About George Delikouras
Hi I am George and with my wife Zinia we welcome you to the family's summer house in the world's top destination: Oia, Santorini! The house is a contemporary construction built on top of the ruins of an old windmill that existed at the same spot since the time of our grand-grand-fathers. The mill has three levels totaling a surface of 77 sq. mt. On the ground floor we find a fully equipped big modern kitchen, a living room with a sofa that transforms to a double bed and a bathroom with shower. The middle floor is a big bedroom with its own veranda and a spectacular view at the Aegean sea. The attic is where children love to sleep. It has two beds but can accomodate up to 4 children (or adults). The big advantage of the mill is its private yard equipped with wooden furnitura and an umbrella for sunlight protection it is ideal for breakfast or late night cocktails with music. The house has no airconditioning because it never needs it! Its unique location at the top of the cliff ensures cool air streams even during the hotest days and hours of the Greek summer. We are looking forward to receive your reservation George+Zinia
George Delikouras purchased this Mill in 1998

When looking for a place to stay on Santorini for a month, I found the "Sunset Windmill". After confirming the dates, I had the opportunity to "chat" with George the owner about the windmill and my plans on the island. Needless to say, the "Sunset Windmill" is everything advertised and more! Its located in OIa, the best location to watch the sunset, about a 15 minute bus ride from Fira. The janitor meets you at the shuttle drop off and carries your luggage to the mill, after a quick orientation, your stay begins. Its very clean and well maintained.
It has all the comforts of home and more! The pool is near and plenty of restaurants, shopping, and markets nearby. Although it has one shower on the main floor, and it was just me most of the time at the windmill, I did have a couple guests stay for a week and the one shower was not an issue at all. The owner's wife checked in from time to time to ensure everything was okay. I should also add that the owners supplied a document on things to do/where to eat on Santorini. The month flew by and the hardest part was leaving the "Sunset Windmill", but I will definitely go back again. I should also add that I had the opportunity to meet George ,the owner, on my connection from Santorini to Rome, at the Athens airport. We had a great lunch and I learned a lot about the Sunset Mill, Santorini, Greece, and the owners. Don't miss the opportunity if you have the chance. 5 Stars +.
We thank you for your kind words. It was a real pleasure meeting you George!
Great family vacation house and terrific value.
The windmill was the perfect place for our family of five to stay. It is in a wonderful location and we used the nearby pool every day. We were able to easily enjoy nightly sunsets from the front porch then head out to a wonderful meal in downtown Oia. My daughter accidentally left her SD card behind and Zinia was able to locate and mail it to us quickly. George and Zinia are clearly in love with Oia and want their visitors to love it as well.
Fantastic and unique place, in a breathtaking location!
Wonderful and well-appointed windmill in picturesque Oia. Just as advertised, and more. George and Zinia and their caretaker Niko were very communicative and supportive. Brand new kitchen, coffee available, and local wine available for purchase. Loved sitting in the patio and on the upper deck and watching the famous Oia sunset! Convenient parking close by if you have rented a car. Two beaches within walking or driving distance. Many restaurants to walk to, and a pool cafe steps away. Loved, loved, loved it, highly recommend!
Very cozy, with a nice view and great setup!
Everything works great, the house is superb and very close to local restaurants and shops
Thank you so much!
Good location, but caveats
As a first time visitor to Santorini and Oia, I wasn't sure what to expect. The town is beautiful, and this house is wonderful for sunset views, arguably what Oia is most 'famous' for these days. However, I was travelling with my family, which includes three children all under 5 years old. This house was not ideal for us. The shower was too small, there was NO noise separation between the bedroom/sleeping areas, and the house was pretty full of mosquitos in mid-April. However, the price was good for the location, and the house was furnished nicely. The caretaker was also very helpful and did a pretty good job cleaning and preparing the property for our arrival. I wish the owners had provided more detailed instructions for finding the property. You have to walk to it and it is not easy to find the way as a first time visitor arriving by bus to Oia bus station.
The windmill is not easy to find for first time visitors. There is no address to put in the GPS if you have a car. You can only use Google coordinates that are published publicly but this is for computer geeks.
For this reason we strongly recommend to the visitors to use our door to door service that is cheaper than taxi at least for the arrival. Rarely visitors insist not to listen to the owner and take their risks. For them holiday is also an opportunty for adventure!
In any case they always find the mill. There are only 3 wind mills at the north edge of the town and all three of them are next to each other. The walking distance from the parking lot to the mills is 50-60 meters, not more.
Best View in Oia
We enjoyed our stay at the Sunset Windmill, from the 1st moment we entered the patio until the day we sadly left. It was nice to have a full kitchen, sitting area and bathroom with shower on the main floor. Then the second level was the master bedroom (with a convenient half bath) and a door that opened to a wrap-around balcony, great for viewing the sunset. We knew we were in the perfect place when we saw multiple bride and grooms with their professional photographers taking their pictures on the path below us!
Note that the stairs to the bedrooms are steep and winding. We were judicious about the times we went upstairs. Also, there was very limited space to unpack clothing, so we keep things in our suitcases. There was a washing machine and a handy rack for drying clothes on the patio.
