DVD, high speed WiFi internet, home automation controls and a rack of popular DVDs to enjoy. Comfortable entertainment for a gathering of family and friends is all here.

For more outdoor space, check out the large raised deck in the back with plenty of seating for everyone in a quiet shady corner. On the other side, a smaller raised deck is perfect for using the BBQ right off the kitchen and looking out over the garden.

A perfect home base for your St. Augustine vacation with a superb Walk Score of 78! While we understand the busy family schedules may keep some from booking a full week or more, you’ll get the best experience and best value if you don’t rush through your stay and settle in as residents for a while. Call or email us if you’re unsure about anything, we hope to see you soon.

About Rob & Lisa

Our family spent the past 10+ years vacationing in St. Augustine mostly in summer beach condos. It grew from a few days to a week or more. We'd visit the city many times but always had trouble finding a place to park the car, circling the parking lots, paying those meters, stuck in traffic during any event. Once parked, we walked everywhere. We also found it was hard to see and do everything we wanted in any one week vacation. It was painful to pack up and leave. The beach seemed warm enough only a few months a year so the city gave more fun opportunities. We wanted a vintage bungalow because of the single floor and a front porch ambiance. This was a rare find.

Rob & Lisa purchased this bungalow in 2013

Why Rob & Lisa chose St. Augustine Area

This property has the culture of the historic city, nearby beaches, golf and boating, and a phenomenal WalkScore because of what surrounds it without the need for driving. We felt that was a major factor in choosing the location because it’s healthy and practical. The house is spacious enough for a good size family to actually live comfortably for extended periods and huge compared to the tiny B&B rooms. We were lucky and blessed to be at the right place and time to invest in this gem of the Old City, but it needed major restoration, TLC, blood, sweat and tears to transform it into what is is today. A year long renovation and improvement project results in what we now enjoy the most and can share with you.

What makes this bungalow unique

It’s all about location - location - location! The home is centrally located in the city of St. Augustine in the northern section called UpTown. Built in 1889 and expanded in the early 1900’s, it’s in the center of what the city offers and most everything is just a short walk. The home is a fusion of beautiful turn of the century period architecture and materials now renovated and updated with state-of-the-art technology and comfort for today's vacation traveler. From the most unique antique shops, art galleries, the fort, St. George street, the historical sites, Francis Field, the winery, the beautiful waterfront, more restaurants than you can imagine, or fast food if you wish, all without using your car, without looking for and paying for a place to park. To catch some sun or waves, the beach is a short five minute drive. Experience what it is to live as a resident in the oldest city in America. It’s no wonder the early settlers founded, developed and fought to hold on to this unique piece of Florida coastline.

Historic City Bungalow

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriends and I met in St Augustine at the Historic City Bungalow for a week in July and had a wonderful time. The bungalow was perfect for our needs. All we needed was food and drinks as everything we needed for preparation was available. Rob and Lisa called us the first night to make sure we got settled and if we had any questions about the bungalow. Through the week they would check with us if we needed anything or had any questions. They were wonderful to work with and I will stay there again if we are in that area again.

We purchased a 3day ticket for the trolley and rode that the first day to hear the history of the city. We were there during tourist season and could not get on the trolley at the stops close to the house so we walked and found that the house was really close to the attractions. So if you like to walk all you need is the trolley for the one day if you want to see what attractions there are, the history and where they are. We loved St. George St. Most venues had live music which was always enjoyable to listen to.

wonderful relaxing vacation!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I vacationed in this wonderful bungalow with our teenage son and his girlfriend. It was a great decision that we made to stay in this bungalow. It gave all of us the space we needed having 3 bedrooms and 2 living areas. The bungalow is within walking distance to downtown which felt very safe and we were never worried about the teenagers walking alone to restaurants and shopping. Some of the best restaurants (Collage was our favorite) were within walking distance which added to the relaxing feel of the vacation. The bungalow has everything you could possibly need for your stay and the owners checked on us more than once to be sure that we did not need anything. I would highly recommend staying here if you want to be able to walk to all that St. Augustine has to offer! We will definitely return.

Convenient and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriends and I shared a few days together at this great Bungalow. It was clean, very comfortable, in a quiet neighborhood yet within walking distance to restaurants, shops and historical places. A couple little things that I totally appreciated were labeled light switches, plenty of outlets, clocks in bedrooms, refrigerator with ice/water dispenser and a wonderful porch where we relaxed and chatted while watching birds and squirrels flitting about. You will be totally pleased staying here!

Charming and inviting, CLEAN, and well located!

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we entered Rob and Lisa's bungalow we knew that we had chosen well! Everything was perfectly clean and well organized. The beds were comfy, with quality linens. There were plenty of towels, etc. We both love to cook and the kitchen was fully stocked. There was nothing we looked for that we couldn't find! They even provided K cups for the Keurig coffeemaker, and snacks if you got hungry between meals! We loved the porches! We sat out each afternoon with our wine--just watching the world go by, and waiting for a visit from Buddy, the neighbor's cat! The porch seating was very comfortable, also! The bungalow is truly within walking distance to Olde Towne, and that is the best way to get there. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and when we return to St. Augustine for a visit, we would definitely return to Rob and Lisa's little slice of heaven!

