My wife and five kids and many of our friends have enjoyed countless weekends playing in the water, hiking, four-wheeling and many other activities. We enjoy eating, shopping and sight-seeing in Oxford when the weather doesn't allow for the other activities.
The Owner purchased this house in 2008
This is a perfect location offering seclusion from the hustle and bustle of the city yet being close enough to make several trips to town in one day if need be.
We love rocking on the back porch with family and friends. We can hike and ride four-wheelers for miles right from our driveway.
The family of my friend rented this property to stay at during her graduation. After the ceremony, they hosted a party to celebrate her achievement. While I was not staying here, I attended the party.
When driving off the highway and down a winding road to this house, you do not expect much. If you've ever spent much time in Mississippi, you'll know that roads are not well-lit at night. Driving in the dark with trees all around us added to the mystery. My family, joining me for the party, were wondering where exactly this road was taking them. I assured them that it is perfectly normal in Mississippi to wonder where you're going.
When we finally reached the property, we found a house on a good size plot of land. It was away from the road a bit and down a hill. My friends greeted us and went inside.
The house is clean and spacious. Even with all the people there, it was easy to walk through and get around. The furniture is comfortable and the design is nice.
There is a firepit in the backyard where many of us, including small children, were able to sit around and roast marshmallows. It was a relaxing experience, looking at the stars and simply enjoying the nature surrounding us.
Many times the home can be a distraction at these events. Whether that be broken appliances, or dirty countertops, or a door that can barely open. Not in this case. Everything I interacted with operated perfectly and did not distract me from the moment.
While I certainly noticed that the property was nice, the important thing is that it never took me out of the special moment we were having. Spending quality time with family and loved ones to celebrate a graduation should be shared without distraction. Never did the location take away from the moment we were sharing. If anything, it only added to it. The quality of the home as well as the beauty both within and surrounding it let me enjoy the time and experience a meaningful event with people I love and cherish. When looking for a place to stay, whether that be for a celebration or an event, the location should never detract from that. This home added to the experience. It served as a meeting place for a meaningful moment. For that, I thoroughly recommend this property to be rented by anyone that wants to experience meaning, value, and joy when visiting Oxford.
I can not say enough good about the cabin we rented for my daughter's Ole Miss graduation! Our family and friends traveled from 3 different states to attend. It was perfect for our family, which aged from 4 years old to 76 years old. The accommodations were comfortable, clean, and we had everything we needed & more! My family are world travelers and can be hard to please at times to be honest and they could not find a thing to complain about or dissatisfying about this home! EVERYONE loved it. The children had plenty of space to play upstairs and outdoors. They were so excited about running and playing outside, blowing bubbles outside, and especially the fire pit to roast marshmallows the night after the graduation dinner. All of the adults said their beds were comfortable, even the bunk beds upstairs. My parents had the master bedroom and were impressed with the large bathroom that is rare to find in a vacation home. We loved the front and back porches for sitting and relaxing, listening to the birds singing, for visiting and eating. It was refreshing to get away from the crowds after graduation and have the graduation dinner at a home. Not having to rely on crowded restaurants for that evening and having a place for the family and friends to visit and enjoy our time together was a stress buster and a relief. We made great memories! Thank you for opening your wonderful home for rental. It really help make the graduation weekend a success.
I stayed here with my family and my brothers family and we hosted a family reunion and it was the perfect location to do so. The house had plenty of sleeping rooms and the kitchen was nice and roomy for cooking. It was beautiful, peaceful and out in the country where the kids could run and play. We loved the porches and rocking chairs on the front and back of the house. My only suggestion would be to add an extra garbage can to put trash in for the next renters just in case its needed but other than that the place was perfect. The owner was really easy to work with and answered any questions I had. I would definately stay here again and would recommend this house to anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and looking for some peace and quiet and it was very close to the lake which was also nice.
Great country atmosphere and good times at this house. We travelled from Texas to watch our Aggies play and experience the hospitality of the Oxford area. The setting of this house and the porch and outdoor seating areas were awesome. Plenty of room, lots of beds and very clean and well appointed.
We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful home for the Ole Miss Homecoming game this October. We traveled with a caravan of family members and we had tons of room and even had extra beds and space. It was only a 15-20 minute drive into Oxford which allowed us to be close enough to enjoy tailgating and The Grove but yet we felt like we were out in the quiet of the country when we went back to the house. We really enjoyed sitting out by the fire pit, which all of the necessities and supplies were ready and available, so we could make some great family memories. The house was very clean, all the amenities that were available were great, and it felt like home while we were there. We were very informed on how to leave the house upon departure and it was nice that everything we could have needed was already thought of. We were ready to book our next visit to Oxford in the house before we even got to the end of the road. Would definitely recommend for a group of family members or a few couples to plan a great relaxing get away and still enjoy some Ole Miss activities!
We had a very nice stay at this rustic, countryside home. We had all ages in the house and found it to be very spacious, comfortable and relaxing. It was roughly a 15-20 minute drive into Oxford which was not bad at all. We enjoyed being away from all of the hustle and bustle of Oxford on game weekends. We expecially liked the back porch and rocking chairs for morning coffee. There is no internet/wifi in the house so make sure you have enough data on your plans for the weekend.
