Spacious bedroom, small living room with sloped roof, kitchenette (no stove or oven). Secluded yet just minutes from all that the Savannah area has to offer. Roosters crowing in the morning, free range chickens in the yard, certified organic garden, small cable TV, WiFi.
Come rest in comfort and safety in our home built of salvaged antique cedar and heart pine on five acres of forest, marsh, lawns and gardens.
Our nearest neighbors are a football field away. No streetlights, just hundreds of acres of wilderness and plenty of solitude, nature, and rest, yet only minutes from all that Savannah has to offer.
With coffee in the morning or a cold drink in the evening, sit on one of our many porches and watch the sun come up or the stars come out while you listen to the sounds of the marsh, the barnyard fowl and the forest.
We selected Comcast as our internet provider because it is so much faster than their competition, AT&T. What we got in speed, we gave up in reliability. The service works well MOST, but not all, the time. If you are having trouble with the wifi, please let us know so we can problem solve for you.
Pets are allowed with some restrictions as there are two indoor/outdoor kittens in residence, and a flock of chickens and guineas in the yard. Please check with us about bringing your pet. We ask that you leash them when you leave your rooms. There is a pet fee of $50 per stay, but more for longer stays.
Bruce and RJ moved to Savannah from a Pacific Island where we were art and culture students. We both enjoy bicycling and snorkeling. Our first four years in Savannah we lived in a condo in the downtown historic district while we studied at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Now we've bought our dream retirement property but its a fixer upper. To raise funds for needed disability modifications to the property for our resident US Marine Retired Disabled Veteran, we are offering our guest cottage as your private retreat.
Rebecca Jane purchased this cottage in 2013
Our five acres are surrounded by undeveloped forests and marsh yet we are just minutes from everything that Coastal Georgia has to offer. Our yard is home to wild life and sheltered by ancient trees. Our nearest neighbor is at least football field away. Our guests tell us that photos do not do justice to the beauty of our property. We are service oriented and want to create the best vacation possible for you. Tell us how we can help.
Our beds are comfortable. Our cottage is quiet and secure.
The cottage is small but was plenty for family snuggling with our two children. Who adored the chickens!
We were very impressed with our stay. RJ was very accommodating to last minute changes in our itinerary and was very willing to help. We were in town for a half marathon, so we didn't spend much time at the cottage. The only negative thing I have to say about our stay is the hot tub wasn't available for our use and we didn't know that until we arrived. Other than that, great stay and look forward to booking again in the future!
I always look for something special when we travel. This cottage was just that. A cute quaint little place that had everything we needed. A small organic farm complete with fresh eggs from the resident chickens. The host and hostess are both welcoming and warm people. I hope we have the opportunity to stay with them again.
We stayed at this guest cottage the weekend of St. Patrick's Day, though we were in Savannah for a wedding rather than the St. Patty's Day celebration. It was myself, my husband, and our two boys (11 and 9). The guest cottage is a clean and cozy little cottage that offered plenty of room for the four of us.
The bedroom is large and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom is full size, and the shower is great. RJ and her husband rearranged the furniture a bit before we arrived, bringing in a sleeper sofa for the boys. The boys found the sofa comfortable during the day, and they found the 'sleeper' comfortable at night.
We enjoyed the picturesque property, complete with hens and roosters. We also enjoyed seeing some deer during our stay.
RJ checked in with us a few times before the trip, and we knew she was available when and if we needed anything during our stay.
The four of us drove off Sunday morning with smiles, having enjoyed our time at the cottage. We will definitely try booking it again, when we are looking for accommodations in Savannah, and we will recommend this jewel to others.
Thank you for sharing your property with us, RJ.
A great experience with wonderful host and hostess. Very well equipped and furnished cottage made our stay in Savannah memorable and pleasant. Loved the friendly chickens, the beautiful grounds and great rental property. We will choose this destination on our next visit to Savannah!
Very nice cottage on scenic property. It was clean, affordable, and very comfortable. I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting the savannah area that does not want to stay right down town.

Drink delicious well water from any tap. We are on a sceptic system, don't flush anything but human waste and toilet paper down the toilets and please,no grease down the sink drains. No smoking. The chickens run free in the yard so watch where you step.
