QUIET, sweet, relaxing, country getaway (less than 1 hour from the Kona International Airport) on a 10 acre coffee/fruit farm with panoramic coastline views from Kealakekua Bay to Honaunau. Swim with dolphins in a bay about 10 minutes away or join Highway 11 to travel anywhere around the Island. Immerse yourself in nature in our ocean view Mango Suite 1-2 bedroom apartment.

The Mango Suite is a one-bedroom apartment with a fully-equipped kitchen and bathroom. It features a Queen-size bed and sitting area. Glass slider door opens onto a large, shared lanai (veranda) for dining and leisure. The 12 -14 ft. x 40 ft. lanai is shared with two other private room rentals located in another building.

For an additional $50.00 per night, the Mango Suite becomes a two-bedroom unit by including the adjacent Pineapple Room (a private room that shares one wall the length of the Mango Suite). The Pineapple Room has a King-size bed and its own separate entrances.

We’re located in South Kona between Captain Cook and Honaunau (approximately 50 minutes South from the Kona International Airport) and about a 30-40 minute drive to/from the city center of Kailua-Kona.

The farm is about a 10 minute drive to the National Historical Park of Pu'uhonua ‘O Honaunau (Place of Refuge), one of the best snorkeling spots at Two Step, another great snorkeling spot at Kealakekua Bay/Captain James Cook Monument, swimming at Ho'okena Beach Park, and within walking distance to St Benedict Roman Catholic Church aka "Painted Church", and tour of Paleaku Peace Sanctuary/Botanical Gardens. There are many bays and beaches along this wonderful coastline to swim, dive, snorkel or see turtles, dolphins, tropical fish, coral, etc. During whale season you can enjoy watching Humpback Whales from many of the close local areas as well.

We are a few minutes off Highway 11, the main highway around the island. To the South is the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Mauna Kea, Hilo, Puna, etc. To the North you can travel to Mauna Loa or Mauna Kea, Waimea or the Kohala coastline, Hawi or the spectacular Waipio Valley or other wonderful sites.

All within a 5-15 minute drive from our property—South Kona Fruit Stand, the Sunday Farmers’ Market, Cook Bounty Fruit Stand & Café, Menehune Coffee, ChoiceMart, Ke’ei Café, US Post Office, etc., etc.

Please inquire as to our reasonably priced, daily, weekly, and monthly rates and cleaning fee.

The rental includes: Free parking for one vehicle, free Wi-Fi, fresh fruits and vegetables when available or in season, outdoor shower, shared use of the adjoining lanai, washer and dryer (laundry hours are from 8:00am to 7:00pm and laundry must be completed by 7:00pm). We also provide beach towels and snorkel equipment.

The farm has a total of 5 buildings including the 4 rental units. Our on-site property managers live in one of the buildings and are available to assist with questions, suggestions as well as directions to the local attractions. The owner’s cottage is just above the other buildings on a hill overlooking the farm.

All the buildings are in close quarters, so the emphasis is on "QUIET" and being mindful that sound carries.

"QUIET HOURS" are from 9:00pm to 8:00am for rooms, kitchens, and lanai--No kitchen, lanai, and outside activity after 9:00pm. If you are early risers and use the kitchen before 8:00am, please refrain from clanking dishes or using the blender and coffee grinder.

From 7:00pm to 9:00pm please be as quiet as possible on the shared lanai and enjoy your stay. Please speak softly and refrain from using electronic devices—i.e., laptop computers, talking on cell phone, Skyping, playing music, videos, or movies—anywhere outside or on the lanai (veranda), unless used in your room, with headphones, or off property.

It is imperative to clean up after every meal to avoid attracting pests that thrive in our tropical climate. NO FOOD or BEVERAGES (except water) are allowed in your bedroom.

The farm is a NON-SMOKING property, no recreational drugs and no pets. No business operations on the property except internet telecommuting. You may not sublet any room or have additional guests or visitors without the prior verbal or written approval of our managers.

We welcome guests that respect and appreciate our environment and we hope our rules are clearly understood so there is no misconception of what to expect during your stay with us. We provide two documents (1) Rates and Rental Agreement which requires a signature upon confirmation of reservation or at check-in, and (2) Rental Guidelines including the House Rules (a copy is provided in the suite bedroom).

Aloha Kakou (Hello to all)!

