'Trillium' at RIVERWALK...Private, Cozy AND Immaculate! Spend a weekend or a week in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Great location for every season of the year!
Each of our cabins, Trillium & Morning Glory, provide a large, private, 6-person hot tub just outside the door. Sit in one of the front porch rockers to enjoy the view of the Cane River and the horses in the pasture along the rivers border. At night, look up and be amazed by the abundant number of stars in the sky like you've never seen before.
What would a mountain cabin be without the scent and warmth of a wood burning fireplace? Each of our cabins has a wood burning fireplace. We provide free and unlimited wood for our guests so you can enjoy cozy fires all day and all night, if you'd like.
If you demand comfort and ease while away from home, you'll find it here! Each kitchen is equipped as if it were our own for year round use. We also provide a starter supply of coffee, tea, hot cocoa and related supplies (sweetners & creamer) so you can arrive late, if necessary, and without feeling pressure to immediately run out for supplies. Tissue & toilet paper, paper towels, bath soap, dish soap, laundry soap, iron, blow dryer...it's all there. If you need something out of the ordinary, let us know. Chances are we can make it available. Once you check in we want you to sit back and relax.
Comfort, we demand it and so should you! Every guest will rest well in our beds. Our mattresses are all Simmons Beautyrest and guests continue to give our beds the highest marks. Each cabin sleeps up to 6 guests. The master bedroom has a queen bed while the loft bedroom upstairs provides guests the option of either 2 twin beds or a king. Simply specify your preference when booking the reservation. Each of the 2-floors has a full size bathroom. The sleeper sofa in the living area will sleep 2 additional guests. A porta crib is available upon request.
Wireless internet, telephone with unlimited long distance and the best cable package Direct TV has to offer is all included with our cabins.
Get out and see the surrounding area or stay on the property for your entire vacation (which is what many repeat guests enjoy doing). All the property surrounding our cabins is family owned and available for exploration by our guests. The neighboring barn and horse riding arena are owned by Laura's parents, Paul & Judi Ewing (the original Riverwalk cabin owners). For a small fee, guests may now book time with Judi and her horses. Kids especially get a kick out of learning how to care for and groom a horse.
Two private, family owned, riverside parks are available for guest use as well. Between these two parks guests can enjoy river tubing, a youth zip line, built-in swimming pool, fabulous trout fishing, a LARGE fire pit and a covered picnic pavilion with grill. Did I mention how fabulous our parks are for outdoor events? Weddings, family reunions, birthdays??? Yes, FABULOUS!!
2-wheel drive vehicles are usually adequate to get to and from the cabins to the state road. If you have any difficulty whatsoever, we live just around the corner and are available to help you 24/7.
I'm Laura Watrous. My husband and partner, Brett Watrous, are the owners of the two luxury vacation cabins that make up Riverwalk Vacation Rentals. We love our life in the mountains and find great joy sharing our special piece of the world with guests. Our cabins were originally designed with the kind of comfort and luxury we strive for when we vacation.
Laura Watrous purchased this cabin in 2006
The saying goes: 'I wasn't born in Burnsville but I got here as quickly as I could' The climate is perfect with four different seasons: Beautiful cool Summers, colorful Falls, relatively mild Winters, and fresh colorful Springs. Trillium is in a perfect location to make the most of why a Blue Ridge Mountain vacation is great any time of the year.
Trillium cabin is private yet convenient to features not available anywhere else. This cabin sits just above the Cane River. The view from the front porch is of the river as well as of the horse pasture which borders the river. Guests of Riverwalk also have access to two privately owned riverside parks which cater to our guests. One with pool & playground, the other with picnic pavilion, river tubes, large fire pit and youth zip line. There are 200+ acres of hiking and exploring right on the Riverwalk property. Neighboring farm with people friendly horses, donkeys and a goat. Farm owner offers horse 'time' for a small fee. Riverwalk is close to Blue Ridge Parkway, Mount Mitchell and The Pisgah National Forest (pedestrian, bike, equestrian trails).
We just spent our second vacation with Riverwalk vacation rentals. The cabins are so clean and well equipped. If you're seeking a little tranquility and want to unplug this is the place for you. We enjoyed the wood fireplace and the hot tub every night. Asheville is an easy drive if you care to spend the day. The little town of Burnsville is charming and quaint, too! We will be back.
I surprised my loving boyfriend with a weekend getaway as an early birthday present- we had the best time! This was our first vacation (in 5 years!) with just the two of us, and it was wonderful! The cabin is quiet, feels like home. We loved relaxing in the hot tub, the beds really are comfortable, it's the perfect space. We hiked to Crabtree Falls (took us awhile to find the trail but glad we did) and went to the top of Mount Mitchell! A sweet, relaxing little getaway for my love and me- we would do it again! *He also approved and really loved his surprise birthday trip!
Trillium was exactly as noted on the website, but better. Laura was a pleasure to communicate with. She was willing to answer all our questions prior to booking as well as right before our arrival date. She was always prompt in replying. Cabin was very comfortable for 4 adult couples. We prepared Thanksgiving dinner at the cabin and the kitchen was well supplied. We did spend most of our time touring the area and not nearly as much time in the cabin as we would have liked (not even time to use the hot tub) but when we were in the cabin it was very comfortable and the fireplace was great and a supply of wood is included. Loved the location, Ingles Market close by, we hiked one morning on the property and saw a large buck and a flock of turkeys. We really enjoyed visiting Black Mountain with lovely shops and great breweries. Also enjoyed Asheville...shopping and breweries. The best was visiting Sierra Nevada Brewery and having lunch there. One couples first visit, the other couple had been before and enjoyed it just as much the second time. Also don't miss Bold Rock Cidery near Mills River....such friendly people and delicious cider. Weather was unusually warm, with the exception of one windy and colder day, and the smoke from the wildfires didn't really cause us any problems. It was a wonderful family time together in Trillium for Thanksgiving. We would definitely rent again. Thank you, Laura, for sharing your cabin with us.
The cabin was very nice, but we had a few issues. First night the commode would not flush downstairs so we looked every where for a plunger. We bought one the next day, and a few days later found one under the sink in very back. We had a fire every night, but one of the nights we used a log from the pile, that made the room get smoky & never really started so my husband took it out, and the rest of the time we bought logs at the store. I think the wood was bad. Also the views advertised made us think it had a nice river view & mountain views of which we had neither unless we actually left the cabin. We also did not know there were numerous fires, so lots of things we wanted to do were closed due to the fires. Still we had a nice vacation, and appreciate the stay at the cabin. My notes were for your info only.
The cabin and rental property is very laid back and relaxing, we had a great time.
Google Maps or smartphone GPS destination address = State Rd 1112, Burnsville, NC “State Rd 1112, Burnsville, NC” is also known as “Toodies Creek Rd”, then:
? From 197 S / Pensacola Rd, turn right on “Toodies Creek Rd”, cross over bridge. Continue on “Toodies Creek Rd” by turning left on the other side of the bridge.
Travel approximately ¾ mile up “Toodies Creek Rd” to “Ray Farm Rd”, turn left (be carefully looking for the street sign as it is visible but the actual street is not. “Ray Farm Rd” dips down so you cannot see the street until you turn onto it).
Take “Ray Farm Rd” until you see the group of mailboxes to the left…continue straight entering “Sledrunner Rd”. Follow Sledrunner around the horse pasture, Trillium is 2nd cabin on the right.
