I grew up in this house and am the 5th generation to own the property. The house holds wonderful memories of my Mother's growing up years here as well as my growing up years in this same house! Thus, the name of Days to Remember at Granny's! The house does hold wonderful, warm memories and you will immediately feel the calming and relaxing effects upon entering ... days of peace and quiet and summer relaxation. It is a happy house.
I live nearby in Salem, VA,and often spend weekends or a week at a time at the Galax house with my husband and our grandchildren!
This property has been passed down through the generations and I am fifth generation to own it. I love the peace and calm and the renewing of wonderful memories of love and family in this house. It feels of a bygone time ... however, the name of 'Days to Remember' is reminiscent of wonderful past memories as well as for you to make memories and 'Days to Remember' while here.
Big front porch on which to relax and watch the world go by! Gorgeous view across the meadows from the porch. Beautiful lawn and picnic space under the old chestnut trees. Relaxing sun porch on which to nap or read!
This home earns 5 stars because it is a wonderful home place out of history. A well kept older home that reflects a time past but not forgotten. From the minute you walk in you feel at home. This was the first time i tried this type of lodging and has changed the way i will book my travel arrangements.
Hope it is available for my next visit. No hotel/motel can come close. Loved every minute of our stay.
This property was exactly as advertised.
It was a family home at one point in time, and was converted to accommodate rentals. This home looks like your Granny's house, including all of the memories that come along with it.
We had nine people in our party, including several teenaged girls. The home was extremely clean, functional, well-kept, cozy & comfortable, and met all of our needs. We will be staying here again the next time we are in Galax.
It is a beautiful property, located very close to shopping & restaurants.
The only reason I did not give it five stars is because Granny's house is in need of a little updating.
This home was very relaxing and felt like we stepped back in time to visiting grand mom. Everything was clean and roomy, and comfortable. We only slept there at night because we were off during the day, so it met our needs perfectly
A family reunion of sorts. We stayed during the Fiddlers Convention. If you've never been, you should go! My family was originally from the area and I went with a group of my siblings and their spouses. My uncle and aunt also accompanied us. My uncle, at 88 years old provided a guided tour of the area with lots of fond memories of his childhood in Galax. The house was just what we wanted. Plenty of room to visit and reminisce with the family. The house is clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed. You definitely feel a part of Galax and the community. Would definitely recommend this home to anyone visiting for the Fiddlers or just a nice get away in the mountains.
We enjoyed our stay at Day's To Remember At Granny's.
The rooms are spacious and cozy. The farmhouse has many nice amenities, beautiful quilts and throws, pretty pictures on the walls, pretty dishes, and lovely vintage furnishings. Plus some nice current amenities, like the Keurig coffee maker and dishwasher. The home is peaceful and quiet with awesome views of the surrounding farms that have horses and cows.
The location is a short drive to many excellent cafe's and restaurants. We liked Scoot's, Mountain Surf Seafood, Creekside Cafe, The Dutch Oven in Hillsville, Miller's in Woodlawn, Aunt Bea's, and the curbside wait service of the Tastee Freeze just up the road. Horton's Grocery is a very short drive away, too.
Rebecca was so very helpful and answered all my questions quickly and did everything she could to try and make our stay very comfortable.

Everything was just super.we were riding motorcycles on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The house is only 4 miles to the exit to parkway. Just a great view of mountains and close to town. We would not mind coming back again. Super nice owners will do anything to help you with your vist.
100+ year old farmhouse located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Grayson County, Va. Great value for a long weekend or a longer getaway. Large front porch for relaxing. Spacious yard with picnic table and gas grill located in back yard area under the old chestnut trees.
The Fall of the year is a wonderful time to visit the Grayson County area ... the changing leaves are magnificent; the Blue Ridge Parkway is at its most beautiful, the biking trails are more scenic. Sit on the front porch and see the beautiful changing leaves from there, too!
Minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Blue Ridge Music Center; Galax and the Rex Theater, the Chestnut Creek Arts Center, and the antique and consignment shops on Main Street; new River and the New River Trail; Mt. Airy, NC, and Andy Griffith's Mayberry; the multiple wineries of VA and NC; Virginia Tech is only an hour away; beautiful golf courses are nearby in VA and in NC; and the Barter Theater and historic Abingdon, VA, are easy driving distance, too!
The music of the mountains is available at the Fiddler's Convention, the Rex Theater, the Blue Ridge Music Center and all along the Crooked Road Trail. The historic Lincoln Theater in Marion, VA, which hosts the Song of the Mountain on PBS every Saturday night, is within an easy drive, too. You fill find the bluegrass and old time mountain music in multiple venues during the warm months!
Greensboro and Winston Salem, NC, and Roanoke, VA, are within easy driving distance if you seek the larger city entertainment or activities. However, we think you will enjoy the rural life and all of the wonderful things offered by the location of this house!