The owner, Marc, fell in love with the Big Island in 1982 and bought this coffee farm in 2009 after living in several locations around the island. He spends about 65% of his time here on this island paradise which he considers "home". The farm offers him and his guests, a peaceful, quiet, farm stay on aina (land) that is deeply rooted in the old Hawaiian traditions and ways of Aloha. He danced hula with Halau 'O KeikiAli'i and grows gourds for making Ipu Heke (gourd implements used by hula dancers). He starts most every day with a great swim at one of the many bays in South Kona.

Pali'uli Farm - Single Rooms

In addition to the Cottage pictured in this listing, Pali'uli Farms has two guest rooms with their own shared bath and kitchen available to travelers on a daily, weekly, or monthly (and might I add, very affordable ($210/wk)) rate. I stayed for 2 weeks in one of these guest rooms. I've been to Hawaii before as a traveling ER nurse and I've stayed in apartments, o'hanas, houses and hotels, but nothing compares with this! This place is not for the tourist looking for white sandy beaches in front of glamorous hotel pools and short walks to souvenir shops or fine dining. Nor is it for tourists hoping to remain anonymous in large crowds while they people watch on a boardwalk by day or in a jumping club by night. I'm wouldn't say this place is for someone seeking to be a "tourist" at all. This place is for travelers, for citizens of the world, for someone who wants to really LIVE aloha. I think you'd have to be dead not to wake up here and immediately feel the pulse of heart of real hawaiian living. From the minute I walked out of my room the land invited me to play. A few steps out my door and I was offered a choice of mango, lilikoi (passion fruit), avocado, or banana. And not by someone trying to convince me how my every need would be attended to, no, by the trees and vines surrounding me. How ripe did I want my banana? The choice was entirely mine as the numerous trees were covered in bananas from green to speckled brown (and about a dozen adorable gold dust day geckos who shared in the bounty but moved quickly out of my way as if not wanting to deny me the riches either). Even the managers (whose names I'm not allowed to put on here) feel like old friends from the moment you meet them. And they are a wealth of knowledge about the area (and so many other countries they've lived in that I can't even remember them all) with tips about where to snorkel reefs, play on a sandy beach, and how to understand the behavior of the local dolphins and turtles so as to keep them happy and healthy. I'm not very high-maintenance but the managers were right on any need I had (and some I didn't...like clean sheets). Still, they really let me have my space and never entered my room...which allowed me privacy in an otherwise communal environment. Everything in my room and the bathroom was like new, from the mattress to the walls, and still it maintained a wonderful rustic, tropical feel. I will recommend this place to friends/family; even hope to bring them here myself.

A place that feels like home

The place is just the way we like it - staying there feels less like being a tourist but has the flavour of living there. Very warm welcome and support with anything we needed during our time. A real family feeling. In the rooms we rented (Plumeria and Jacaranda) we felt like home. We loved the rooms and the bathroom with its open walls protected by mosquito grids. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed.

Since we had wet season, we had a lot of mosquitos which kept us from using the terrace as often as we would have liked, - especiall in the evenings.

You need a car when you stay there. Next beach (TWO STEPS) with great snorkeling opportunities is only 6 minutes by car. Opportunities to see dolphins. Most sightseeing places including the wonderful beaches in the north-west coast can be reached by car in 45 - 150 minutes.

Don´t miss to visit the botanic garden close by - 5 minutes walk and the Painted Church also in walking distance.

Centrally located near the National Historical Park Pu'uhonua O Honaunau National Park (Place of Refuge) and Kealakekua Bay and the Captain James Cook Monument. Great location for swimming, snorkeling, and diving. Get lucky to swim and interact with friendly pods of dolphins as well as other sea life including the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle. During whale season you can spend your days watching the Humpback whales playing in the ocean. Ho'okena Beach Park is approximately a 20min drive away. It has a sandy, good swimming beach as well as restrooms, parking lot, and pavilion for picnicking. Within 2mins drive to St. Benedict Catholic Church aka "Painted Church" and Paleaku Peace Santuary/Botanical Gardens.

When your reservation request is accepted, VRBO will send you a Reservation Payment Request outlining the two tier payment schedule. Then later you will receive an invoice from us for the Advance 50% Deposit which you pay by credit card or bank draft directly to PayPros, our online merchant payment service.
