Needs Attention

Communication was challenging. I followed up with the owner 3 times by email & left 2 voice mail messages asking for the front door code & got no response. I finally had to get the informations from HomeAway customer support. GPS directions were wrong; guests should be warned not to rely on those. We arrived late on a cold, wet night looking forward to using the fireplace. We could not find a way to turn it on, & the owner, when called, didn't know how to start it, so we never got to use it. Despite being instructed to wash, dry & put away dishes, there were no dish towels provided. Linens were old, & stained, bath towels had holes in them. Cleaning was spotty. The oven was dirty. Some standard items were not provided (e.g., Kleenex.). Although advertised as quiet, there were hunters shooting not far away during our entire stay. The space is cute & roomy, & the setting is nice.

My college girlfriends and I meet each year for a weekend together. We usually go to a different place each time. However, we think this will become our permanent retreat center! It is clean, cozy, well equipped, private yet convenient to town....just perfect! You will not be disappointed if you choose this cabin!

Relaxing Fall Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed this cozy cabin and it's vast property. It was very peaceful and we loved walking with our coffee in the morning to the end of the property to watch the mist rising from the mountains in the distance. The deer came out in the evenings to say "hello". Spectacular star gazing through the trees at night with a nice fire. We were glad someone had mentioned bringing an ax to split the provided wood into smaller pieces. The sun drenched porch in the front, complete with rocking chairs, was a favorite place, and with an expandable gate on the end, we were able to keep our dogs safe with us. We could have used instructions on the thermostat in the kitchen that heated the main rooms, because we never did get it to work. Luckily we have a gas fireplace at home so we were familiar with how to run that and it kept us warm at night when the temperatures dropped. The rooms were decorated nicely, although we might suggest a table lamp or two to provide more "atmosphere" at night rather than the bright overhead lights. Other than a couple small things that needed attention (bulbs out in the frig, front door knob tricky), we found the cabin and outdoor area very well maintained. The area has several parks and nice drives to explore. Milton seems like a nice town and traveling east there are many beautiful farms! The owners got back to us quickly as we were making our reservations only days before our stay. You can't go wrong with this property and we would recommend it to those who want to really "get away from it all" Thank you for sharing Spruce Run Hideaway with us!!

Quiet, remote cabin. Would stay again.

Our stay at spruce run was enjoyable. We attended the LLWS in Williamsport, made a trip to Philadelphia, and got a lot of rest and relaxation. The cabin was quiet, off the beaten path, but still close enough to civilization. We would recommend this property to anyone considering traveling to this area.
