Our beach bach is well loved by us and has everything you need to enjoy a very relaxed and casual holiday. Kick back here and spend your time reading, swimming, beach combing - what ever takes your fancy. Our place is designed to allow for easy interaction with the outdoors - mainly the large back yard that offers loads of space for holiday activities.
An 'often used' wood BBQ at the back of the property allows for the good old-fashioned fun of baking potatoes, roasting marshmallows and toasting sandwiches (fire irons provided). Let the kids at it! There is plenty of room to pitch a tent out back if you have teenagers that need their own space (or anyone for that matter). An on-site kayak is another activity the kids love to spend time on, down in the creek where it joins the beach and widens a little before meeting the sea.
There is no TV at our bach. But feel free to BYOD (bring your own device) if you are keen to watch a movie or two, as we have over 150 titles on DVD for you to choose from! Lots of books, board games and outdoor activities are also available.
The main form of cooking is a gas-fired BBQ alongside a double electric hob and microwave. There is no oven! When at the bach you do things differently from home! And there is no oven to clean at the end - an added bonus. Bring your own dishwashers!
The beach is wide and flat and appears to stretch forever. If you have a 4WD vehicle and drive south you will hit the Manawatu river, drive north and you will hit the Rangitikei river. We have a lot of success picking tuatua, and enjoy crabbing also. Surf casting is another option that plenty of visitors enjoy.
The small community of Himatangi Beach includes the Palmerston North Surf Life Saving Club, the Cosmopolitan Club, bowling club, holiday park, volunteer fire brigade, dairy and community centre including library and nurse-led medical rooms. We have been holidaying at Himatangi Beach for 18 years and love it!
Minimum charge $190 ;-) Pets allowed with prior approval ;-) Smoking allowed outside only - please remove all of your cigarette butts from the property ;-)
NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave; Bring your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels);
Very relaxed holiday living - only 130 km north of Wellington.
Great location for a family getaway. Bach was well equipped with plenty to keep the kids entertained. Only recommendation would be a TV and DVD player for those rainy days.
We will definitely be back to stay here again.
The Linga Longa was an amazing stay, plenty of room for everyone, lots of activities regardless of the weather. It is your typical kiwi batch. Would love to visit again!
We had perfect weather. The property was sheltered private and had good shade. Some great books also to dip into.
The property was wonderful. It was so nice to come away and just relax, I loved the fact there was no TV.
The fully fenced back yard was great for my littlies.
I would definitely stay again.
Property is great - a good old fashioned bach. Very homey. Beds are comfy and we slept well. Neighbours down the road at "Sue's Place" are friendly as well - didn't realise they had an animal refuge. Very cool. Note - we found the water is heavily chlorinated, pays to take bottled water for drinking.
