Perfect Dingle Destination

  • 5 of 5

We rent vacation homes on a regular basis and Leah and Eric are far and away the most pleasant and helpful owners we've ever had the pleasure to deal with. Lovely over the e-mails, phone and in person! We felt so comfortable in their home - and they were always free to answer questions. Everyone had a cozy bed and after lots of hiking and exploring the boys and my husband enjoyed the easy to use tv's and wi-fi. I personally couldn't get enough of looking out the windows and the magnificent views. As Star Wars fans, we can't wait to see the "Skellig Wars" segments in the next movie! The beach location was also perfect for castle building until 10:00 at night - as the sun sets so late in the summer!

Eric's tour was a highlight for us with his great storytelling and fact sharing. He also showed us places we were able to drive ourselves back to later for our own explorations and he was so patient allowing me a few extra minutes for snapping photos. We enjoyed visiting their gallery in Dingle and did buy some beautiful prints (thank you for the gifts to our boys!)

Dingle is a lovely town with lots to do. We enjoyed every shop, pub, etc. we tried. Murphy's ice cream became a daily destination. Other reviews give more suggestions, our family just says - it's all good around the Dingle Peninsula / Ring of Kerry area.

Our favorite two things about our amazing Irish adventure

1. EVERYONE in Ireland is so kind, helpful, and just the most lovely people you will ever meet!

2. Everything you see is a postcard vision! Each home, each vista, each cliff, ancient ruin, church, graveyard, pub, baby lamb.... Everyone cares for their homes and property and it shows - It's Heaven here and our family will definitely be back!

We highly recommend this home especially if you love to walk/hike along the coast and enjoy having a cozy spot where you can enjoy a lovely view every day. Lots to do within a short driving distance too.

Thank you, Leah and Eric! We so enjoyed meeting you :)

What a fabulous time six lifelong friends had in Leah and Eric's beautiful house on the Ring of Dingle! After hiking the gorgeous area called Clougher Strand a bit (an hour or twoevery day), enjoying the very informative historical and archeological tour with Eric (not to be missed), taking a thousand pictures or more of the breathtaking vistas, tapping a lively foot or two at the local music concerts practically every night, fishing out of the sea and a local restaurant chef serving it up for us, and making pottery purchases at the gallery down the road, what more could be done to make this a perfect stay?! Well, there is the perfectly appointed house that was so cozy and comfortable with original paintings done by family members, high end appliances to make cooking a really fun activity, and spectacular views out of every window. Leah made sure we knew how to manage the workings throughout the house with tasteful cards posting directions in case we were unsure! Loved that! The six of us had the perfect stay in their lovely home. We felt very welcome, and send our humble thank yous to Leah and Eric for making this stay so wonderful. Dingle, and in particular, Clougher Strand, has now become our favorite spot in Ireland!

Irish Dream

  • 5 of 5

Somewhere in Ireland there might be a rental property with more spectacular vistas. Somewhere in Ireland there might be a more luxuriously appointed house. Somewhere in Ireland there might be a house with nicer, more attentive and accommodating owners. But nowhere, in Ireland or elsewhere, are you likely to find a place that surpasses Clogher Beach on the Dingle Peninsula in all three particulars. Our extended family of six spent 14 idyllic days (in uncommonly un-Irish weather) at Leah and Eric's exquisitely decorated home. The walls are adorned with wonderful works of art, much of it created by members of Leah's talented family, and various artifacts and collectibles add to the abundantly charming interior. Even Leah's helpful instructions on how to use various equipment, appliances and devices - and what NOT to use (i.e., certain collectibles) - are strategically placed throughout the home in uniform, tasteful frames.

Leah's hospitality is boundless, as is her familiarity with the surrounding territory, especially the town of Dingle, the village of Ballyferriter and the residents and businesses of both. Eric's archeological tour is a pleasure not to be missed. (It is included, apparently, in the cost of the rent, for he refused any gratuity or offer to pay for gas.)

