Overview

About the property

Privacy and Convenience in a Country Setting, Just Minutes from Everything.

Spacious bedroom, small living room with sloped roof, kitchenette (no stove or oven). Secluded yet just minutes from all that the Savannah area has to offer. Roosters crowing in the morning, free range chickens in the yard, certified organic garden, small cable TV, WiFi.

Come rest in comfort and safety in our home built of salvaged antique cedar and heart pine on five acres of forest, marsh, lawns and gardens.

Our nearest neighbors are a football field away. No streetlights, just hundreds of acres of wilderness and plenty of solitude, nature, and rest, yet only minutes from all that Savannah has to offer.

With coffee in the morning or a cold drink in the evening, sit on one of our many porches and watch the sun come up or the stars come out while you listen to the sounds of the marsh, the barnyard fowl and the forest.

We selected Comcast as our internet provider because it is so much faster than their competition, AT&T. What we got in speed, we gave up in reliability. The service works well MOST, but not all, the time. If you are having trouble with the wifi, please let us know so we can problem solve for you.

Pets are allowed with some restrictions as there are two indoor/outdoor kittens in residence, and a flock of chickens and guineas in the yard. Please check with us about bringing your pet. We ask that you leash them when you leave your rooms. There is a pet fee of $50 per stay, but more for longer stays.

About Rebecca Jane

Bruce and RJ moved to Savannah from a Pacific Island where we were art and culture students. We both enjoy bicycling and snorkeling. Our first four years in Savannah we lived in a condo in the downtown historic district while we studied at the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Now we've bought our dream retirement property but its a fixer upper. To raise funds for needed disability modifications to the property for our resident US Marine Retired Disabled Veteran, we are offering our guest cottage as your private retreat.

Rebecca Jane purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Rebecca Jane chose Savannah

Our five acres are surrounded by undeveloped forests and marsh yet we are just minutes from everything that Coastal Georgia has to offer. Our yard is home to wild life and sheltered by ancient trees. Our nearest neighbor is at least football field away. Our guests tell us that photos do not do justice to the beauty of our property. We are service oriented and want to create the best vacation possible for you. Tell us how we can help.

What makes this cottage unique

Our beds are comfortable. Our cottage is quiet and secure.

Lovely place

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful property and nice rental. Very clean and comfortable bed. I enjoyed that it was 20 minutes from the actual city, because the property offered a nice secluded feel but we were close enough to everything. Owner was a sweet lady with many cool stories and a beautiful voice

What an amazing getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

All I can say is wow! Every question I had was answered within the day & they were very thorough in their answers. It was a nice, small & secluded place only about 10 minutes from downtown Savannah. I did expect to be closer to historical Savannah but it wasn't too bad of a drive. We were welcomed very shortly after we got there & we saw the owner right before we left 5 days later. Which I loved because I am the kind of person that likes to be unbothered when just trying to relax. But the guy was so nice the two times I did see him!! The owner gave his phone number for questions & anything else we needed through the week. At the last minute, i needed something mailed back to me & they were very prominent in getting it to me. They even stayed in contact until I got it back! I would recommend this to anyone but especially as a couples getaway!! Loved it!

Great

  • 4 of 5

It was a great location for us, one thing I would mention is we came in the middle of the night and it was hard to make sure we had been in the right location. Long drive, more lights for guests that are not familiar with the property would have been great the first night.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying with us Jennifer Savery, Thank you for letting people know our property is dark in the middle of the night. We do this because of how important the dark is for the critters that live in our urban wildlife sanctuary. We warn potential guests who are arriving after dark about this. You let us know in advance you would be arriving after midnight, so we left the lights on in the cottage and in the parking lot and at the gate for you. We also gave you detailed instructions about our long dark driveway, the identifying info at the intersection of our driveway and the road, including the cross street, the white mailbox with our house number on it, the unique reflectors on the tree at that intersection. We have pictures at our profile and the name of our property is on the welcome sign in the driveway. Even so, you were not certain you were in the right place and we are sorry that happened to you. How confusing to not know if you are parking and unloading at the right private home. We are a little secret garden in the woods, but we don't want it to be so secret that you can't find us.

Definitely stay here! Gorgeous property, kind accomodating hosts!

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I loved our stay on this gorgeous property. We loved the privacy of having our own cottage, and enjoyed the green space all around us. Rebecca was communicative leading up to our stay, and all was exactly as I expected it would be. We would stay again in the future!