Saint Augustine Perfection

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Rob & Lisa's charming St Augustine home. The layout worked perfectly for our multi-generation group (grandparents, parents, child). The location was close enough that we could walk to many historic sites. Enjoyed meeting the neighbors. We would stay here again!

A wonderful, cozy home in St Augustine

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at this location at the end of March, 2016. I communicated with Rob, the VRBO owner, at various times. He was always available and helpful. It was obvious that Rob and Lisa put much thought into this home. Our family needed to only bring personal items, clothes, and groceries. Everything else was already available when we arrived. The neighborhood was quiet and location was great for various activities. We are a family of five, three children from ages 2 to 8 years of age. We walked to the Castillo de San Marcos; however, I recommend a stroller for small children if the plan is to spend a significant amount of time downtown. We went biking around several state parks in the area. In addition, we went to Anastasia State Park enjoying much time at a beautiful beach surrounded by a nature preserve. This bungalow felt like home returning from our various outings. We will definitely return to this rental in the future.

---------------------- Easy Walk to --------------------

* Francis Field events - The events there are extremely popular with residents and visitors. Getting there by car is not fun during these events and often impossible as parking sells out. Our house is the perfect home base for attendees, vendors, or exhibitors to these events being a 2 minute walk away.

* Most Bars and Pubs are really close (walk don’t drive!) - about 7 to 15 min. scenic walk.

* Most shops, galleries, sights and restaurants in the city are less than a 15 min. radius walk.

* Red Train / Trolley stop which shuttles throughout the city - If you’re short on time or not comfortable with extended walking, this is a great transportation method. Fun and informative too. If you've never been to St. Augustine before, this is a great way to get the lay of the land and prioritize the places you want to see more of during your stay.

* Visitor Information Center - 5 min. A must see stop for all St. Augustine newbies. Go here on day 1 to discover and plan the other things you might want to do.

* Rental store for fun cars, scooters, bikes, strollers - 5 min walk. We haven’t done this yet but we see people who have and are driving around the town having loads of fun. Bikes would be a nice addition to your exploration range and easy to park.

* Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum - 6 min.walk away. Built in the 1880’s this castle is a very popular attraction especially if you like strange, weird, often frightening things. We also enjoyed a ghost train option that tours the museum at night. Lot’s of fun there.

* Main hub of antique shops - 6 min. walk through tree-lined residential old city charm gets you here. Always an interesting mix of things at the many shops along San Marco Ave. If you book a rental on the last Saturday of the month - don’t miss the monthly “Uptown Saturday Night”, the open house event for most shops and galleries along San Marco with live music, free wine and refreshment samples, a fun party like atmosphere, 5-9 pm.

* The Village Inn restaurant - We love to eat breakfast here! It’s so close that it always just works for us. Free slice of pie on Wednesday too. I suggest arriving a little early to beat the crowds on the weekends, have a nice meal then take a walk.

* St. George St City Gates - 8 min. walk. If you take only one photograph in St. Augustine, the signature stone towers of the original city border is here for the past 200+ years. Then stroll down St. George st. for history, shops, eating and drinking. You’ll always see something different and interesting day or night.

* Mission of Nombre de Dios - 9 min. Ready for peace and tranquility, it’s here and a place of ancient history. The mission was founded in 1565. A great photo spot and one of our favorite areas to walk off a big breakfast. You can easily find solitude if needed. Acres of beautiful space to enjoy.

* Castillo de San Marcos fort - 9 min. Completed in 1695, the coquina was quarried from nearby Anastasia Island. Great views from the top and the cannon firings can be heard throughout the city. Spend an hour or two.

* Flagler College Tour - You’ll be thinking Harry Potter’s Hogwarts, but the tour is excellent and yes it’s a college but the essence is the jaw dropping architectural beauty of what the Henry Flagler era brought to this town.

* Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist historical churches - about a 12 min. walk. All worth a visit, all within a block or two from each other.

* Horse and Carriage rides - several locations, it’s super romantic!

* Farmers Markets - Saturdays 8:30-12:30 Old City Farmers Market at the amphitheater (parking is limited, arrive earlier than later); Sundays 11-3 (except Aug and Sept) the Lincolnville Farmers' Market is at Eddie Vickers Park.

--------------------------- Easy Drive to -----------------------------

* Vilano Beach - 3 miles drive - less commercial, less crowded, more natural, St Aug Beach - 5 miles - can drive, walk or bike for miles, nearest entrance to drive on beach is the A street ramp which flows traffic south to Ocean Trace Rd. and beyond.

* St Augustine Lighthouse - 2 miles drive - Fabulous climb and view, the surrounding grounds are beautiful and interesting. The kids will love this too!. It’s a gotta do event, there are also sunset and ghost hunting activities there at night.

* Cobblestone Village Shopping - 3 miles

* Epic Movie Theater - 3 miles

* St Augustine Outlets Mall - 60 stores - 7 miles

* St Augustine Premium Outlet Mall, 85 stores - 8 miles - You could easily spend a day (or two) between the two Malls here and they are minutes from each other.

* World Golf Village / Imax Theater - 15 miles - We've seen Imax films here several times. If you can catch a 3D film release there, it’s even more awesome!

* Marineland Dolphin Adventure - 19 miles
