With an excellent location in the heart of the Salamanca district, this two bedroom apartment is ideal for those seeking to stay in one of the most exclusive areas of Madrid. This area of Madrid is known for its restaurants, designer shops, its exclusive ambience and tourist attractions. The streets of Serrano, Jorge Juan and Ortega y Gasset are particularly attractive if you want to visit the most exclusive boutiques.

Just steps away is the impressive Plaza de Colón, the broad Avenida de la Castellana and the national library. The beautiful Parque del Buen Retiro, (the 'green lung' of Madrid) is within walking distance and offers a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is one of the most central and best communicated districts of Madrid by the network of subway, buses and trains, something that guests willing to explore the city very appreciate.

It's a sunny apartment, elegant and decorated with a classical style and impeccable taste. Located on the second floor, it has a lift to the main door and another lift and entrance through the kitchen used as service access.

The main entrance leads to a large hall decorated with an extensive library and ample closets for coats. From the hall you access the living room, kitchen and bedrooms. The elegant living room features a large exterior window that fills the space with light for most of the day. The living room area is perfect for relaxation after a hectic day in Madrid; with two 3-seater sofas a glass coffee table and satellite TV. The dining room, bright and cheerful as the rest of the living reoom, has seating space for 4-6 persons.

The master bedroom is accessed from the living room and has two single beds together (90cm x 200cm), a mahogany writing desk with beautiful views of Hermosilla and two antique bedside table. The en suite bathroom has a bathtub with shower. This bedroom has a walk-in closet.

The second bedroom has two single beds (90cm x 200cm) fitted wardrobes and full bathroom with access from the living room.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need during your holiday and also has a practical table with chairs and a service entrance to the House.

Those of us that are part of Home at Homes, share a very characteristic quality: we suffer what is known as the 'Stendhal syndrome'. Beautiful things excite us and there is nothing we can do about it! We strive to see, feel and taste the good things of life. Karin Wallis is a cosmopolitan from birth. Swedish mother and English father, born in London and from there has travelled more than half the world round. She speaks English, Spanish, German and Swedish and came to work with tourism through her marketing career. In addition to traveling you will also see her enjoy scuba diving, horse riding, skiing and any sport that involves adventure and to keep fit. She is an amateur photographer (though nobody would guess this by seeing her work!) and she shoots all the photographs you can find on the Home at Homes Website. She is a lover of good food, has an infatuation for perfection and enjoys a cold GT at the end of a long and happy days work.

Nono del Barco has spent half of his life making people feel good. Some people say that his vocation is to be a super-host. He has spent most of his life related to high level tourism from Hospitality to Public Relations. Pioneer in the invigoration of the Seville nightlife, he has opened the doors to the avant-garde and innovative proposals in the gastronomic sector of the city. “Sevillano” down to the marrow, perfectionist, and lover of good life, good food and fine wines, he has an agenda worth its weight in gold: containing the key from the most hidden “tasca” to the most exclusive and private joint, Nono del Barco 'controls' because the city holds him no secrets.

Terrific Apartment in the Best Location!

I have to say that we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at this lovely apartment! It is located in one of the finest neighborhoods in all of Madrid. Beautiful decor, roomy and clean. We had assistance from the owner with airport transfers, someone to meet us and show us around the apartment, a kitchen that had the staples that you would need to start your vacation, fruit, bread, juice, milk, butter, coffee, etc. Very impressive for a rental. When we started exploring the neighborhood, we realized that we had chosen the right rental. Markets, restaurants and shops all just steps away from the front door. Some of the best restaurants are right on calle Hermosilla or only a few blocks away. It's also in walking distance to the old city for you to see all of the beautiful touristy sights this city has to offer. There were 3 of us that stayed here and there was plenty of space for all. Bathrooms are nice and loads of closet space! I would definitely recommend this apartment! Can't wait to return!

A beautiful apartment in the nicest neighborhood in Madrid

You should not hesitate to rent this apartment if you are going to Madrid. I am extremely picky about where I stay and this apartment exceeded my expectations. The neighborhood is very elegant and quiet. The best stores, restaurants and everything in walking distance. The building has a door man which is nice for extra security. The apartment is beautifully decorated which is very rare with apartment rentals I have found. The kitchen was loaded with everything we could have needed i.e. coffee, milk, sugar, bread, fresh fruit, bottled water, snacks, condiments, spices, etc. That type of hospitality is not common with rentals. The living room area was decorated very nicely and made for a very pleasant area for my family (4 of us). She has hung artwork, bookshelves are stacked with hundreds of books, and oriental carpeting throughout.. 2 very nice bedrooms and bathrooms. Tons of closet space with actually more hangers than we could use. I can't say enough good things about this apartment. Please take my word and book this place if you are going to be in Madrid. Although it's not in the center of town, you can walk there easily (about 20 minutes to Prado/Sol etc), and you can find a nice oasis from the hustle and bustle of Madrid.

Nice apartment in a great neighborhood.

The neighborhood was great - many restaurants, bakeries, local groceries. The apartment was nicely decorated and had a nice space: Master bedroom was large with a nice bathroom en-suite. The second bedroom was smaller and its bathroom was also smaller. The kitchen was very nice and we had a nice welcome with stocked basics for us!

Karin was great. Met us at the apartment with an orientation to facilities, neighborhood and info on Madrid. Karin is an important asset.

I would return to this home.

Absolutely amazing!

We stayed in the Espartinas and not in Hermisolla apartment. The apartment was gorgeous and loved it. Perfect for families with small children or toddlers. Karin was amazing- so helpful and prompt. I would highly recommend her properties in Spain.

Peace and quiet

The description of this beautiful apartment was absolutely accurate. After a full day's sightseeing, it was lovely to come back to a less traveled area of Madrid where most of the people were natives. And the added bonus of being able to walk in the neighborhood and have things to see in all the shop windows was perfect. The apartment is convenient to the Metro and it's an easy walk to the Prado. The furnishings were attractive, the bathrooms were excellent and the place came fully equipped with paper goods, milk, fruit, bread, butter, bottled water and an array of spices and seasonings for modest cooking. The lovely manager could not have been more helpful--showing us around, offering tips for dining and recommending a company that picked us up and the airport and drove us back at the end of our stay. Which is more than I can say for HomeAway. I would recommend this apartment to one and all but be warned that HomeAway offers very little support.
