A Wonderful Getaway
It was a beautiful location. From the porch, you have a continuous view of the bay and the dramatic tide changes. The unit was very comfortable and well provisioned. It is a great place to kick back and disconnect.
Will I come back again? Definitely. Bard & Dwight are excellent hosts.
Great place to unwind!
Great cottage waterfront very clean and has everything you need
Glad you enjoyed everything and thanks for being such super guests!
Love this property and our hosts!
This was our second stay at 20 Cassidy Lane and we plan to return again. The location is perfect for relaxing and a good base for excursions into Saint John (and beyond), and there's even good cycling right in hte area (we took a ride to Dipper Harbour, as well as on the bike path along the Saint John waterfront this year). And Barbara and Dwight are the perfect hosts!
Thank you for your kind review. You are the "perfect" guests and are welcome anytime. We're glad you enjoyed yourselves and look forward to the next visit!
Lovely, quiet escape
I stayed with my husband and teen son in August 2017. We were impressed with the beauty of the spot, the amenities in the home and the caring touches such as having bread, milk, eggs and butter in the fridge to use on the first morning. The beds were very comfy and with quality bedding. There was ample kitchen and bathroom gadgets and supplies and loads of books, movies, music and games to use. We watched the Fundy tides, bbq'd on the front deck and said hi to some foxes near the property. The one and only drawback which was unique to us was the location, as we were looking to a lot of activities closer to Fundy Park. But it was the perfect spot for exploring Saint John and St. Andrews by the Sea. While we never met Barbara and Dwight they were regularly in touch and making sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommended!
Thanks for being such great guests! We sincerely appreciate your feedback.
The PERFECT Spot to Get Away From It All
From the time we made our reservations we knew we'd found a gem with this Maces Bay retreat. Our hosts, Barbara and Dwight, were absolutely terrific ... couldn't do enough for us and made us feel most welcome and at home but not intrusive. In fact, once we checked in and were shown around, we only heard from them with the occasional text to check that all was going well. The accommodations and amenities were very well thought out ... very clean and comfortable ... with lots of extra touches that made our stay even better. They even left groceries for our first morning breakfast ... eggs, bread, juices, milks, coffee and teas! As for the location ... it was spectacular and so peaceful with ocean and nature all around us. If you need a recharge and a true getaway we highly recommend this place ... and it's only 20 minutes to Saint John where you can explore this historical harbor city or the city's great Maritime market. A 5 star vacation rental all the way!
We're pleased you enjoyed your time at Maces Bay and thank you for the kind comments. We look forward to seeing you again in the not too distant future.
Peaceful location with great view of Maces Bay
The cottage was all that it was advertised to be. Well equipped and clean. Barbara the owner was unable to meet with us but was in contact with us by phone text and left detailed notes for the cottage, location of shopping and tourist sites. We enjoyed the quiet solitude of the cottage and great ocean views, spectacular sunsets and walks on the ocean floor.
We're so glad you had a good visit. Thanks for the positive feedback!
Maces Bay is a scenic fishing village at the mouth of the magnificent Bay of Fundy. 20 minutes west of Saint John and 90 minutes east of the US border, Maces Bay is located on one of the world's most scenic routes ... the Fundy Coastal Drive.
Few places on Earth are as awe-inspiring as New Brunswick’s Bay of Fundy. A visit to this special place will reward you with magnificent tides, breathtaking coastline and endless adventure. Watch for whales breaching off the coast, discover fossil-filled mudflats and play on coastal islands. No matter how you approach this world-recognized natural treasure, the experience will fill you with awe.
Nature simply doesn’t get bigger than the Bay of Fundy. When a hundred billion tons of water pours into the Bay from the Atlantic Ocean, the water level in the Bay rises a staggering four stories. The majestic experiences made possible by this twice-daily phenomenon cannot be missed. The coast along Maces Bay of Fundy is natural and rugged with endless bays, coves, beaches & caves while sightseeing & historical attractions galore are within a 1 hour drive in any direction ...
20 minutes east of Maces Bay awaits the province's harbour city of Saint John. From the charm of the beautiful waterfront Uptown to the tides of the Bay of Fundy, activities in Saint John are wrapped in either a compelling history, or a heart-pumping adventure. And between each intriguing stop is a journey rich in urban architecture, natural splendour, and completely unique maritime culture.
45 minutes west of Maces Bay is the truly unique St. Andrews-by-the-Sea. This wonderful little town boasts a public art gallery, a community college, a national marine research centre, a world class golf course and numerous other amenities often associated with larger centres. St. Andrews represents one of the best preserved examples of colonial heritage in North America. Founded in 1783, the town still retains much of its old world charm. Streets that are safe, businesses that are owner-operated and original architecture are just a few of the things you will notice about St. Andrews. Steeped in history, St. Andrews by-the-Sea offers a wealth of museums, historic sites and marine wonders for you to explore. The active and the adventurous will find excitement here with kayaking, hiking, scuba diving and garden tours while artists flock to St. Andrews to enjoy a wide selection of galleries and studios. Be it seaside golf, whale-watching, or a relaxing stroll around this historic community, St. Andrews offers something for everyone.
While these are just 2 of the better known centres in the area, there are several smaller villages and towns along the Fundy coast well worth exploring .... each with their own special qualities and charm.
