A perfect 'honeymoon getaway' for any stage in your relationship, our cozy and romantic A-frame is situated one hundred feet from our large Tudor A-frame with a stand of cedar in between for privacy. It is old-world styled to match, furnished in antiques, with a separate drive and beach area.
Inside, it is an efficiency-type with tumbled marble floor, electric heat, a Queen Anne futon that makes into a very comfortable double bed, a combination sink-stove-refrigerator/freezer unit, and kitchen area. There is a half-bath with built in vanity and granite counter top and an attached classy stone and timber private hot outdoor two-person shower.
There is a large stone and cedar deck overlooking Lake Michigan, complete with deck chairs and an elaborate corner bench and table for outside dining. The view from there is spectacular; and from the beach a few steps away, you can see Charlevoix, Beaver Island, and the entrance to the Straits of Mackinaw.
M119, at the top of our bluff, is extremely popular with bicyclists and car buffs who never tire of the 'green tunnel of trees' with magnificent views of the lake between Harbor Springs and the sand dunes of Sturgeon Bay north of Cross Village. Evenings will provide some of the most beautiful sunsets you have ever seen and occasional northern-light spectacles best viewed near the warmth of a beach fire.

I had been waiting to get the opportunity to visit this guest house for about five years + and finally we did. We totally enjoyed the location as we had our own private beach area right on my favorite Great Lake--Michigan! On a scale of 1 to 5, I'd rate it a 10. So romantic, cozy and beautifully created! We've rented many places and this is probably my favorite. My husband and I plan to return next year. Stunning view out the front door and ditto while taking outdoor shower. You can easily cook with two burners and plenty of kitchen supplies and also supplied outdoor grill. We didn't go out to eat the day we were there as we wanted to rush back to enjoy the house, have a campfire and watch the sunset. Doesn't get any better than this!
We had the pleasure of spending our 2nd Anniversary at this amazing lake cottage! From the moment we arrived with our 2 pugs, we knew it was going to be hard to leave. The location couldn't be more perfect, tucked under some trees, with a perfectly manicured lawn and a direct view/access out to the lake. The pictures really don't capture the beauty of the location and the craftsmanship of the cottage. The description and photos of the interior are extremely accurate and you can tell how small (and perfectly cozy) the cottage is. It worked great for us, even with the 2 small dogs. And once you arrive, you will want to spend every waking moment out on the porch, or down at the beach. We made a beach fire every evening and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows and played guitar while the sun was setting. And it was so lovely to sleep with the door open and hear the waves crashing into the rocks at night. It was by far the most peaceful and relaxing vacation, just what we needed to escape the big city hustle!
The owners are fantastic and we had such nice conversations with Richard while there, who provided us with lots of details and made sure we were well taken care of. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality!
We cannot wait to come back next year to this magical cottage!
My best friend and I stayed here for the weekend plus one day. We LOVED it. It was tiny but we loved it so much!! It had everything we needed and more. It was cozy and beautiful. Plenty of privacy. The shower was AMAZING. The views at the location were to die for. We spent lots of time on the deck or the campfire/beach area. We will return!!!
This place was smaller than expected but no complaints here. We wanted to stay longer!!!
The Beach House is in a beautiful location, but the structure itself is a real problem. We left after just 1 night. The description says it’s an efficiency but it’s actually about ½ that size at most. It can’t be more than 100 sq. feet (about 10 paces in each direction--maybe ½ the size of a small motel room), and that’s just the floor space: It’s an A-frame, so the walls are pitched at a steep angle, making the head space more limited the closer you get to the sides, like an A-shaped tent. The materials and craftsmanship are high quality but the layout did little to make the space more usable. The owner was very clear that we were not to wear our shoes inside because of the marble floor, so we had to leave them out in the rain because there was literally nowhere to put them where they weren’t in the way—nowhere to put anything, for that matter. When you fold out the futon bed, it comes right to the front door so you don’t have any privacy if you keep the screen door open (someone standing at the door is literally right at the foot of your bed, looking down on you!). The bed was also very uncomfortable, with a pronounced dip in the middle. The kitchen is well equipped, but so small it’s not really usable. We spent a good 3 hrs. while we were there trying to make it work because the location is so beautiful, but this place is too tiny even for 2 people who live in a small condo where we’re used to being somewhat cramped. Bottom line, in our view the description doesn't make clear just how tiny this place really is. If you're OK with super-tiny, plan to spend almost no time inside there, have very little stuff with you, and essentially eat out the whole time, it could be fine for you. For us, all these drawbacks were too much.
We honeymooned here for a week starting the day after our wedding and it was the PERFECT place for the two of us. If you are looking to recharge and disconnect, this is the spot. Walking the beach is so relaxing and very private. Richard & Stephanie Guyor are excellent hosts with recommendations for awesome places to eat and visit in the area. Their love for the property and the area is abundant and evident in every inch. My husband and I both agree that staying in their little A-frame was our favorite vacation to date! During our stay we dined and shopped in Harbor Springs, spent a night on Mackinac Island, and were engrossed driving along the tunnel of trees. It’s hard to believe just how beautiful this area is. This was our first experience using a website like homeaway, and we could not have been more pleased. We would recommend this space for anyone looking to relax in solitude while still being a short drive away from adorable towns for meals out and casual shopping. Be sure to walk up the beach to the public lookout for a memorable sunset stroll. Also stop into the Good Hart general store for some treats and to indulge in made to order crepes. Harbor Springs is very picturesque and a short drive away. This was also our first time visiting Mackinac Island, which was only about a 40 minute drive to the ferry. We will certainly be back and cannot wait to catch up with Rick and Stephanie when we do.
A retirement celebration trip to see beautiful autumn colors in northern Michigan with my husband Larry (married 41 years) included a very special and delightful two night stay at Richard & Stephanie Guyor's darling A-Frame beach home in Harbor Springs. I was looking for a charming place near Lake Michigan, nestled in the woods and this darling little place was just the ticket! Talk about clever and efficient construction... this wonderful economy size hide-a-way had everything we needed and was designed with comfort & convenience in mind and eye appeal. We were so pleased with the features of this mini beauty... such as the gorgeous interior wood and marble tile floor, nice built-in places for things, a great TV with lots and lots of stations, a multi-purpose space saving kitchen unit that contained a frig, a good size sink and burners for stove-top cooking and all the necessary dishes & kitchen utensils, There was a very nice inside half bath with toilet & sink and cabinet underneath and a fabulous outdoor shower (which felt terrific!). For sleeping, we pulled out a lovely futon that turned into a comfortable bed. Larry is 6'1" and he didn't have any problem with bumping his head. We loved the big desk with an unobstructed view of Lake Michigan and we made a point of star gazing on the deck at night. One of our favorite thing was sitting on the beach at night with a campfire and watching/listening to the waves coming into shore. We wished we had been able to stay a whole week, as it would have been fun to explore the beach & woods more. The ride to get to this A-Frame was gorgeous in fall and parts of it took us through the M-119 "Tunnel of Trees" which was just fantastic to do... amazing colors & views of Lake Michigan! Our host, Richard, was such an attentive host and made sure we knew all the features of his beach home and gave us tips about where to eat in the area. We enjoyed Legs Inn (authentic Polish food yum yum) and New York (classy restaurant, delicious food and two for one pricing before 5:30 pm!) Richard was very interesting and quite talented and showed us the stone waterfalls he had created throughout his property, including a real moat and drawbridge at his adjacent home. All in all... we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at this special A-frame beach home and would definitely go there again... maybe next summer, so we could enjoy playing in Lake Michigan too - with some kayaks that are made available for guests. Excellent stay!
