Perfect for what we wanted
Close to ski resorts, awesome view of the quite lake and beautiful mountains. Perfect little spot. Can’t wait to return this summer.
and we can't wait for your return visit. Thank you for your kind words.
The hot tub is it’s best feature
It needs a thorough deep cleaning. I found hair from the previous guest in the shower, gross. The floors have gunk built up in the corners (especially in bathroom) that is also very gross. I had to clean the coffee maker because the tank had some funk in it that could make a person sick. The windows need cleaning badly, especially looking out on lake. There was snot dribble from someone prior’s dog on master window. It overall has an extremely cheap feel because everything in it is extremely cheap. If it had someone taking care of it that actually cared it would make a huge difference. Being charged so much for cleaning when I left the place in better condition than it was left for me was a little upsetting. The housekeeper also called at 9:30am with a not so friendly voice to make sure I knew I had to be out at 10, then showed up at 9:52. Very pushy and a rude ending to our weekend getaway.
Sorry that we couldn't give you a later check out. For future guests know that our sheets are laundered and floors mopped prior to all guests arrivals. Its an older property, but one we care for well.
The Down Low on the Bass Bungalow
Gorgeous location & scenery! Set you standards low before coming in reference to the cabin's accommodations. The linens/towels are old, basic dishes/pots/pans and utensils. The TV in the bedroom doesn't have a remote and you can only watch what is being watched in the living room. There are some old sheets/pillows/blankets available but you really probably should bring your own for the futon if someone is sleeping on it. I brought 3 throw blankets to snuggle up with while watching TV. The hot tub jets are on the brink. Only a few worked and the hot tub needed chemicals added when we arrived (there were no chemical tabs in the floater and the hot tub had a smell). We had to wait a few days before the chemical issues for the hot tub were resolved. We have a hot tub at our house so we were familiar with the issues and disappointed in the hot tub's condition. We contacted the rental company several times via email and never heard back in reference to how they were going to rectify the fact that we could only use the hot tub on 1 night even though we paid for 4 nights. You can book the cabin next door for $5 more and get an extra bedroom (Lakeside Cabin). Same great location and view - just no hot tub that barely works. The driveway is large enough for 2 cars. A little slope but my small Nissan Versa had no trouble getting up and down. The fire pit by the lake was fantastic! A great way to end the evening with a relaxing fire lakeside. There is a washer and dryer. Super nice to wash dirty clothes and towels each day. You will want to wash anything you wear by the fire pit each night but SO worth it! All the local stores sell firewood. Gathering pine cones and sticks from the yard make great kindling. The cabin is centrally located to all kinds of attractions. The first day we hiked the Elk River Falls and spent some time at the cabin. Rather easy trail to see a fantastic waterfall (only 5 min. hike). We also drove to Elizabethton, TN to zipline with Off the Grid Mountain Adventures. Fantastic! On the way home we stopped at Laurel Fork Trailhead. Great trail but challenging! About 4.2 miles round trip but the waterfall at the end is so worth it! The last day it rained so we spent the day in Boone, NC and then headed to Linville Caverns. Do yourself a favor and do some of your cooking beforehand, freeze it and bring a crock pot. You will want to spend your time outdoors and visiting the sweet mountain towns.
Glad much was enjoyed. It is a great place to stay for those who enjoy the outdoors and want to be right on the water with gorgeous Mountain View’s. Nothing is brand new inside just clean and ready for guests to enjoy. After staying two days this guest began sending emails wanting hot tub cleaned again. Maintenance went over and cleaned it again. That’s about all they can do. Have expectations that are inline for a trailer in the woods and you’ll be very happy here.
It is a cute place for sure and very quiet. After we found a grocery store in Mountain City we were set. Hot tub was a nice addition although I used it once for a brief time as the area around it needed a little upkeep. We have already talked that it would be nice to come back and have friends rent the cabin next door. Beautiful leaves and weather. We were fortunate.
Great place if you are there to fish. Driveway not great at all, some cars will have a hard time. Walking down to the fire pit not great for the majority of people. Biggest issue the temps went into the 30’s at night and no heat. Called the maintenance man and no reply. Went 2 nights freezing. Then he showed up couldn’t do anything and brought back 2 small portable heaters that did work. Bad thing is I went home sick and lost 2 days of work. I would think systems would be checked.
Don’t rent this place
Never got inside of property. No phone service in that area. Roads to the location unfit for motorcycles. Driveway unsuitfor safely navigation of bike down. Property management didn’t care about safety of me an motorcycle. Piss poor customer service. Manager only concerned about getting paid for usage an not care that I couldn’t get into property
Plenty of motorcycles have stayed here without compliant. Paved all the way with a very short gravel driveway. This guest could have easily accessed the property but called and claimed they had booked the wrong location two days after their check in date. Nothing about safety just a really upset man who threaten us over the phone. One star rating for him too warning other owners.
