About Loni

Local resident lived in this house for 10 years. Offshore supply boat Captain and local Real Estate Broker. Currently live in Mobile and close enough to respond to any issues that might arise.

Loni purchased this chalet in 2001

Why Loni chose Dauphin Island

'Captains Quarters' was purchased as my primary residence in 2001 and was not rented out until recently. I settled on Dauphin Island because it is the most 'laid back', relaxing place I have ever found. The fishing is fantastic, the beaches are beautiful, and the Sunsets are phenomenal!

What makes this chalet unique

Sunsets, sunsets, sunsets!!! Fishing and crabbing off the 36' pier. Swimming or shelling a 10 minute walk on the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. Scooter or jet ski rentals minutes away. Bike trails, best birding in the Southeast, Audubon Park, historic Fort Gains, Dauphin Island Sea Lab and Estuarium. The best offshore Red Snapper and sports fishing in the Gulf and inshore speckled trout, white trout, flounder, crabbing and red fishing on the private pier. Mobile Bay Ferry available for day trips to Fort Morgan or Gulf Shores. The casinos of Biloxi are 1 hour away and New Orleans a short 2.5 hours away.

A Great Family Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We took a chance and ventured to Alabama in March. We couldn't have asked for a better location away from the spring break crowd. It was exactly what we were looking for. We especially enjoyed being so close to the water and took our kayaks out into the bay. We hope to go back again soon!

Perfect trip with my crazies!!

  • 5 of 5

I read the reviews on Captain's Quarters (CQ) before I booked it and I have to admit, I was skeptical as it sounded too perfect. But, myself and five other adults stayed at CQ for a week in June and absolutely loved it!! Four of our adults are college students and they enjoyed every minute of our stay. We traveled from KCMO with two waverunners that docked perfectly all week, especially since the boat launch was less than ten minutes away. The dock was our daily getaway, perfect for switching riders on the tube and the skis, although a ladder out of the water would have been easier for us older people. The pelicans were plentiful for observing, as well as "Kevin" the heron waiting for our next unsupervised catch!! The dock is perfect for fishing or just watching the most perfect sunset you can imagine. We grilled dinner and cooked breakfast everyday with all of the amenities of our own home that CQ has, including a full size refrigerator (no coolers necessary!). The beach is a short 5-minute walk from the house, which is convenient and also keeps the sand out of the house, which I loved! Loni recommended Skinner's Seafood for a meal on the island and WOW was she right on!! They have the best jumbo shrimp (they steamed for us) and yummy seafood bisque! The team at Ship & Shore are super friendly. The island is so quiet and everyone is so nice. We rented bikes for a day and went souvenir shopping, to the estuarium, and the bird sanctuary. The beds were very comfortable, and the towels and linens were plentiful. The size of the rooms and the beds could comfortably sleep 8 people. The washer & dryer and dishwasher are very convenient, so be sure to bring household items like laundry soap, dish soap, bath tissue, and paper towels. Also, don't forget the bug spray...mosquitoes are HUGE!! Booking the house was very easy and I received my security deposit back within a week of our return. Loni was great to talk to and very helpful. Our entire group would LOVE to go back and I hope that CQ is available when that time comes!!

57th birthday with family

  • 5 of 5

We vacationed there for 3 nights! So happy it was pet friendly! We brought our doberman puppy (2 yrs old in August), 87 YO mother and young adult son for the long weekend. The house was very clean and had so many beautiful beach decorations inside, that made us feel like it was a true beach destination. The beds were super comfortable and the linens and towels were sparkling. The door locks were difficult to maneuver and didn't hold my dog if he jumped on it. They need a new can opener and need to let you know to bring washing machine detergent. The sunsets were magnificent and the island is a must see. Mu husband and son fished off the dock and TRIED to catch crabs. Skinners Seafood helped us out in a big way, LOL. I rode my bike the entire island! We have been back 4 days and I have already received my security deposit. Thank you Loni for all that you do!

Perfect spot for enjoying everything the island has to offer: Convenient dock for our boat, beautiful unobstructed view of the bay and a short easy walk to the beach. Booking was a breeze. We hope to make this an annual event!

Amazing girls getaway

  • 5 of 5

Location was terrific! The house was so cute and comfy with incredible sunset views directly out the back door! The kitchen had everything we needed and the living room had plenty of comfortable seating which was lovely. The beds were awesome and the quick walk to the beach was perfect for us! We had an amazing time and look forward to renting from Loni again. She was very accommodating and easy to communicate with!

Captain's Quarters was everything we were looking for and more

  • 5 of 5

Spent a week at Captain's quarters while on vacation. The house was very clean, and everything that we required was there - from cooking meals to doing laundry. It was more of a home away from home than a vacation house. Close several tourist destinations from Florida to New Orleans and places in between. Definitely looking at going back and making Captain's quarters an annual family vacation destination. The place is best described as beautiful and a breath taking view of the ocean.
