|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Congratulations, you've found it! The perfect place for your stay in Costa Rica.
Our Casita Limón is a small fully furnished apartment located in a quiet Tico neighborhood, about 1 KM from downtown Atenas. We named it 'Casita Limón' after the delicious Creole Lime and Sweet Lemon trees growing on our property. The casita has an air conditioned bedroom with a queen size bed, and a full size futon in the living room. Linens and towels are provided, and the kitchen is fully furnished. There is a laundry room with washer and dryer, but instead of using the dryer, we encourage you to be environmentally friendly and hang clothes out to dry on clotheslines on sunny days.
The property is fully enclosed with a beautiful lawn, tropical plants & fruit trees. Help yourself to fresh orange juice every morning while in season.

Atenas has daytime temperature ranges from the upper 70°'s to upper 80°'s, with rare days in the low 90°'s. Nighttime temperatures usually stay in the 60°, but have been known to dip into the the 50°'s overnight.
We recommend you pack an umbrella if you will be with us during the Green Season from May to December.
We are a retired couple with many years of experience living in Costa Rica. We can help you plan your itinerary to visit all the 'must see & do' attractions in Costa Rica.
If you are a member of the worldwide geocaching site, you will find Casita Limón the perfect place to log a new cache find and pick up, or drop off, some travel bugs for your fellow geocachers.
While you are our guest, you will have full access to the shared outdoor living space in our 'Rancho.' It has a covered patio with tables & chairs, swing, kitchen, refrigerator, microwave, barbecue grill, stone pizza/bread oven, bathroom, shower, and pool. We think you'll find this the perfect place for entertaining and relaxing after a long day of sightseeing.
Our home is located on the same property, so we are always available when needed. You will find the Casita is perfectly positioned to offer you plenty of privacy during your stay.
Check-in after 10:00 PM is not an option unless prior arrangements have been made. If you have a late flight arrival time, we recommend you make arrangements to stay at one of the convenience hotels near the airport and check-in with us the following day.

While you are enjoying your stay with us please take care of a few of the basics:
1 - Let us know if anything needs attention or needs to be replaced. (i.e. toilet tissue, light bulbs, garbage bags, etc.)
2 - Please wash dirty dishes and wipe up any spills. We are in the tropics and share this paradise with an abundance of wildlife and insects. Ants love dirty dishes and sticky counters!
3 - Treat our home as you would your own.
We treat our dogs, Randy, Gustavo (Goose for short), and Yoli, as members of the family. We usually keep them behind a gate on our side of the property, but if you are an animal lover they will enjoy being petted. Please respect our pets.
I spent most of my 20s here in Costa Rica. I returned to the States to raise a family and build a career, always knowing I would return to Costa Rica someday.
owner/property manager purchased this apartment in 2006
We bought our property in 2006 and built the Casita so we would have a vacation home to visit until we were ready to retire. In 2011, my husband John and I officially retired and moved to Atenas. The first year we lived in our humble casita, while we watched our new home being built. In May of 2012, we moved into 'la casa nueva' and now our casita is available for you to rent.
The property is in a typical Tico (Costa Rican) neighborhood. The mornings brings a cacophony of bird songs and at certain times fo the year, we even hear Howler monkeys playing down near the river below our home. The Casita is located on the opposite end our our property, offering our guests total privacy. There is always some fruit available for picking on the many trees found in our garden. If you are looking for a place for total relaxation, you've found it!
My husband and I spent two weeks with Pat and John. They were gracious hosts and very knowledgeable of the area. We loved spending time in the Rancho and ate our breakfast there every morning, accompanied by bird songs. The casita is inviting and provides everything you need. We washed our clothes and the warm tropical breezes dry your clothes faster than a drier. The self opening private gate, was an added plus. We would definitely stay here again and recommend the Casita Limon to anyone wanting an authentic Costa Rican experience.
We stayed at Casita Limon for two weeks in August and have nothing but glowing reviews. As it has been said previously, Pat and John were wonderful hosts and their knowledge of all-things Costa Rica is immense. The casita was perfect for us and the views were amazing. The location was ideal too as we could walk into town and really get to know Atenas and its people. You can't beat Casita Limon for the price and the graciousness of the hosts!
Great little place to relax. Close enough to San Jose and the coast.
Cute little casita that has everything you need for a longer stay. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thanks so much to Pat and John for your hospitality!
Id like to start by saying we had a wonderful time here. Pat and John were great hosts. They included us in some of the local activities, which really made the stay so much more fun. They were a wealth of information about the area and Costa Rica in general.
The casita is a clean, well maintained place most comfortable for two adults and maybe 2 kids. The living room has a comfortable futon couch then a dining table with 4 chairs. The kitchen has a full fridge, 2 burner hotplate, griddle/casserole cooker, Coffeemaker, and all the plates, silverware, glasses, and containers that you would need.
The bedroom has a queen bed and a walkin storage area for clothes and stuff. The TV is there as well. An analog set with local channels. We brought a Roku with us and it worked well for Netflix movies, but you will need an adaptor for hdmi to R/W/Y cables to use it. They just added a dedicated wireless router for the casita and it does have good speed for streaming, and calls. They have AC in the bedroom and it does work well, but we only used it a couple of times, usually just had the ceiling fans running.
Nice shower in the bathroom. Great pressure and on demand hot water, never had a bad shower. The water is good to drink from the tap and we never had a problem running out of water. They do have a backup water storage tank.
It is a quiet neighborhood at night. Across the road is a local soccer field and in the afternoon, local school kids will come over to play until sundown. Once in awhile they will have a real game to watch.
If you are planning on walking to town, Its about a mile and the roads are narrow and a good climb into town so you will need to be in good shape. The taxis are cheap, for 4 dollars or less you can get most anywhere in town.
The rancho was a great place to hang out and read, listen to music, play games as well as swim in the pool. It is a salt water pool and not heated, but very refreshing on a hot afternoon. They have 3 dogs, Randy, Gus and Yoli. They are usually in their house on in the fenced run, but the do get to come out and play and are extremely friendly.
Safety wise, you are surrounded by wall and fences, so was never worried about that. As far as the area goes, we never had any concern for our safety around Atenas.
If we come back to the area, we would not hesitate to book here again .
The hosts couldn't have been any more welcoming and helpful. I won't mention details of everything they did for us because it wouldn't be fair for others to expect so much. Having a washing machine to use and the use of a phone to make free calls to the US or Canada were definitely bonuses. We had a car with us, so the locked yard we accessed with an electronic gate opener was very much appreciated. The casita provides all the privacy you like, but we spent much of our time under their large "rancho" area.
