I love to fish, and love it best in Islamorada. Islamorada used to be my home away from home, now I just call it home. I have 2 kids and 5 grandkids that live up North and visit mostly in the winter months. :) My home is very clean and reflects my fun personality. If you choose to stay with me, you'll keep coming back. It is very private, tranquil and has a million dollar view, either during the day or under the starry starry night you'll love it---these waters are soothing to the soul.
In the 1800's they used these waters for medicinal purposes, the RX was written for 'healing waters'
Penny purchased this mobile home in 2006
I love the keys and am a fishing gal. This location is quiet and has some of the best fishing in the world. I am full of good fishing spots and suggestions.
I enjoy all of my neighbors and friends in the keys, I say Islamorada is where the fishing is great, but my friends are better.
If you are looking for a place to rent in the Keys where you can “live like the locals” this is the place for you! This is our third year renting this adorable mobile home and we have already booked it for next year. The view of the ocean is outstanding and there is so much to do without ever leaving this gem. The interior of the home is very comfy and homey. I don’t do much cooking, but you have a stove, fridge and microwave at your disposal. There is also a grill outside for your use. The king size bed is awesome as is the double shower. Outside there is a patio and your own personal dock for relaxing, sunning and fishing. We spent most of our time outside in the wonderful enclosed porch that includes a second fridge, a bar, washer and drier along with a table and chairs. There is also a golf cart, 2 kayaks and 2 bikes at your disposal. The owner, Wendy, was awesome to work with and we will miss working with her. I say “was” because during our stay this year, she sold the mobile home to a dear sweet woman, Penny, who will go out of her way to make your stay enjoyable. My husband is an avid fisherman and fished practically every day off “our” dock while we were there. This year he caught several fish including needle fish (for bait) puffer fish, box fish, barracuda and even an eel! Sometimes Penny would join him fishing but I think my husband caught more (sorry Penny!). The ocean is only 3 steps away and I spent a lot of time collecting seashells and swimming. The neighbors in this mobile home park are very friendly and we have gotten to know several of them. It seems like we meet someone new each year. Islamorada is right in the middle of the Keys and is only a short drive to Key Largo or Marathon. The only thing negative I must say is that our time went by too quickly and before we knew it we were packing up to leave. You will truly not be disappointed if you rent this mobile home. You will get a feel of real Keys living at its finest!
If you are looking for a place to experience Keys living like the "locals" this is the place for you! This was our third time at this rental and again we were not disappointed. In fact, we are already booked for 2018! The mobile home is very homey - to us it's exactly like being at home but with better weather and an awesome view of the ocean. You will not be able to find another place like it. During our stay, we spent 90 percent of our time outdoors as the weather was perfect. You will find all of the comforts of home inside this mobile home. The couch and chairs are comfy and the king size bed is awesome. I did not do much cooking this year but there is a stove, microwave, fridge and grill included. It was very clean when we arrived and all I had to do was unpack and start relaxing. The outside, including the view, will blow you away. My husband is an avid fisherman and every year we come he catches a different species of fish - this year he caught needle fish to use as bait, puffer fish, box fish, barracuda and even an eel! He also caught a different kind of fish that we have yet to identify. From your personal dock, you can swim in the ocean. I found several different types of seashells while we were there. During our stay this year, the mobile home was sold to a dear woman named Penny. She is the type of person that will go out of her way to help with anything you need just as the previous owner, Wendy did. We quickly became friends and she fished alongside my husband (my husband caught more fish though - sorry Penny!). Getting back to the outside of the mobile home, there is an outdoor patio, grill and a great enclosed porch where we spent most of our time. There is nothing to want at this place - there are also 2 kayaks, 2 bikes, plenty of fishing equipment to use, etc... Also, the neighbors in this mobile home community are the friendliest people around. Each year we stay we meet more of the neighbors. Sometimes you will see manatees in the marina. If you have a boat, you will be able to dock it in the marina for a small price. I cannot say enough about this place. I'm sure there are things I missed saying but take it from me, you will not be disappointed to rent here. We chose Islamorada because it is midway between the other Keys.
Yes, this place does have a million-dollar view, but that's just the beginning of it. If you you're looking for an extremely comfortable place to stay in the keys with all the amenities you could possibly want for a perfect vacation, this place is for you. You have your own private dock to fish from, a charming enclosed patio with lawn chairs, tables, canoes, a bonus outdoor 'room' with a bar, table, 2nd fridge, washer/dryer. There is plenty of room to spread out. The interior of the 2 bedroom rental is well equipped, very comfortable and charming. Not only can you tell that Wendy put a lot of effort into making this place as close to paradise as possible, but must have been living there when she did so, because it doesn't just have the 'look', it actually fulfills. I also have to mention some of the unexpected bonuses; use of a golf cart & boat slip just 1 block away, a large walk-in shower, the softest sheets & most comfortable beds, fishing gear & coolers free to use, and finally, a really awesome property owner who was super helpful and fun to talk to. We will definitely be back.
A perfect getaway!
The Oceanside location was perfect with magnificent evening views of the Atlantic under a full moon.
Sitting on the waterfront veranda and recounting the day's activities and the fishing was idyllic.....and the cool(er) nights made it hard to leave the dock and go to bed!
We fished off the dock under the full moon and high tide and had tremendous non-stop action!
Everything we could have dreamed of was available to us at Wendy's getaway; kayaks, swimming gear, fish cleaning station, dual refrigerators and more than enough room for our three adults and three small children.
Wendy's location to dining and entertainment was perfect and we were close to everything we needed.
We'll be back for sure.
Where do I begin? We arrived in the middle of a rainstorm. Wendy met us on her golf cart (getting we all the while) to show us where to park the boat trailer, where to put the boat in the slip, the trailer where we were staying, etc. Then, she even offered to take the boat ride from the Gulf side where I put in, to the Atlantic side where it would stay tied up. It was only a 25 minute ride or so, but it was raining all the while. What a sport!
We had little car troubles and she was able to recommend a reliable mechanic down the street. So helpful.
The trailer is right off the water. There are only two other places that are between you and the Atlantic Ocean, but you will have a beautiful view from your backyard. It's shallow and the kids loved swimming there, playing with crabs on the wall, and just having fun in the water.
I fished daily. It was windy and not easy to find the big game fish. Luckily on the fifth day, things started looking up and we were able to catch lots of keeper fish. Snappers, an Amber Jack, Hogfish, etc. We also snorkeled over the reef that was a few miles out. There are buoys you tie up to (Tie your boat rope up to their buoy rope - they ask you to use about 6 foot of your rope when tying up.) and just float on the water looking down at all the beauty. Be sure to have a dive flag.
Thanks for a wonderful stay and we hope to come back and see you again.
This was the second time we stayed at Camp Wendy. It was great as usual. All the toys, the location, the atmosphere.... It's all there.
It's like staying at you favorite sisters house that is in the perfect spot.
We will rent no other place in the Keys.
