Relaxing stay with all the amenities

  • 4 of 5

We spent 2 nights and three days at the Chalet de Nord. 26 km down a gravel road and all the peace & quiet we were looking for! The lake is shallow and relatively warm, we had a lovely time canoeing around and swimming off the dock. The firepit was our nightly hang out spot :) The beds are super comfy, not too soft nor too hard. The kitchen is very well equipped as are the bathrooms. I highly recommend this chalet!

Large and comfy with private access to a quiet lake

  • 5 of 5

Huge place and well equipped. Stayed with a young family. The best bits were the lake access, firepit and authentic cottage experience.

Place has everything you need. As others have said it is a little dimly lit but that was no problem for us. Do bring your own water as the lake water is not to everyone's taste.

There is a large canoe with about 6 life jackets. One of the jackets is small and perfect for our 3 year old child. There are 2 junior jackets too.

One thing to note for vegetarians is there are some animal trophy's (heads) on the walls.

A chalet in a beautiful Setting, but not so good an experience

  • 2 of 5

We stayed for three nights at this place. It is set near a small lake with beautiful view, great swimming and enjoyable canoe ride and a great view of the waterfall nearby. There were plenty of life jackets to go by for everyone's needs.

The chalet is very spacious, high ceiling and nice wood floors. Although our overall experience was good as the weather cooperated, we believe that the following issues need to be addressed for a better experience.

1. The water in the chalet is not drinkable. There should a pre-warning in the write-up on the website. We found this warning on arrival at the kitchen sink. Since the nearest place to get water is about 30 minutes away, it is a major inconvenience.

2. The lighting in the whole house was inadequate, and worse on a cloudy day. Working in the stove area and the bedrooms was particularly difficult. Bulbs of greater intensity are essential. Also better lighting in the bed rooms for some night time reading would be desirable.

3. One of the bedrooms does not have a door, and hence there is no privacy. It should be fixed. Privacy is also an issue since there is no ceiling in the upper floor bedrooms because of lack of barrier to the travel of sound.

4. There should be a ladder at the dock, without which it requires a fair bit of effort to climb on it after the swim. This is another area requiring an urgent fix.

5. Since the chalet is on the country roads which are difficult to drive on especially at night, and almost half an hour away from any facility, the kitchen should be better equipped with good pots and pans, including baking and roasting pans. The BBQ equipment was in good working order.

6. Our 8 year old grandson missed playing on the swing which is shown in the pictures.

If these issues are adequately addressed this place would provide an excellent vacation experience.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review, I'am sorry that there was some little things that made it a little difficult for you. 1 - the water is drinkable, but I always tell my customers to bring with them some bottles, since the taste of the water is not appreciated by everyone. 2. The lighting was set for a for a relaxing environment. I will make sure some more lights will be installed. 3. That door will be re-installed. It was broken! 4. Kitchen is well equipped, disposable roasting pans are normally are brought by customers and then thrown. hope this will help!
