Cristina Pinto purchased this apartment in 2011
Location is crucial when visiting a city like Porto and our flat couldn't be more central than this. Metro and Train stations at 200 meters. One of the most important streets in Porto named "Rua das Flores", near to Ribeira, full of beautiful buildings, street artists and fantastic stores. Clerigos Tower, Lello Bookstore, Bolsa Palace and many other are all at less than 500m. Visit the wine cellars of Porto simply walking across D. Luís Bridge and get the chance to do a Douro Cruise.
Old Bulding but with the inside completely rebuilt Location is perfect.
The apartment is comfortable and in an excellent location on a lively street. Although the street entertainment continues until late closing the apartment windows keeps out excess noise at night. Getting around Porto was very easy with the Metro at the end of the road and the Douro a short walk in the other direction. Although cooking at the apartment wasn't worthwhile due to the need to buy all the basics there are plenty of good eating places. We particularly recommend Casa da Musica for dinner, an easy journey on the Metro, and the buffet lunch at Serralves, the Modern Art museum - a longer journey but worth it.
We arrived the day after the city wide holiday of St John. The street was still in a festive mood late into the night. The location of the apartment was convenient to everything in the city. We walked everywhere. Our host, John and Christina couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The apartment was clean and nicely furnished. It was fun sitting in the window seats watching a constant parade of people walking by.
The downside was the noise. When it was time for bed we closed the widows and shutters. This ended the noise and light but it made the apartment very warm. We found a small fan but it hardly made a difference. The bed was hard and that might have been alright had the pillows not been even harder. Neither of us got a good night sleep during our four night stay. Air conditioning, soft pillows or 2 larger fans that moved would have made a difference. We stilled enjoyed our stay because that's the chance you take when you don't go the hotel route.
we loved our 4 day holiday in Porto. the flat is well situated in the lively part of town in a pedestrian zone. You can reach all the well known sightseeing spots per foot or if you want per metro/tram.
the place is clean and provides all the necessity one needs for a short break for two.
We would come again.
We spent three days in Cristina and John's lovely apartment. It was exactly as it is portrayed in the listing, and is in the best location possible. From there, one can walk throughout Porto and visit all the important sights. Although the apartment is right above a busy street, full of restaurants, street entertainers, and tourists, it is very quiet. The apartment was impeccably clean and contained everything we needed to feel at home during our short stay. Cristina greeted us upon our arrival and gave us a thorough overview of the apartment. She had some excellent suggestions about sights to see, places to eat, and how to best experience Porto. We especially enjoyed our meal at O Caracas and our trip on the yellow tram to Matoshinhos, where we had an amazing, fresh seafood dinner. Our stay in Porto was a highlight of our trip through Portugal, thanks to Cristina's hospitality. We would love to return one day!
My husband and I stayed three nights in the apartment. Cristina was always extremely helpful by email and was there promptly to meet us. She gave lots of helpful suggestions of places to visit or places to eat at. The pictures are accurate. It was very easy to access the apartment from the airport by metro. The location is fantastic , we were easily able to walk everywhere, there was a grocery store in close proximity to the apartment and several cafes and restaurants to access. The apartment was clean and the bed very comfortable which was great after a long flight. The number of cafes does mean a fair bit of street noise well into the night, with music and general noise heard. That being said , we still managed to get a good rest and I am a light sleeper. I would highly recommend the apartment and would gladly come back again. Porto is a wonderful city to visit and the people are extremely friendly and gracious.
We had a great stay at the lovely apartment. The photos are quite accurate. The place clean and well furnished. We were greeted by the owner and she was very helpful in suggesting places to eat and things to do. All this, once you arrive at apartment, are easily within walking distance. Very charming area with lots of things to see and do. Location of flat great, as on walking street and have many street cafes right out window. At night we enjoyed the local music and street musicians right from our flat. Would definitely stay here again.
