Gorgeously renovated 1850's historic building in the heart of downtown Rockport. Huge windows with striking ocean, town and mountain views. Cherry wood floors, granite kitchen and bathroom counter tops, radiant floor heat, all newly renovated in 2011. New outside stairs and upper level deck in 2017.
We are located in the picturesque harbor town of Rockport. You can walk to the Opera House, restaurants, Maine Media College and Workshops, The Bay Chamber Concerts, galleries, YMCA, library, post office, shops and the harbor with beach. One can walk along the sea to Camden, with the ocean crashing on rocks, and a lovely swimming site. It is also a lovely 1.5 mile walk directly to Camden on the road, passing the famous belted Galloway cows.
The layout of the house is very comfortable. The fourth floor is majestic, with huge windows all around, an open loft-like flowing floor plan, a sunny cupola, full bath, cherry floors and upbeat comfortable lovely furniture. The house is very welcoming: whimsical, yet sophisticated.
The three bedrooms and one full bath are on the third floor, which is entered in the back of the building at the ground level. The two bedrooms with king size beds both have views of the ocean and the Goose River. You can enter the fourth floor by either the outside stairway to the upper deck or you can enter by the interior staircase; there is a second full tiled and granite bathroom on the fourth floor with views of the coastal mountains. Sleeps seven; we also have an air mattress so could sleep nine.
This house is perfect for a relaxing vacation by the sea anytime of year. Sail or drive into the harbor and enjoy a week in Mid-Coast Maine. You will love the comfortable, cheerful, artistic environment. The house is lofty, airy, fresh and clean. Full of natural light and captivating views.
The open floor plan and well-equipped kitchen is ready for any culinary adventures you might take on.
The house is natural and furnished with ecological materials. The kitchen has a water filter. The master bedroom has a top of-the-line latex mattress. All linens are 100% cotton. Couches and all furnishings are new. All rugs are 100% wool.
We have a Gigabit Internet (1000 Mb/s) connection. That is 'WOW!' fast, so on foggy days you can download from Netflix or wherever nearly instantaneously. For you non-geeks, your home Internet is probably 5-20 Mb/s, compared to 1000Mb/s.
Please call with any questions.
My grandparents were neighbors in Camden since the 30s; my father literally married 'the girl next door'. I have traveled or lived in about 70 countries, on all continents, and keep returning to Maine. In the apartment is a carranca, a "scary" figurehead used on boats on the Rio Sao Francisco in Brazil. They are supposed to scare away the evil river spirits. Several of the paintings are from our trips to Myanmar (Burma). Most of the photographs are mine.
I try to spend most of my time on the remote island of Criehaven, the farthest out inhabited island on the eastern seaboard. Looking out from the top floor you can almost see Criehaven. There is a mural on Criehaven and another mural of the Camden/Rockport coastline on the 4th floor.
We spend time in Providence, Criehaven, Rockport, and other parts of the world.
My photo was taken by our good friend and neighbor, Peter Ralston, on Hurricane Island. His gallery of incredible Maine landscapes is on the corner of Main and Central Streets.
Rick Krementz purchased this house in 2014
We wanted to find a property on the mainland; commuting in from the island is highly dependent on the weather. The view is magnificent, and the community is so friendly. I am a photographer, and like being close to Maine Media Workshops.
The colors and views of the apartment are just so inviting.
Beautifully cared for home with modern feel and all the amenities you could wish for. The unobstructed view through a wall of harbor-side windows is breathtaking in early mornings as the sun rises. Two high-end restaurants a 4-minute walk from back door. This is my second stay at the Barbrick and I had forgotten how lovely the house is -- down to the plush towels and linens. A chilled bottle of wine was a warm welcome. This is a true gem tucked into Rockport Harbor.
Rick was very helpful and accommodating before, during, and after our stay. The house is as centrally located as possible in Rockport. The space is accurately portrayed in the photographs. There are great restaurants and art galleries and natural beauty within close proximity. Parking was plentiful. There was some noise from cars on Main St. and also some construction noise from next door.
The Barbrick was perfect for our family! Clean, comfortable and beautiful accommodations with all the amenities one needs. Great views from the top level over the harbor, a well equipped kitchen, little touches to make things extra comfortable and convenient including wifi. We had purchased some gift wrap to wrap a gift and realized we were without scotch tape- never fear they had some in a drawer! The champagne was also a nice welcoming touch, we enjoyed it with some oysters from Graffam's Seafood Market up the road! (they have great lobster rolls too be sure to check them out!) They also provide great recommendations for the area and clear directions for everything in and near to the Barbrick.
We would definitely chose to stay here again. We have family in Rockport so we may likely return! Thank you!
We stayed here over a long weekend with 5 adults and one infant. The space was beautiful, bright and had a fantastic view of the harbour. The town is on the quieter side, but very close to Camden with a wider array of shops and eateries.
The apartment itself was very comfortable and accommodated all of us very well. The kitchen was well-equipped with the basics and we made our own dinners most nights. The bedrooms were comfortable and spacious. One thing of note, if there are older adults or younger children, both bathtubs/showers are raised up a few steps off the ground, so getting in and out can be difficult.
Rick was a great host and when a small issue with an entrance came up, he proactively called me to warn me and offered a discount. I would highly recommend this listing as a vacation rental and Rick was wonderful to work with!
The view were fabulous and the location is great. There are two good restaurants a minute away so you can walk there at your leisure. Camden is 5 minutes away if you want more to do. But if you don't, you've got a lovely place to relax and read.
The apartment is thoughtfully equipped with everything you need and everything is great quality. (I may be buying those pots and skillets for myself now!). Having the washer/dryer on site is great; the linens were ample and terrific; even a night light in the hallway!
Thanks, Rick. It's a great place.