The geographical and archeological attributes of the area, as well as the culinary and entertainment offerings have been aptly described in other reviews. Suffice it to note we enjoyed them all. Especially enjoyable were golf at Ceann Sibeal (for father and son), horseback riding (wife and daughter), Irish culinary class (all the cookers in the group, including sister) and hikes in the surrounding trails, hills and mountains (by all, though only daughter, son-in-law and son were up to the more challenging adventures).

It was, in short, the trip of a lifetime. We will be forever grateful to Leah and Eric for providing beautiful memories that will last as long as we do.

Unsere Reise

  • 5 of 5

Sunburn in Dingle

  • 5 of 5

In addition to being lucky with the weather on Ireland’s stunning west coast during our stay we can’t praise this vacation home more. We have stayed in many rental properties across the US and Europe but our recent stay made it to the top of the list. Leah and Eric are welcoming hosts and very knowledgeable about the area, happily providing recommendations on local activities and events and in our case went out of their way to help the stranded traveler (thank you again). Their home offers every bit of luxury for the self-catering, very spacious and distinctively decorated to make for a relaxing and comfortable stay. It really is a dream home to stay in, we especially enjoyed spending time in the sunroom / dining room with all the spectacular outside views and natural light. The house is stunningly located between Clogher Head and Sybil Point with fantastic views out front to the Blasket Islands. Pretty Clogher Strand is a 5 minute walk and we enjoyed a peaceful morning coffee stroll down there greeting the local farm animals (sheep, donkey, and cows). There is good bird watching in the surrounding fields as well as off shore where Gannets can be seen diving for fish. For the enthusiastic hiker the Dingle Way passes along the coastline right by the house and with a little fence hopping Croaghmarhin hill can be accessed from the back of the house offering panoramic views of the Blaskets, Brandon Mtn. as well as Dingle and Ventry harbors. One can walk over to the pottery café nearby for lunch or Irish afternoon tea and scones. Ballyferitter village is a quick 5 minutes by car and offers a variety of non-touristy pubs and dinner options. Within an easy 15 minute drive from the house Dingle town offers shopping, great (seafood) restaurants, pubs and Irish music. We felt that this home made a convenient base to explore everything the Dinge Peninsula has to offer yet providing the serenity of the Irish countryside with no particular need to ever leave.

We'll Never Forget it!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Ireland and we are quite sure it couldn't have been better! After three amazing days in Dublin, we were looking forward to seeing the Irish countryside and getting a feel for the people. Our expectations were exceeded! We wholeheartedly agree with the numerous reviews raving about Leah and Eric! We cannot believe they give up their amazing home to strangers every summer, but feel so fortunate that we were able to experience it. As advertised, the home was gorgeous, incredibly comfortable and so well equipped. We even borrowed their golf clubs! I could go on about the home itself and it's delightful owners, but it is mentioned in so many reviews, I will just say I agree 100%! What I wasn't expecting that I'd like to highlight was the simple breathtaking walks we had right out the front door and the truly wonderful "Irish" experience we had. The directions provided from the information at the home, the comfort of knowing we weren't trespassing, and Eric's great tour gave us the opportunity to walk out the front door and walk for hours (not strenuous walks!) along the most breathtaking countryside I've ever seen in addition to little spots we would've missed if not for our private tour! As an example, on our way back from town one day, driving past an area Eric pointed out, we took a spontaneous detour and found the most incredible beach. It was completely empty (after two young Irish lads ran off with their speared trophy bass), the sun was setting and we had a perfect view of the painting we'd purchased that day their gallery. We now have that beautiful painting hanging over our mantle to bring us back to those cherished memories. Lastly, if you want the "Irish" experience, this is the perfect place to go. Enough can't be said about the graciousness of the hosts, but it didn't stop there. In fact, we didn't run into one person who wasn't overly helpful, polite, friendly, patient and genuinely happy that we were visiting the area. Even when I witnessed an impatient and impolite customer, the reaction from the cafe staff member was gracious and patient. Listening to the local radio stations and the conversation around us by the locals was almost exclusively done in the beautiful Irish language. We didn't expect that! To top it all off, they are Fleetwood Mac fans and happened to attend the concert in Dublin the same night we did, so thats pretty cool too! Thank you to Leah and Eric for an incredible experience!
