Beautiful Property, But Managed From Afar

  • 4 of 5

The UP doesn't disappoint! Beautiful scenery and clean lake. The lake is definitely made for boating, as it is too mucky to swim right off the dock. The kayaks were a great addition to our stay and we used rafts to get to the middle of the lake to swim. The cabin was fine but you can tell the owners manage this property from a location a few hours away. It appeared that they get it ready at the beginning of the season, and may not check in on it after that. The propane tanks were empty, the grill had a leak so it didn't work properly, there was only one trash bag (for our week stay), and the paddle boat was unusable. We had to fix the grill, buy trash bags, and fill the tanks. The paddle boat has only one seat, so we didn't take it out. These were minor inconveniences, so we still enjoyed our stay. The owner was prompt in her responses to us and fair in reimbursing us for the things we had to fix. Riverside Pizza in Iron Mountain had good pizza and great atmosphere. The George Young Golf Course in Iron River had breathtaking views and was great to play.

Everything was great. The only negative thing about our stay that you have to take your garbage with you and the nearest garbage container is 12 miles away.

Nice house with great potential

  • 3 of 5

The good: nice/clean house, great location.

The bad:

1. WiFi didn't work upon arrival. The router had to be reset. And then the signal from the basement (where the router was located) was too weak upstairs.

2. The sink in the master bathroom doesn't work.

3. Leaking kitchen sink/dishwasher.

4. There is not enough hot water to fill the hot tub. We weren't able to use the tub at all.

5. There were no holiday decorations around new year time.

Awesome!

Beautiful place! The owner was helpful. Good sledding hill for kids in winter. Not far from skiing at Brule. Can't wait to come in the summer some year. The house was clean and tidy.

No Cabin fever here!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time on our recent trip to the UP. The cabin is located right on a lake and the location could not have been more beautiful. Our days consisted of kayaking with the loons and hiking twice a day through the timber. Our grand daughter was Baptized in Iron River which was the sole reason for the visit and now that we have seen the beauty of the UP we will be heading there more in the future. The cabin was the perfect fit for the family 5 adults and 1 child. When we head north in the future this will be the first place we will try to book.
