DUE to ever changing water levels, the extent of a sandy beach cannot be determined for summer 2017.
Set on the beautiful eastern shore of Suttons Bay, allow Stone Terrace Beach Cottage to be your home 'up north'. Feel the sand and water of Suttons Bay right outside your door or enjoy a crackling fire in the wood burning fireplace. Stone Terrace Beach Cottage is available from Saturday to Saturday during the summer, and on a flexible schedule during the rest of the year. Off season weekend rates are available (see rates below)...please call for details.
Situated on a quiet rural road, two and a half miles from the village of Suttons Bay, Stone Terrace Beach Cottage is the ideal vacation destination with casual elegance in mind. The cottage accommodates a total of eleven utilizing the full futon in the bonus room. A main level deck located off of the living room, provides a great place to take your morning coffee, and stone steps lead to the lower deck where one can sun bathe or catch up with a good read.
Out the back door is nature’s opportunity to walk, jog, bike, or weather permitting, cross country ski!! Nature abounds everywhere!! The quaint village of Suttons Bay, which plays host to great restaurants, boutique shopping, and art galleries, is just a short drive way.
Nearby attractions include Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, Leelanau Sands Casino, and the Interlochen Center for the Arts. Sprinkled throughout Leelanau County you will discover charming villages, wineries, antique dealers, and outdoor recreational opportunities, including access to Lake Michigan. Let the Stone Terrace Beach Cottage be your home away from home for a weekend or a week!!
Features include four bedrooms plus a 5th sleeping room or bonus room with a commanding view of the beach off of the garage; two bedrooms are located on the upper level and two bedrooms (and 5th or bonus room) on the main living level. Three of the bedrooms are furnished with queen beds, one has a full bed with twin bunk above comfortably accommodating nine (or eleven with futon in the seasonal sleeping room). There are 2 baths finished with imported Italian tile.
The Stone Terrace Beach Cottage boasts of 1850 square feet of nicely appointed living space with 2 bathrooms and 100 feet of private sandy beach with a sunset view over the bay. Shallow swimming on Suttons Bay (for the first 200 feet out it is now sandy due to low lake levels). Indoor fireplace and fire pit on the beach. New top of the line Whirlpool appliances with granite kitchen and stackable washer and dryer.
Beautiful landscaping and furnished outdoor deck areas. Weber gas grill. Air conditioning on the main level. Color cable TV with DVD. Wireless High Speed Internet. Pets accepted. Great walking, jogging, hiking out the back door. Village of Suttons Bay is two and a half miles away. All the amenities of home!
NOTE: The water level is rising and the beach area is compromised - I have no idea the size of the beach, if any, after the winter thaw. The firepit will be moved to the front lawn if the water level does not permit this to be beach side. The swimming is still spectacular!

This home was everything we hoped for.
Less than 2 minutes from the village of Suttons Bay we were close to the main artery of the Leelenau Peninsula and had easy access. The home is situated right on Suttons Bay with beautiful views of the bay and sunsets every night. We had three different families travel to meet up for a vacation here and the layout of the home was perfect. A couple bedrooms on one side of the home with a bathroom then the other three bedrooms on the other side with another bathroom. The living area was large and spread out. Perfect for a large group.
Something we really enjoyed here was all of the home's decor and history. The linens were high end and there was always a towel when needed. We made use of the washer/dryer for day to day things, very easy to use and in a convenient spot.
The lounging area by the bay was also large with many chairs. We kayaked and swam everyday. While we miss there not being a beach as the water comes right up to the seawall it really didn't hinder our usage. The water is still shallow enough that our toddler grandson was able to play in the shallow water.
The owner was readily available with any questions we had during our stay and left us ample information on the area in the house for our use.
I highly recommend this home especially for a larger family gathering.
Home has wonderful lake views and great outdoor space with lots of seating, and fire pit. Nice open floor plan with main bath updated. Bedrooms on 2nd floor are tight and one with two beds is very small with no closet. We had a great time and enjoyed the area very much. Blackstar winery is close and the food and wine are excellent.
My wife and I had stayed in Northport the previous year and said that we would come back. This time we brought friends and had a great time! Cross country skiing on the lake out back, 20 minutes from Traverse City and plenty of wonderful little stores to shop at in Suttons Bay. But the house was fantastic - there were five of us and it didn't feel cramped at all. We were so happy to come back to the house, get a fire going and play cards or watch Netflix (we brought an Apple TV). Everything was clean and you can tell the house has been recently remodeled in very "beachy" tones. We loved it so much, we started planning a trip back in the Summer time!
I would consider this perfect for a large family or multiple small groups - highly recommend!
The house was in great shape and the location is terrific. The owner/manager is a perfect gentleman, and he not only was kind enough to accommodate our water-zealous golden, he arranged for excellent weather to boot. The water temperature . . . Well, given that the ice had just receded weeks before, it wasn't too bad. We appreciated the efforts with the mooring buoy which we didn't end up using, and our boat. We'd certainly like to come back if we would be welcomed. Thank you!
Perhaps my rave review is colored by the fantastic weather we had, but I don't think so. My partner and I arranged a Michigan getaway for my extended family (who lives down South), which included three tweens and two dogs. Everyone was suitably impressed with the gorgeous spot on the water, which was close enough to town to walk or bike and enjoy the little village, with a very shallow expanse of water that was warm enough to enjoy in June...It was a magical week. We even had a little wedding ceremony for my mom and her now husband. The kids, adults, and dogs alike all enjoyed the water (with the help of canoes and kayaks we brought); we had cozy fires on the beach; we biked the wine trails; we explored the area - and everyone had a smashingly good time. I really can't imagine a better set u p. The house was big enough for all 9 of us to have our privacy, and we even made use of the little spare room for office time for myself and my brother when we needed to have conference calls and what not. To top it off, we misplaced my dog's collar while we were there, and Tom found it and send it back to us. That's beyond the call of duty!!! I look forward to the day when we can return to this spot, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore this area.
