This single-family home sits in a safe, quiet residential neighborhood on the south side of Boston. The home offers off-street parking and is within easy walking distance of the subway and buses, as well as grocery, bank, post office, pharmacy, pubs and restaurants.
The wood-frame colonial house has a modern kitchen and 2 baths, dining room, living room, large family room, 2 bedrooms (queen bed, two twin beds and a child cot) and an office. Free wireless Internet, flat-screen TV with local stations, washer and dryer.
Lee is an artist, so the home is filled with original monoprints and oils, as well as works by other artists, and decorated creatively.
I was very happy to find this property. It suited our needs perfectly--two bedrooms, one with twin beds for our teens who do not care to share a bed. The house was tastefully decorated and has clearly been well maintained and updated, yet the atmosphere there was casual. We felt right at home, and were glad to be able to spread out and have a kitchen. It was a bit of a hike to the public transit into Boston, but definitely do-able. We also had a rental car for side trips, and the driveway provided off-street parking. The hosts were kind and answered our questions. The information they left was useful (a notated map of the neighborhood, lots of brochures and maps, and info. on things in the house.) We would definitely stay here again, and recommend it to others. We found the neighborhood quiet and we felt safe. From the public service posters in the trolley, the general area has seen some challenges, but they appear to be meeting them with grace. It was a very pleasant visit.
Jack's house is wonderful for couples or a family. It's filled art and unique furniture, a warm feeling. We stayed three nights and traveled into Boston each day via the T. This trip takes a minimum of 45 minutes, but sometimes an hour. The walk to the T station is only a few blocks. Jack leaves plenty of brochures for travelers and responds well to questions. Clean and spacious.
It is a perfect place for a long stay. We had a wonderful time there. The house is beautiful and one feels at home. A bit far away from downtown, but it is not a problem if your priority are not the usual city tourist attractions.
We stayed in this house for a few days at the end of September. It was a great place to come "home" to at the end of our long days of sightseeing. We found the grocery store easily and were able to have simple breakfasts at the house, although we didn't cook much as we enjoyed Pat's pizza a couple of nights. We took the trolley/subway into Boston, which was an adventure in inself and greatly enjoyed by my kids. Overall loved the location and the house was comfy & cozy and just perfect for our visit. Thanks so much for your hospitality!!!
We very much enjoyed staying here for our family vacation in the Boston area. The kitchen was very well equipped, the house and bedrooms were cozy and comfortable, and overall we would definitely be inclined to stay here in the future.
The home is a little way from public transport and/or the downtown Boston area, so it's probably best if you have a car. Thank you, Jack, for your gracious hospitality; it rivaled that of we southerners!
We stayed in this house during the long weekend in October while we visited Boston's colleges. The house was quite big for our family of 4, very cozy and well decorated. The pictures of the house don't truly show the beauty of the house. There is a flat screen in the living room, wi-fi, and an internet radio in the fully equipped kitchen.
There was no phone in the house but we had no problems with Verizon reception. My wife's AT&T phone was spotty.
The owner left a binder with his contact numbers as well as maps with directions to the nearest shops and restaurants. We did not meet the owner in person, but he quickly helped us to address a problem when we called him.
The house is 10 min of walking distance from the T-station, but the trip to the North Boston took us almost an hour.
We truly enjoyed staying in this house and it served a great base for visiting the colleges.
