Secluded Forest Retreat, 3 Bedroom, 2 1/2 Bath, Sleeps 10,
Rock Haven is a beautiful and modern multilevel cabin built in front of a limestone cliff that towers above it, located in a secluded forest valley adjacent to Natural Bridge State Park and near the Red River Gorge. It easily accommodates 10 persons. Come and feel the excitement of being in the middle of the forest, enjoy the beautifully designed wood interior, and relax in this comfortable vacation home, that is supplied with Wifi and a landline phone. If you are interested in staying at Rock Haven, click on "Send a message" or click on "Request to Book."
The lovely spaces in Rock Haven include four bedrooms including one on the middle level, one on the lower level with two beds, and the two loft bedrooms (both without doors) , 2 ½ baths, a whirlpool room with a view of the rocky cliff, a fully equipped and roomy kitchen, an inviting spacious living room, a fantastic sun-room to relax in, a front deck surrounded by the tall trees, and a back deck almost within arm’s reach of the cliff. All linens, blankets, and towels, and some basic kitchen items such as spices and napkins are provided so all you need to bring is food, drink and personal items to have the perfect stay. The deep woods and the cliff-side location moderate the summer heat and winter cold and ensure that only the sounds of nature are heard. In addition, the location is close to the area's attractions--the many arches, hiking trails, scenic drives, and a surprising variety of restaurants.
Cell phone service is available--best via Verizon, spotty for other providers unless one goes to the top of the hill. There is Wifi, a TV and a DVD player, but no cable service. Feel free to stream or bring your own movies for family entertainment. You can choose not to use the Wifi, and maybe discover, or experience again, how rewarding it is to quietly sit on the deck and to enjoy the sounds of the forest both in early morning and in the evenings. This is a wonderful way to experience nature.

About Corrie Vos
My husband, Arvin Vos, and I were living in Bowling Green, KY, where he taught philosophy and I practiced psychology, when together with our daughter we bought Rock Haven. We have had marvelous family times there with our five children and grandchildren. Now that we have retired to Michigan and our children have established themselves in places across the country, we especially enjoy spending time together at Rock Haven.
Corrie Vos purchased this Cabin in 2002
Why Corrie Vos chose Wolfe County
The moment we saw Rock Haven, built almost against a towering cliff, surrounded by forest, built of local lumber inside and out, we knew we wanted to own it. Over the years we have added several rooms, modified the most rustic features to increase comfort and convenience, and built a beautiful oak spiral stairs leading up to the upper level. We are happy to share it with our guests, which defrays some of our costs, and provides some work for our housekeepers.
What makes this Cabin unique
We love our beautiful and comfy cabin, the rock climbing opportunities, the cycling in the Gorge, eating at restaurants like Miguel's pizza and Rock House, and the fantastic scenery and hiking, but what we love most is that it is a quiet and peaceful place to enjoy being in nature.

We recently stayed at Rock Haven Cabin for 2 nights for a mini-honeymoon and we couldn't have been happier we chose Rock Haven! I think the most impressive part about the cabin, and there are many, was the cleanliness. Every nook and cranny was spic and span, including the bannisters and ceilings...not a single cobweb! - when staying in other cabins we always noticed this to be a particular problem with cabin rentals. As others have mentioned, the cabin is close to Natural Bridge, Red River Gorge and eateries/shops for the essentials, yet very secluded. The cabin is very large and would comfortably sleep 10. The kitchen is well stocked and the beds and pillows are fresh and cozy. We loved all of the windows letting in natural light.
Corrie was a dream to deal with! My new husband and I ran into snag right before our visit that could've made our trip impossible but she was extremely accommodating so that we didn't have to cancel. We just couldn't be pleased with the entire vacation!
Thank you Corrie for sharing your wonderful cabin with us!
Awesome Location for Friends Weekend
Had a great weekend with some friends at Rock Haven. The location was great, the cabin was clean and everything was as listed. Corrie communicated everything well and was able to help quickly when we had trouble getting in. Easily fit all 8 of us with room for more. Would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone!
Large cabin in the woods.
Large, secluded cabin. The kids liked climbing the rocks a few feet out the back doorway. The hiking in the area was amazing. Lots of rock formations, waterfalls, and creeks. We enjoyed the local restaurants recommended as well.
We stayed at Corrie's home for a climbing retreat with friends. The house is located in just the right place to access all of the local crags. We stocked up on groceries in Lexington and were comfortable with the size and amenities available in the kitchen. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this home to anyone coming to the area to climb.
Great roomy cabin in the woods
This is a great place to stay for the weekend or longer. Homely, cozy, and comfortable. I would highly recommend staying here. Close to a lot of attractions but secluded for your privacy.
Great cabin but some things need attention
The cabin was nice. However the WiFi did not work. I was able to connect to it but was redirected to a troubleshooting site. Which is frustrating coming from out of town and have limited resources to figure out things in the area. Thankfully my cell reception was okay there. The chairs in the kitchen were not great. My mom sat down and it completely collapsed under her and she fell pretty hard. Most were not very sturdy and one appeared to be glued back together. The owner said she emailed me the code to get the key to the cabin at the time of the reservation and no where tracking back did I find it. So when it came time to get in the cabin there was a delay to get ahold of the owner. Overall, very nice cabin but those couple of things need to be addressed by the owner to make the stay better and safer for future visitors.
Rock Haven is located in Rocky Hollow, a valley on Mill Creek upstream from Mill Lake. It is just off the Glen Cairn-Rogers road, between Highways 11 and 15. Natural Bridge State Park is a five minute drive away. The Mountain Parkway is about five miles away is. Going in the other direction is Muir Valley about 8 miles away. In addition to being close to many of the best known rock climbing sites in the area, there are numerous hiking trails in the Red River Gorge and at Natural Bridge State Park. In the summer on Friday and Saturday evenings there is folk dancing near the Park's visitor center. There is a public swimming area at the park, open in season. Most of all, the valley location of the cabin is a quiet wooded retreat where it is possible to reconnect with nature, experience the rhythms of the day and evening. In summer, the trees around the cabin provide the comfort of shade, especially on the deck, and in late fall and early spring the cliff protects from the wind, and so the deck is a lovely place to sit in the sun. Nearby there is opportunity to enjoy a Zipline at Cliffwood and also a Via Ferrata. For those interested in rock climbing, Muir Valley and the many other sites that the area is famous for, are within a short drive. If you enjoy sight-seeing, then taking the loop drive from Pine Ridge through the Gorge to Slade is a wonderful introduction to the area. Even better is cycling the same route.
