The main living area of the cottage is an open concept with virtually an entire wall of windows and cathedral ceilings to create a bright airy space. There is a comfy L-shaped sofa, and several chairs for the group. A high tech ceiling fan overhead keeps the air circulating on warmer days while windows at each end bring in more natural light. For easy access to the outdoors there are five walkout sliding glass doors to the wrap-around decks. The larger elevated decks enable a nice view out to the lake and the surrounding grounds. Enjoy the quiet location set among the cedar trees with plenty of space for the kids to run around outside.
At the other end of the living room the well-equipped gourmet-style white kitchen has everything for the cook: fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher and small appliances. There is a washer and dryer in the utility room. Sip on your morning coffee while you listen to the lake lapping the short and feel the fresh air! A dining room table with seating for all seven (7) in the party allows you to take in the surrounding view. Or, eat outdoors at the outdoor dining table!

My family loves the Bruce Peninsula and Tobermory is sublime. Tobermory has restaurants, galleries, and is the launching off spot for boat tours and the ferry to Manitoulin Island. Our wonderful newly renovated Ladyslipper Cottage is named after the amazing Lady's Slipper orchids which grow wild on the Bruce and on the property. This cottage attracted us because it is both in nature, with all the magnificent beauty of the Bruce and also very close to the Village of Tobermory with all the activities there.
We had a lot of fun renovating the cottage and making it very, very comfortable and inviting for a group of people to enjoy together.
My husband and I love to drop the canoe into the water and take a spin while the sun sets. Swimming here is just heavenly as the cove we are on is sheltered from the larger expanse of the BIG lake-Lake Huron.
Our kids are grown and live far away but whenever they come home the cottage is where they and their friends want to meet.
I think you and your family will too!

At this cottage you can swim, canoe or kayak, relax and watch the most amazing sunsets, or head into Tobermory for shopping and fine dinning or visit the Indian Carver for late night coffee or amazing fish and chips. You can explore The Grotto at the Bruce National Park, tour Flowerpot Island or take the CHI CHEEMAUN Ferry to Manitoulin Island for a day trip. Canoe on nearby Cameron or Cypres Lake into the national park: the list just goes on.
There is never a dull moment unless you just want to relax, in which case the cottage and ample decks under the cedar trees or down by the water provide the ideal setting, just enjoying the joys of nature, without missing any of the comforts of home!
Lady's Slipper Cottage is big enough to comfortably accommodate kids, seniors and friends of all ages. It is modern, stylish and welcoming.
A short walk from one of the best sand beaches in Ontario, Singing Sands, a bike ride or short drive to world class touring, boating, shopping in the Village of Tobermory. The Georgian Bay shore line on the other side of the peninsula is a great place to hike the Bruce Trail. There are lots of cycling, scuba diving and boating and fishing opportunities.
The best of all worlds for a memorable holiday experience.
This was our second stay at this beautiful cottage on Dorcas Bay. Last year we were not able to get my wife's wheelchair down to the water, but the path has been upgraded so that my wife's wheelchair was able to get down to the water, where we (and our schnauzer) enjoyed the view (and the ducks--our dog jumped in after the ducks and then probably thought it wasn't such a good idea after all!). The cottage is clean and comfortable, and we always love exploring Tobermory and surroundings (we discovered an accessible trail at Bruce Peninsula National Park and a gorgeous view of Little Dunk's Bay). Thank you Eva for fixing the path down to the water. We look forward to next time!
We rented this cottage for Thanksgiving weekend and were very happy with the accommodation. The cottage is spacious with lots of light. There is a well equipped kitchen and a large living room space. There were no shortage of great books to read over weekend too. The location of the cottage is perfect - very close to access the hikes and activities near the Bruce Peninsula National Park as well as the amenities in Tobermory. I would recommend staying here if you are looking for a nice quiet place to relax.
We rented this cottage as a "baby-moon" to enjoy a quiet getaway before the birth of our first child, and it was exactly what we were after. The area was quiet, peaceful and conducive to total relaxation. It's particularly nice to be on a quiet waterfront with almost no boat traffic, and the neighbours (although very close by) were friendly and quiet. Renters should be aware that there's a good wind off Lake Huron into the Bay, so even when it's super hot inland, it stays very comfortable (sometimes even cool) at the cottage. We swam every day (although, quickly - it's chilly water!).
The cottage itself is very comfortable, clean and has great amenities. It's nice to find a rental that's well-stocked with things like toilet paper and dish soap - sometimes you have to pack these things. One thing we wish we'd known was that there was a permanent filter in the coffee-maker (so no need to buy paper filters), but really not a big deal!
The owner is pleasant and easy to deal with, and very responsive to email inquiries. We've already recommended this to a friend looking for a rental in the area; it's worth checking out.
We enjoyed our week at the cottage! The cottage was clean, spacious, well-appointed and well-maintained. We loved the quiet nights, fresh air and dark skies.
We found this place looking for wheelchair accessible accommodation, and were pleased to find that it is wheelchair accessible. There were a few limitations in accessibility though, so anyone looking for an accessible cottage should know that the door to the master bedroom is too narrow for a power wheelchair, that the television is up in the loft and therefore not accessible, and that there is no accessible path down to the water. My wife could see the lake through the trees but could now go down to enjoy the water. This being said, we did enjoy our week and were able to make some adjustments (bringing the television down to the main floor, for example).
Tobermory is nearby and is a great little place to visit, and there are a lot of things to do in and around the village. Many of the shops are wheelchair accessible, and there is a great boardwalk/path along the waterfront.
We would definitely come back!
This was our first time cottaging up north and it turned out really well. My cousin visiting from Holland, always quick to deprecate my competence, had to ask several times if I actually found this place on my own. A beautiful clean place on a quiet inlet perfect for little ones to paddle around and easy access to the lake for the more adventurous. I couldn`t get my kids onto a hiking trail with a stick, but they loved to paddle, so the kayaks were much appreciated. The trails were wonderful. Walk a bit north of the grotto for some more peaceful views. Also drive to Lions Head and see as much of the coast as possible. The 50s diner one street away from the beach was a treat. The tourist information in the cottage was very helpful. Other little things appreciated were the spices, great collection of books, cards and other games, and some decent movies on dvd I wish we had time for.
Foodland was great for groceries. They have everything and at surprisingly normal prices. $5 Hagen Daz??? That was a sale price, so don`t go expecting it, but they do have some deals. The place closes at 9pm, so if you arrive at the cottage by 8:30 you can still make it for supplies.
Finally, fish. We actually ate fish caught off the pier for over half our meals. We still have three in our freezer. This was entirely due to one in our party who spent almost the entire week there with a fishing pole. I think you need a lot of patience, but it is possible to feed yourself. One hears a lot about `whitefish` in the area. I think that is all what we caught. Most were 2-3 lb, a couple were twice that. A couple really big ones got away (of course).
We highly recommend this quiet retreat overlooking Dorcas Bay. The cottage has all the amenities you need for a romantic getaway or a family holiday. The listing description is accurate and the cottage is clean and well-maintained. Just a short walk to the trails and beach at Singing Sands and a short drive to the visitor office of Bruce National Park. The weather was a bit cold for swimming when we stayed, but it is very clear and inviting and we look forward to staying in summer weather sometime.
