Our house is on 3.5 acres of woods full of deer, wild turkeys, fox, rabbits and the occasional black bear. All rooms have ceiling fans to move the mountain air through the home.
Big Canoe is an 8000 acre gated resort in a wild life sanctuary and hard wood forest. All amenities are within a short drive from our home. Hiking trails are along streams and waterfalls in beautiful forests with signs of the early inhabitants. There is a jeep trail for those who want to drive to the falls.
The amenities will keep everyone as busy as they would like. One of the three lakes has a beach area, with adjacent pool and natural rock slide in the stream falling from the lake. Paddle boats and canoes are available to rent. A second lake holds the marina where there are electric boats to rent and canoes and paddle boats. There is fishing from the shore or boat. The third lake is surrounded by the scenic 27 whole golf course and the view from the new club house restaurant and sports bar is magnificent.
The fitness center, indoor saline lap pool, indoor tennis and racquet ball courts are state of the art and impeccably maintained. The second outdoor pool has a children's fountain area. There is a playground and soccer field as well.
You have to experience Big Canoe!! It is like camping in luxury!
We are about 20 minutes away from the outlet malls and the town of Jasper. Nearby is antique shopping, site-seeing, horseback riding, river rafting and more.

Why Vicky Malcolm chose Dawson County
We love to camp in the North Georgia Mountains and have had a hard time finding private and secluded camp grounds with close access to water and facilities. When we found our house in Big Canoe, we knew this was meant to be. Our house is secluded, and has all the activities we love. Canoeing, hiking, and swimming in a scenic and natural setting with complete privacy and the safety we want for our children.

The home was lovely. My family of 6 had plenty of space. We were in town for my daughters graduation so we didnt have time to enjoy any of the local attractions.
VERY nice place to stay!
We enjoyed our stay so much. There was plenty of room to spread out and the screened in porch was perfect for the weather! We had everything we needed even though we didn’t cook while we were there. My son came to hike the Appalachian Trail and was so looking forward to getting started but had a hard time leaving the house because it was so comfortable! Don’t hesitate to book this property!
Perfect for our needs and very clean. Exactly as described and maybe a little better!
Relaxin' in the Geogia Mountains
Never having visited North Georgia or staying in a VRBO, we didn't know what to expect. We were not disappointed in the home or the location. We have family in Jasper and they stayed with us even though they lived only 20 minutes away. It was a vacation for them as well
Mornings were spent planning the day events while sipping coffee, eating breakfast and looking out at the beautiful woods and mountains During our stay we saw a bear, deer and wild turkeys. It was peaceful and quiet and most of all relaxing. The only disappointment was the fact the fall colors were extremely late this year and we only saw a few of the trees that had turned color before we had to return home.
A huge thanks to our home owners for truly a home away from home.
It was a great place for family to get away
Great home away from home
All you can ask for
Our house is located close to Lake Petit. It is very private, and Big Canoe offers everything you would like to do in the mountains of Georgia. The lakes and streams and waterfalls are beautiful and very accessable. There is a natural rock slide in the stream close to the beach and pool. You will feel like you have gotten away and still have all the ammenities to entertain every member of your party.
