About Jon Harris
My wife and I settled on the Central Coast of California after a 10 year of military service. We have two adult children and five grandchildren, who we enjoy spending most of our time with. In 2001 we traveled to Oakhurst, California, for the first time and immediately fell in love with the area. The first thing that appealed to us was the friendly people and the relaxing atmosphere this area provided. We are outdoor enthusiast who enjoy camping, hiking, boating, sightseeing, and areas that are unique with culture. We enjoy traveling in the United States and abroad.
Jon Harris purchased this House in 2009
Why Jon Harris chose Oakhurst
The first thing that appealed to us was the friendly people and the relaxing atmosphere this area provided. As we explored the area a little more, we were impressed with how much the local area had to offer. With Bass Lake and Yosemite National Park nearby, we quickly realized this one area had so much to offer for anyone. Whether it is snow skiing, water skiing, boating, hiking, sightseeing, or just the relaxation this beautiful area has to offer, your experience will be sensational. This property is designed to help protect our most valuable resources, and the beauty that California and the Yosemite area have to offer.. Reducing, Reusing & Recycling From recycling to installing high efficiency systems, we’re reducing our impact on the environment by reusing wherever possible. We practice extensive waste reduction and recycling of glass, paper, and cardboard, metal, plastic and ceramic. These efforts have reduced our waste significantly, the majority of which is now recycled. Water Reduction Practices To conserve water, one of California’s greatest natural resources, we have taken several steps to reduce its usage here at The Yosemite Haus; we have installed low-flow toilets and plumbing equipment. We also personally conserve water and encourage guests to do the same by doing such things as turning faucets off when not in immediate use and asking guests to consider using their linens more than once. Smoke Free Environment For the health and comfort of our guests and the health of the environment, Yosemite haus is a smoke-free environment. Compact Florescent Bulbs and fixtures Our change from incandescent to compact florescent bulbs in over 75% of our fixtures has reduced our energy usage significantly.

September in Yosemite
We enjoyed our stay at this home for 4 nights. Beds were comfy. We were greeted with a bottle of red wine and a starter package with paper towels, detergent for dishwasher, dishes and washer. Ziplock bags and foil for wrapping.. About a 1 1/2 hour drive to valley as there is road and tree work being done. House was clean and inviting. Kitchen had all we needed to cook a couple of dinners fix our lunch for our days in the valley. About 6 miles to town. Road to house is winding and steep in places but that gives you the sunset views. Lots of wild turkeys, deer. Very quiet. Thank you for share your home with us!
9/10 to 9/15 getaway!
We had a wonderful time at Jon's home! Centrally located between Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. It was very relaxing to come back to after hiking at the parks. The home was in excellent condition and we enjoyed grilling on the deck in the evening and viewing the stars. To give our legs a break, mid trip we rented a boat and spent the day at Bass Lake which is nearby. We did not use the lower recreation area at the home as the weather was perfect and nature was calling! Overall, the trip was magical!! The Hunt's
Comfy and convenient place
We wanted to spend time in Yosemite and also visit the sequoias and this home was in a perfect location. The sunsets are beautiful! And the night sky so bright. The telescope was a plus. Enjoyed the ping pong and corn hole game too.
Wonderful experience in Yosemite area

It was well organized for the purpose of short term rental. Good job guys.
Home away from home
We spent 3 nights on this property. We made this property our home away from home. It was clean, spacious, fun and got my creative juices flowing to paint! It has a full functioning kitchen, kitchenwares and diningwares were provided. All you have to bring are your groceries to cook delicious meals for the family to enjoy. I had a wonderful time cooking in the kitchen given the it is an open space from the living room. I had enjoyed cooking and watching them taking turns or singing duet on the Magic Mic Karaoke we always bring wherever we go. We mostly had dinner in the balcony, facing west. We enjoyed our sit down family dinner witnessing the sun setting in the west while my husband strums his guitar, I sip my chardonnay as part of the welcome gift when we arrived, my sons and daughters and I were playing uno and performing magic tricks! When the sun finally kissed the ocean, the sky turned into a colorful scene and the trees in the backyard hill changed colors with an unchanged season! We stayed a bit longer, took out the telescope and binoculars, gazed upon the stars and connected the constellation! My daughter got excited whenever a shooting star cross the night sky. It was a night full of stars! The game room dowstairs is a bonus, too! We loved playing ping-pong! The Yosemite part, it is only 1/2 hour drive to southgate of Yosemite, the parking lot to Mariposa Grove is at the entrance. From here, we had options to discover this park through going for a longer hike or taking the bus this park provides for its visitors. We took the YARTS, it costs $10 one way each so that my husband can relax and enjoy the view as well even though we paid for $35 entrance for the vehicle at the northgate to get to Oakhurst. Anyway, YARTS took us along 41 through to Tunnel View and to the visitor center. You then have to take the bus within the park, free of charge. I am saving Jon and Karol's contact for future reservation:)
