I love to fish, and love it best in Islamorada. Islamorada used to be my home away from home, now I just call it home. I have 2 kids and 5 grandkids that live up North and visit mostly in the winter months. :) My home is very clean and reflects my fun personality. If you choose to stay with me, you'll keep coming back. It is very private, tranquil and has a million dollar view, either during the day or under the starry starry night you'll love it---these waters are soothing to the soul.
In the 1800's they used these waters for medicinal purposes, the RX was written for 'healing waters'
Wendy purchased this mobile home in 2006
I love the keys and am a fishing gal. This location is quiet and has some of the best fishing in the world. I am full of good fishing spots and suggestions.
I enjoy all of my neighbors and friends in the keys, I say Islamorada is where the fishing is great, but my friends are better.
Yes, this place does have a million-dollar view, but that's just the beginning of it. If you you're looking for an extremely comfortable place to stay in the keys with all the amenities you could possibly want for a perfect vacation, this place is for you. You have your own private dock to fish from, a charming enclosed patio with lawn chairs, tables, canoes, a bonus outdoor 'room' with a bar, table, 2nd fridge, washer/dryer. There is plenty of room to spread out. The interior of the 2 bedroom rental is well equipped, very comfortable and charming. Not only can you tell that Wendy put a lot of effort into making this place as close to paradise as possible, but must have been living there when she did so, because it doesn't just have the 'look', it actually fulfills. I also have to mention some of the unexpected bonuses; use of a golf cart & boat slip just 1 block away, a large walk-in shower, the softest sheets & most comfortable beds, fishing gear & coolers free to use, and finally, a really awesome property owner who was super helpful and fun to talk to. We will definitely be back.
A perfect getaway!
The Oceanside location was perfect with magnificent evening views of the Atlantic under a full moon.
Sitting on the waterfront veranda and recounting the day's activities and the fishing was idyllic.....and the cool(er) nights made it hard to leave the dock and go to bed!
We fished off the dock under the full moon and high tide and had tremendous non-stop action!
Everything we could have dreamed of was available to us at Wendy's getaway; kayaks, swimming gear, fish cleaning station, dual refrigerators and more than enough room for our three adults and three small children.
Wendy's location to dining and entertainment was perfect and we were close to everything we needed.
We'll be back for sure.
Where do I begin? We arrived in the middle of a rainstorm. Wendy met us on her golf cart (getting we all the while) to show us where to park the boat trailer, where to put the boat in the slip, the trailer where we were staying, etc. Then, she even offered to take the boat ride from the Gulf side where I put in, to the Atlantic side where it would stay tied up. It was only a 25 minute ride or so, but it was raining all the while. What a sport!
We had little car troubles and she was able to recommend a reliable mechanic down the street. So helpful.
The trailer is right off the water. There are only two other places that are between you and the Atlantic Ocean, but you will have a beautiful view from your backyard. It's shallow and the kids loved swimming there, playing with crabs on the wall, and just having fun in the water.
I fished daily. It was windy and not easy to find the big game fish. Luckily on the fifth day, things started looking up and we were able to catch lots of keeper fish. Snappers, an Amber Jack, Hogfish, etc. We also snorkeled over the reef that was a few miles out. There are buoys you tie up to (Tie your boat rope up to their buoy rope - they ask you to use about 6 foot of your rope when tying up.) and just float on the water looking down at all the beauty. Be sure to have a dive flag.
Thanks for a wonderful stay and we hope to come back and see you again.
This was the second time we stayed at Camp Wendy. It was great as usual. All the toys, the location, the atmosphere.... It's all there.
It's like staying at you favorite sisters house that is in the perfect spot.
We will rent no other place in the Keys.

Thank you Wendy for letting us stay with you.We are looking forward to next year's stay. It's hard to describe the peaceful relaxed atmosphere at this location.Even though you have neighbors on either side of you, the remoteness that you feel the minute you go out into the pleasant yard area to relax, read,or just enjoy the peace and beauty of Islamorada. Diane enjoyed kayaking when conditions fit and I fished everyday right off Wendy's dock. I caught barracuda,Mangrove snapper," puffers", rays, and other strange species. We saw tarpon swimming the area-It's all here!! I look forward to bringing fly fishing gear and trying for bone fish and countless other fish. For anyone wanting to get on a boat,I recommend checking out Bud and Marys just down the road. I limited out on yellow tail on the day I went out.
As far as the hospitality? 2nd to none. We had to call Wendy a couple of times with questions and her response was immediate. This is our 1st stay at Wendy's Camp. There is no better people than Wendy. She is very accommodating and a pleasure to deal with. Her idea of a "camp" is identical to ours (we have a camp in northern Maine with similar qualities and atmosphere). You will feel the warmth the minute you enter her place, decorations,cleanliness,kayaks,2 bikes, golf cart for tooling around in- Personally, this was the best relaxed vacation I have had since I retired. WE WILL BE BACK!!
Thanks Wendy, you truly have a piece of heaven.
PS.Hi to Buck!
If you are looking for a vacation that is authentic Keys Life, then this is the place for you. My husband and I come to this property every year and have never been disappointed. Wendy, the owner, is amazing and will go above and beyond to ensure that you have every chance to put some check marks on your bucketlist. For the fisherman, it doesnt get any better than this place! Each year we come here, we catch and see new things. This year, the winds were strong the entire time. Instead of being upset about it, we found that it gave us an opportunity to see some incredible things. The winds were out of the NE which moved more water into our area. I am assuming that this is why we got to see dolphins and manatees this year. They came right past the dock!! Keys life isnt about looking for perfection in your vacation, it is about going with the flow and seeing each thing as a new adventure and an opportunity to see new things. The fishing was a bit different this year due to the winds and cloudy water, but we did catch things that we normally dont, which included yellow jack and a few green moray eels. We did catch our usual fish though which includes, tarpon, mangrove snapper, bonnethead shark, stingrays, cowfish, puffers and grunts. We also saw bonefish and nurse sharks that cruised past the dock. The best part of coming here every year is that when you put your line in the water and the drag starts screaming, you truly never know what you will find on the other end. As you can tell, my husband and I come here for the fishing. We fish every high tide and sleep at low tide. For the non-fisherman, this place offers just as much entertainment with the kayaks, bicycles, golf cart and a beautiful private backyard to escape the world and put all the pieces back together again!! Thanks again, Wendy, for the fabulous vacation!!
