First off the pictures are from when they bought the place (02/03/10) or close too it (the palm tree in the front is huge now). Meaning that the current state of the house is not great. The couch is got stuffing coming out of it. There is not any working fold out queen beds (1st floor or 2nd floor), there is a lot of dirt and grim outside of what the cleaning crew can reach (like AC grates & fans) and trash outside in the plants (which are also all overgrow as we scratch the car on some getting in and out of the driveway). There are 4 coffee makers in the pace but only one works. We found cockroaches and spiders in the place. There were lose boards on the steps going down to the beach. The bunk bed bedroom (2nd floor) stays much warmer than any other bedrooms.
The outside shower did not work (they did have a hose). On the good side the location is great and the floor plan is pretty good. Also when I left messages about a few of these items I never got a response back (I've been only able to talk with them if I get them on the phone they never call back on a message). We usually stay at a VRBO one a year and this place was the worst in terms of maintenance.
I hope to repeat a family get-together here. The room arrangements worked great for us and amenities were good. The 'Great Room' is just that - an area for games + puzzle tables + eating + large sectional & chairs for chat time or TV. Definitely used the loft & bunk room.... Super beach access. Main problem was difficult sliding doors to deck, which surely can be rectified. I think this deserves better than a "copper" rating, and I plan to return. Thank you to the owner.
Beautiful location, but easy to drive past if you don't know what to look for.
7 days 7 nights 7 beautiful sunrises and 7 beautiful sunsets. Blue Ocean was a wonderful home for our family. The kitchen was adequate but lacked some basics. The grill was new and worked great. We ran out of propane but it was delivered the next day. The house was clean and there were plenty of linens. We would stay again. The Daytona airport was close enough for our multiple pick ups. We enjoyed Flagler Beach and the good resteraunts. We had issues with the septic system but a plumber arrived the next day. It was inconvenient but we were resourceful.
Overall the facility was found as advertised. Some initial issues with entrance to the property instructions and location of towels and washcloths. The individuals answering the telephones tried to be helpful but usually had to contact other staff personnel to obtain answers, for example towels and washcloths weren't easily located. When I placed a call to inquire about the lack of these items it would have been nice if the individuals contacted could have said were the items were stored. HVAC maintenance crew showed up unannounced. I had an issue concerning the keys/lock code. Even though the individual I spoke with said Vacation Rental Pros had the ability to change the lock code he flatly stated he would not change the code for me during my visit. Suggestion...If you have the ability to change the lock codes why not let your/renters decide their own code once the final payment is received this way your maintenance personnel has time to reset the code before the renter arrives. I'm sure VRPs handles many properties but one plan does not fit all. No issues with the property or the functionality of items therein contained.
An excellent location right on the beach, and very nice open living area opening onto the large deck. It was handy having the upstairs and downstairs kitchen and laundry. The location was quite convenient to shopping and restaurants in Flagler Beach, and if you don't mind walking two miles down the road (sidewalk all the way) you can have a nice breakfast and coffee at Java Joint. The beach isn't as wide and the sand is a bit coarser than you might find elsewhere, but still very nice.
