1 Modern Bedroom, 1 Luxurious Bathroom, Sleeps 4
From a child the owner knew that this would be the place he wanted to build his home. This chance came in the early 2000's when he purchased the property and finally completed building in 2012. It was transformed from a a forgotten jungle ruin to a modern day home and guest rental that you now have the chance to enjoy.
Why Owner chose Saint George's

We had an awesome time. Thank you, Mike!
This property was exactly what we were looking for. The apartment is modern, comfortable, and very well set up. It was peaceful and relaxing. It was wonderful having the pool. The views across the bay to St. David's lighthouse are picture-perfect. For us, the location on St. David's Island, away from many of the busier areas on the island, was a plus. There are several great beaches just a few minutes drive away. We rented a Twizy for our stay, and it was great to have the charging station onsite. While the property is on the east end of Bermuda, it is very easy to travel everywhere on the island, and we did. Mike is a great host. He was there when we needed him, but gave us our privacy. He was always very helpful and responsive to emails. His lovely dog, Karma, is supper sweet and was never a problem.
A wonderful long weekend
The house and Mike, our host was fantastic. My wife and I arrived late and Mike arranged for an airport pick up and Mike also had bought some coffee and pastries for our first morning. We walked to the nearby lighthouse and then came back to enjoy our view over the bay. The photos on the website are accurate but the breeze with the view are better than the photos.
The house itself let's you open french doors in front of the bay and get the same view as from sitting out side. The finishes throughout the house are tasteful and nicely installed. The rain shower feel luxurious and the kitchen is equipped with everything you need for cooking a meal and making a nice cup of coffee from the coffeemaker.
We rented a Twizy and Mike has installed two charge outlets so it was super convenient to keep the Twizy charged up.
Mike greated us the first day and when we left my wife left her eye glasses. Mike arranged a convenient way to pick them up just completing a great visit.
We will be back!
Not exactly as advertised, disappointing
Charged $40 for airport pickup (5km away) driver did not turn up so after waiting 15mins in 90deg heat had to take a taxi.
Property is on St David’s (Not St Georges Island), no restaurants/shops etc in the area except a pizza place.
The apartment has a small a/c unit in the kitchen/sitting area but not in the bedroom which was unbearably hot, opening windows just lets bugs in. Owner adamant that unit is airconditioned as advertised and if it was too hot for us we should not come to Bermuda in the summer time.
Washing machine and dryer are not in the apartment, owner advised us there is access somewhere elsewhere on the property, we chose not to use them.
Owners dog is let out in the evenings and early morning and barks outside the apartment, not a big deal for us as unable to sleep because of the heat but would likely bother some renters.
View and pool are great but would not return, all complaints made to the owner were responded to as being the fault of the renter.
When written complaints were sent the first night owner knocked on the door at 11pm wanting to come in and state how he thought complaints were unjustified.
Received a cancellation notice from owner on the 4th day of our occupancy (we were leaving the next day) when asked for clarification was advised that he did not owe us an explanation, have reported this cancellation notice to vrbo.
Dear Potential Guest:
This reply is for you to counter any idea that what is provided is anything other than a high quality, affordable rental in a beautiful location with *multiple* nearby eateries that has graciously hosted hundreds of extremely satisfied guests.
The taxi driver I provide is one of the best in the industry & is very professional. Given the high volume of flights that arrived for some reason the two parties, both at the airport, missed each other. However, instead of calling my cell which he had, this person chose to take another cab.
As an attentive host if a complaint is emailed, rather than sit behind a desktop, I try to respond immediately in person, especially since I stay nearby.
In his complaint, instead of asking about the location of the washer/dryer, the person accuses me of lying about the amenities. The property is marketed as a romantic getaway & we all know that nothing speaks to romance like looking at laundry equipment. Also, to maximize space in the unit itself the washer/dryer is easily accessible on the property in a laundry room.
Yes, I have a dog, which is well mannered & not at all a disturbance to guests. The forewarning about sounds you’d hear would be more useful if he let you know you’d more likely hear the splash of fish feeding in the bay below & the birds chirping in the trees.
While I empathize that the person may have felt hot, his complaints about the heat boil down to a personal issue, especially since the guests before & after him, with identical conditions raised no complaints & occupied the same space. Also one cannot claim that a 40,000 BTU fully operational a/c unit is inadequate for the space. Furthermore, when I spoke with the person’s wife about the complaints raised, she told me she had no knowledge of them (which would have included the claims about bugs), even though I was told by the person she shared all of his issues.
In his own words, the person wrote elsewhere, "Haven't always had the best experiences with VRBO…” Well, when you elect to stay in a person’s home, send them disrespectful, aggressive emails & act the same in person it’s no wonder. My initial suggestion was that in the future this guest should stick with hotels but there’s no reason to subject them to this type of behavior either. 98% of my guests have a wonderful stay. This person is a part of that 2%. I will take the lessons learned from this experience & continue my endeavors to provide a superlative experience for all.
Near Escape is a great place to spend time in Bermuda. We had everything we needed for our trip. Mike was an excellent host and helped us out the 1st night when we couldn’t get a taxi by calling his friend who took us into St. George in his personal vehicle. Coopers island is a 20 minutes walk away it is beautiful there with a few small beaches that you will have mostly to yourself. We rented a twizy to get around the island it was very convenient to have your own transportation and a fun way to get around. The pool was great to jump into after a long day at one of the beautiful beaches in Bermuda. Mike’s place was the perfect way for us to celebrate our 25th anniversary
Nice place, great host
The property is lovely. If you are looking for peace and quiet in a beautiful setting, this is a great spot. Pool is great. Views were awesome. If you're looking more to see the sights, just be sure to book some type of transportation as the place is a bit remote. If you have a scooter or Twizzie, you're less than 10 min from anything you'll need. Overall, great experience. Would book again.
Beautiful property with amazing views of Dollys Harbor
Mike is an excellent host! He was extremely accommodating from having pick up service arranged at airport to helping us with other questions we had. His place is amazing, well kept and cozy. We had a moped service drop off a bike for my wife and me and we explored the island from there. Mike even went to dinner with us one night. His dog Karma is a sweet little doggy and she will hang out with you at the pool if you like. St. Davids is the right location if you want to visit Bermuda the proper way. Its quiet and bucolic while still being close to adventures around the island. I suggest you rent a moped as it will make your travels more adventurous but also cheaper. If you ever need anything Mike is prompt with responding. We plan on coming back soon! Mike we will see you in Charleston next year!
So here's a word on this property's location for travellers not as familiar with the island. The property is geographically located in the eastern part of the island. While this may not appear to be "central" it is actually located minutes away from most of the key attractions visitors to Bermuda come to enjoy, including our famous pink beaches, Crystal Caves, the town of St. George's, fabulous restaurants and everyday conveniences like fully stock grocery stores.
Hamilton is a 25 minute drive away and for $4.5 for a ferry token, even the extreme western end of the island, where you find the Royal Naval Dockyard, can be reached in 45 minutes or less. Many guests have enjoyed the property's amenities and Bermuda by exclusively relying on the bus service. If this is not for you, however, and you plan to rent a scooter or Twizy, please know that the property offers both serenity and accessibility - the best of both worlds.
