Our oceanfront condo is located in Keauhou, five miles south of downtown Kailua on the magnificent Ali'i Drive. The Keauhou-Kona Surf and Racquet Club is a beautiful condominium complex situated on 16 acres of impeccably landscaped grounds, and boasts a large pool, three professional tennis courts, covered pavilions, a volleyball court, and outdoor barbecue areas.
We are within walking distance of a shopping center with a good grocery store, restaurants and movie theaters. We are also a 10-minute walk from Kahalu'u State Beach, the best snorkel beach on the Big Island. Two beautiful golf courses, at the Kona Country Club, are literally in our back yard. We are a two-and-a-half hour drive from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
Our condo contains three bedrooms, two baths, a fully equipped kitchen, and a lanai to die for. Facing due west, the lanai is the perfect place to view breath-taking sunsets. A table for six makes outdoor dining a pleasure.
We are on the third floor of a three-floor building (no elevator), with soaring cathedral ceilings that give the unit a light-filled airy feeling.
The master bedroom contains a king-sized bed and is right off the lanai, so you can fall asleep to the sounds of the waves lapping at the rocks only 30 feet away. The second bedroom contains a queen-sized bed and faces the golf course. The third bedroom is a loft space that is furnished with two twin beds, a separate closet, and a peaceful reading nook.
There are two recently refurbished bathrooms downstairs, both equipped with showers. The unit includes a fully stocked kitchen, plenty of linens and towels, a washer and dryer, beach chairs and mats, boogie boards and other beach toys, a nice stereo, cable TV, high-speed wireless internet, VCR and DVD player. We've also provided a small library and a complete assortment of games and puzzles.
This beautiful condo is our second home, and we think you'll see the loving attention we have given it. We're sure you'll enjoy sharing our island paradise. No pets or smoking please.
The condo is in a nice area of Kona, is right on the water and near to some great stores and restaurants. It is very nicely furnished and has all the amenities for a perfect Hawaiian vacation. The highlight of the whole experience is the lanai. It stretches along the entire width of the condo, and looks out to that gorgeous blue water - perfect for napping, reading and playing cards! I highly recommend staying at the Absolutely Oceanfront Condo!
It was perfect.
We were expecting a nice condo ocean front but what we didn't expect was how well stock it was : tupperware, ziplock, diswasher soap, laundry detergent, spices, flashlight, cooler, beach chairs, etc. everything you can think of is there. These small details really made our stay easier and kept us home at night for nice dinners on the lanai.
If you plan on staying in KONA this is probably the best location: near the main road but far enough from the street so you don't hear anything. The resort is 2 minutes from a grocery and pharmacy, a farmer's market on Saturday morning, 15 minutes to Costco and Walmart, 10 minutes to Kona village, etc
Returning to Big Island we would not hesitate to return and recommend it to everyone with only one consideration: there is no A/C. During our stay it was really, really warm and humid close to 100F so A/C would have been an added value. We were sleeping with all the doors open and the ceiling fans. For us it was OK but it might not be suitable for everyone. We've asked questions around to understand if it was August weather and got all sorts of answers so still don't know if it was the normal weather or not.
As for Big Island we stayed two full weeks and still have many things to explore and discover. Beside the Volcano, the snorkeling, and the beautiful beaches we went Stargazing at Mauna Kea and this is an experience we will never forget. Read Big Island revealed and enjoy!
We stayed at the condo for a week in June. The condo is absolutely wonderful. All the conveniences of home can be found here, the owners have thought of everything from beach supplies to kitchen essentials. Very quiet condo complex that is well cared for.
We certainly would not hesitate to recommend this property to our friends and family and hope to return someday soon!
Beautiful sunsets! With comfortable furniture on the lanai and a direct ocean front view, there was no need to be anywhere else but here each night to witness the most spectacular sunsets!
The condo had a well stocked kitchen for anyone who enjoys cooking. It was also well supplied with everything we needed right down to the detail for beach fun, including towels, snorkel gear, boogie boards, beach chairs, mats coolers, etc. Great location! Minutes away from the best snorkel beach on the west side, shopping and dining on Ali'i drive and an awesome grocery store, KTA up the road!
The condo's layout is spacious enough and great for two small kids and three to four adults.
Our kiddos loved their own space up in the loft area, complete with games and their own TV/DVD player for down times and movie watching. Loved the wide open windows to view the ocean from one bedroom and the mountains and golf course from the other bedroom. We would fall asleep to the sound of the ocean waves and wake up to the sound of tropical birds singing. True paradise.
Having a washer/dryer was an added bonus after full days at the beach! There is also a community BBQ walking distance from the condo as well, great for searing up Ahi Tuna and fresh local steaks!
The pool was beautiful and despite the rules of no Marco Polo or floating devices, the kiddos had fun with their mask and snorkels. The banyan trees, colorful, sweet smelling tropical flowers and trail along the lava rocks made the grounds a beautiful place to walk and explore.
Many wonderful memories were made! We recommend this condo and would definitely return!
First and foremost, WOW & Excellent. That is the feeling you get as you enter and look straight out to the ocean and it does not leave you. Superb view and sounds right out the lenai (dolphins!). Well worth staying here for the ocean view and comfortable for 6. For a VRBO to be clean is one thing, but maintained and super clean is a welcome treat & we would not hesitate to return. Very well equiped, snorkle gear, beach towels, chairs, boogie boards, even a cooler. We left some snorkle gear too. Great Kitchen! Great South Kona location, not too close to the busy, but Keauhou is a great spot on the island for all directions. A very short drive or walk to snorkling (3.5*) (too bad it has been damaged by over crowding-still good fish viewing) Owner and Mgmt were good to work with. Don't Miss: Two-step snorkling (5*), Manta Rey dive or snorkle with Big Island Divers (5*). Easy day drive to Volcanos and Black Sand. Don't miss the North too, the valleys are spectacular, Hike Pololu(5*) We did not use the pool, the ocean is right there, perhaps not the greatest pool for kids, but this is Hawaii - go to the beach. We always like Quinn's for best value dinner - Ono Fish-n-chips(5*). Costco a must for gas, 100% Kona coffee, supplies and the Ono Poke is great. Wish we could have stayed longer.
The Condo was very nice, well stocked with the necessary items. Overall it was a fabulous choice, the beds were very comfortable. The pictures don't lie - the water is right out the window. If you're a light sleeper or not used to listening to the ocean the waves might keep you up - what a problem to have, easily resolved by closing down some of the doors. My only complaint is not with the condo itself but the condo association that has a "family pool" that doesn't allow kids to play with any toys, floatation devices or even and I quote "no marco polo". There is an adult pool separate from this pool - I never even looked for it. Just maybe not the best choice for young kids that love being kids in a pool. It does take about 10-15 minutes to drive into Kona itself. The beach is not far at all.
You must do the Manta snorkel/dive - was just as awesome snorkeling as diving.
Highly recommend BIEA zipline - better for older adults and not as technical as the other one in Kohala - but do one of them.
If you opt to do the helicopter tour - go with Paradise out of Hilo (everyone gets a window seat with them and choose the "no" door option. Just make sure the weather is decent other wise its a waste of time. Snorkeling at Kaaula Beach is better than anywhere else. Close second is Place of Refuge and Cooks monument.
Overall wonderful place and I'd highly recommend it.
