Dee Ann Langel purchased this cabin in 1994
Homesteaded in 1867, this property is rich in legend and lore. Visit the original homestead and envision the Indians as they passed through on fishing and hunting trips. We are the third owners since 1867. We consider it privilege to be entrusted with it's care. Specifically designed to be enjoyed by the outdoor enthusiast, we make it easy to play in Montana's great outdoors!

It took three days of driving through Zion, Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks to get into nature and up to Montana and three days of driving back through Salt Lake City and Las Vegas to re-enter the hustle bustle of city life here in San Diego, where we live. But it is the three days of staying at Twin Rivers Ranch that is sustaining us with an afterglow of peace and relaxation. The beauty, serenity and wonder of the big skies and broad ranges leaves a lasting effect. The hospitality and welcoming spirit felt by guests and wildlife alike provides a restorative place to return to in our thoughts. Thank you for the delightful stay.
TWIN RIVERS RANCH IS ONE OF THE MOST MAGICAL PLACES YOU WILL EVER VISIT. THE FISHING ON THE GALATIN IS OFF THE CHARTS ESPECIALLY IF YOU LIKE BIG BROWN TROUT.THE MAIN CABIN WORKED GREAT FOR OUR GROUP OF SIX AND IT'S NICELY DECORATED AND KEPT VERY CLEAN. GETTING UP IN THE MORNING AND SEEING AND HEARING THE HORSES RUN ACROSS THE RANCH IS VERY COOL AS WELL. I AM FROM A BIG CITY AND WOULD SAY IF YOU WANT TO GET AWAY FROM EVERTHING AND JUST RELAX THIS IS THE PLACE. I SLEPT 10 HOURS A DAY DURING OUR VISIT. THE OWNERS ARE 2 OF THE MOST FRIENDLY FOLKS YOU WILL EVER MEET AND WILL DO ANYTHING TO HELP YOU ENJOY YOUR EXPERIENCE. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND!
I recently completed a stay at the Twin Rivers Ranch with 5 of my best fishing buddies. It was the 10th time the core group has gone on its annual end of summer fly fishing trip to the Bozeman area in Montana. Although there have been several additions and subtractions to the group over the years, the one constant in the trip has been staying at the Ranch. The accomodations are great, and DeeAnn and Tom always make us feel like we are part of the family.
The house is located a few hundred feet from the Gallatin River, and the views of the river valley and the surrounding mountains are quite spectacular. Being a few steps from the river, there is easy access to fishing it. We always enjoy sitting on the rocking chairs on the porch in the afternoon and evening, while taking in the peaceful serenity of the area. I live in a big city where there is constant motion, noise, and a buzz. The only buzz you will hear at the ranch is that of a honey bee or a dragonfly! There is Wifi at the ranch so you are still connected to the outside world (if you want to be!) and this came in handy as I was able to send/receive pictures and video messages to/from my kids!
I would consider the ranch to be conveniently located: 30-45 minutes from the Bozeman airport, about an hour away from Livingston and the Yellowstone River, less than an hour from the Madison River, about 2 hours from West Yellowstone. The fly fishing in the area is world class with many opportunities to fish from the banks or to do a float trip down a river with a guide. There are also a few really nice dining spots (The Oasis in Manhattan and The Land of Magic Dinner Club just outside of Manhattan) that are really close and have great food. As always, DeeAnn is always a good resource for any questions about things to do in the area!
If you are looking to stay in an area that is full of scenery, wildlife, peace and tranquility and do it in a really nice log cabin style home on the Gallatin River, then this is the place for you!
I can't wait to go back there with my fishing buddies and may bring the kids out there next year now that they are a little bit older (11, 9, and 7)!
Two of us - avid fly fisherman, the best of friends since 12, held our "turning 50" reunion at Twin River Ranch. It was one of the most fantastic times I've ever had.
The lodging is stunning, and a model of sustainable living. "Cabin" doesn't do it justice - it's a log home, with a full-width covered porch that would be hard to leave if the river weren't in sight. However..it was. Yay.
Local fly shops were envious when we told them where we were staying - they said 'you may end up fishing there the whole time', which was nearly true. Big, fat feisty trout sucking in PMDs in the morning and nailing grasshoppers in the evening. My first fish was at least 17", and he made half-a-dozen 3' jumps. I could have gone home after that one fish and I'd still be raving about the place. (But it just kept getting better!). The first morning, I had a fish on while my friend was still tying his line. 8 more within the next hour or so.
It's off the beaten track. Good.
It's not a business formula - it's a real place that these folks have lived on for 22 years. Great!
DeeAnn came down in the evening and brought us a couple of fly patterns to try. She mentioned a spot (i'll never tell) with some lunkers, and an hour later my friend had a grin to match the 18" rainbow in his hands. Real hospitality. It runs on solar, but there's Wifi. If you can't imagine being off the grid...well...stay somewhere else and work on that imagination. Then come here.
My only hesitation in writing this review is the hope that there will be a spot in summers to come when we bring families and guitars and spend a whole week. Bozeman and the surrounding area is fantastic, but I'd reschedule the trip to stay in this special place.
Honestly - one of the best stays of my life. Don't miss it.
