Warm & inviting colorful space, with views of the harbor, and beach from Patio & Garden. Cresting waves on the jetty, sailing boats, wind surfers, and visiting wildlife are only a few of the sights to enjoy while sipping gourmet coffee, relaxing in comfortable lounge chairs in your private walled garden. Paper cups are supplied in the kitchen if you want to take coffee along for an early morning stroll on the beach out to Pillar Point to watch the big waves crashing on Maverick's reef. The kitchenette is equipped with everything you might need for a snack, or light meal. Or grill seafood bought fresh from the crabbers in the marina, on the outdoor kitchen barbeque. Hop on the bikes and cruise a few blocks to have great Italian food at the Mezza Luna, or fish & chips at Barbara's restaurant. The bath featuers a roomy walk-in Pebble shower, with on demand piping hot water, so it never runs out. Enjoy a complementary bottle of wine, or local beer under the stars in the courtyard, warming by the gas fire pit, listening to the tide roll in. Then hop into a comfy Queen bed, in the glow of the remote control wall fireplace, and watch your favorite cable channel, (choose from over 100 entertainment or music channels) DVDs are provided for your listening & viewing pleasure, or choose an interesting magazine or book from the shelf.. Have a relaxing night's sleep lulled by the sound of the sea.
An enclosed private tropical Courtyard with Fire Pit, dining table,, Gas BBQ & fish pond is located at the back of the building, with access from the suite. There are 2 bicycles also available on a first come first serve basis, Beach chairs, umbrellas, beach toys, etc are stored in the Bike Hut in the parking area.
Interaction with Guests
I am in and out of the gallery, but am always on call for guests concerns., and am generally around weekends during the day.
A Landmark Building, near Mavericks Big Wave Beach, a short 3 block walk or bike ride to Pillar Point Harbor Marina Sea Food & Shops! The local yacht club is a few doors down, and there are boat and equipment rentals close by. Amazing hiking on the pillar point bluff to hidden beaches, wildlife & birdwatching.
Marina is an easy walk, or take the bikes! There is a new bike path that goes all the way down the coast to Half Moon Bay, about 3 miles south.
Other Things to Note
Beach Towels, folding chairs and umbrellas are available, as well as a picnic basket. Families with smaller children (under 7yrs), Pets, or special needs, please Email me so we can discuss features that may or may not work for you. Free street parking. No parties or loud music.
Greetings! My name is Michael and I run the Tribal Art Gallery located below the Loft & above the Garden Flat. I love the Half Moon Bay area as it has so much variety, including the wonderful marina, and our local West Point beach, adjacent to Mavericks Big Wave surf Beach. Half Moon Bay has a quaint downtown with lots of amazing restaurants, and a variety unusual Art, as well as amazing shopping opportunities. Renting the Loft is my way of sharing the HMB experience I enjoy with others. I am close by & always available for the needs of guests. The gallery is by appointment, so foot traffic is minimal

Princeton by the Sea, where the property is located, about 9 square blocks in size, was the original center for crab & general commercial fishing in the Bay Area, and still is mostly Boat repair, crab trap storage, the Yacht Club, boat rentals, and other marine related businesses or local artists. There is no commercial manufacturing allowed, and generally businesses must be marine or art related, like my gallery. Basically Pillar Point is a working Harbor, with a few artists & craftspeople in residence.
The 'Romeo Pier' in front of our property was the unloading point for fishermen's catch since the early 1800s. Many of the 'crabbers' have gone, and the community is slowly turning back into the small creative enterprise, private residence & artist colony, that it was back in the 1920's through the 1960's, when many famous artists and musicians lived in the old warehouses.
We are continually working to beautify the old buildings & general area, particularly the 3 blocks of beach road between the Harbor Marina, and West Point Beach where we are located; so that hopefully soon, there won't be as much of a contrast between the two areas, without having Princeton be 'touristy' like the Marina.
Sometimes it's interesting to get out of your normal environment, and experience something completely different, and that is why I was so taken with the property. Also it is the closest building to Mavericks Big Wave surfing beach, which to surfing enthusiasts is what a cozy chalet at the foot of Mt Everest would be to avid climbers. We have a lot of water sports and fishing activity in the harbor, as well as wonderful hiking on the Point & bird watching at the estuary across the street.
Welcoming and accommodating, and the suite was beautiful! We were walking distance to shops and wonderful restaurants, and only a short drive to family-friendly, beautiful hikes and tide pooling. My husband and I were able to relax right outside our door, and watch our kids enjoy playing at the beach. Overall, our expectations were exceeded! We definitely recommend this spot, either for a couple's retreat, or a family getaway. Also, the kitchenette and outdoor kitchen combined, offered everything we needed to prepare our own meals, which was a huge bonus to us! Thank you, Michael, for a wonderful experience!

Mike could not have been a better host, and the property was absolutely fantastic. The location was perfect: Right on the water (definitely bring your kayaks and SUPs) and just a very quick five minute walk to the entertainment area of El Granada. The suite itself was extremely comfortable, well appointed, and fun. In short: Highly recommended and a property we would gladly stay at again.

Our stay at the beachfront property was more than charming, so unique and one of a kind. The locale was as good as it gets. We had three generations, and they all found their favorite niches. So many to choose from. Thank you Mike for everything.

This is a quaint property that's well maintained, well stocked and in a great location. As if being on the ocean isn't enough, the garden and outdoor areas are beautiful. Mike gives you lots of details about the area and things to do. He also pays the same kind of attention to every detail of the property. We walked the beach, went to San Francisco and Santa Cruz. We had great local meals at the Half Moon Brewery and Mezza Luna. We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property and highly recommend it.
We loved the outside private space and the shared sitting area. Both areas were nicely arranged, clean and gave wonderful views of the ocean.
The apartment was very clean, well appointed and quite and exactly as it was listed. Owner gave lots of information, recommendations for food and activities. We enjoyed our visit and will consider returning. This would be a great spot to bring our dog in the future. We would recommend to friends and relatives.
