Built back in the late 1800's this home has been restored to a 'Luxury Camp'. The evening views from the deck are breathtaking. Eat Lobsters while you watch the evening sunset. Walk 50 feet to fish in this pristine body of water. The water skiing is second to none. Visit the Lake Store to get supplies by boat or canoe around the lake and see the Loons and Bald Eagles. The house is surrounded by 15 acres of private property. The quite is deafening! Bring your boat and jet skis. A public ramp is just a couple miles down the lake. And the floating dock and boat house are at you disposal as is the large gas grill on the front porch. This property is pet friendly.
Keywords: Lakefront home in secluded area. Near mountains and Oxford Plains Speedway and the new Oxford Plains Casino. Quiet, relaxing.
We are Maryland Restaurateurs and we need a place to relax once in a while. We also run a Charter business on the Chesapeake Bay.
Mark or Vali Galasso purchased this estate in 1970
We have never visited such a relaxing place. The water is crystal clear and we all grew up skiing and fishing off our dock. The fourth generation is getting ready to call this place home. The tranquility is second to none.
We purchased another large lot surrounding this property. It is so relaxing just a few days seem to melt away any problems. The cool crystal clear water is a nice change from our place in Maryland. We just can't seem to get in it enough. Every other day is Lobster feast for us. Nothing like cracking a few on the balcony overlooking the Lake. A cup of coffee or tea on the floating dock in the morning catching the first rays of sunlight can't be beat.
Our family has been enjoying the rustic charm of this lakeside camp for a few years now and we will
keep coming back. It's everything a Maine retreat should be- clean and comfortable with the best view on the lake!
While this home has beautiful views and is very secluded it lacked comfort. The outside furniture cushions were old smelly and full of holes much less they really didn't fit the old furniture size. There was one love seat in the den which was obviously the newest addition that was comfortable, however the so called lounger next to it was horrible. We expected a small older kitchen which was fine however all the space except one small cabinet was crammed full of the owners junk. The place definitely needs to be cleaned of all the junk, including tons of old silk flower arrangement, 100 old books, un identifiable cans and bottles of food etc. Also the beds in one of the upstairs bedroom and both downstairs bedrooms need replacing they were horrible. When we rented a boat at the marina one day and they asked where we were staying and we gave the name they laughed and said oh yeah the house full of all the junk! And it sure was, would not rent here again unless a full redo furniture and cleaning happened.but Lake norway is beautiful.
Nicely secluded. On the waterfront. Lovely floating docks. Great lake for kayaking and fishing. Highly recommend for a relaxing week of water and fun.
Our family stay on Norway Lake was as we expected for a lakeside camp. The house was furnished with old, tired furniture both indoors and out, but both were useable. The house was clean. Views of sunrise on the lake and the numerous loon sightings helped make up for the lack of comfort. Cooking items were well stocked, but storage was minimal for a week's groceries. (We wanted as much lake time as possible so running to the store daily wasn't in the plans). Bedrooms in the basement held a musty, dank smell which was only minimally helped by the dehumidifier. We would suggest some sort of air filter.
A pontoon boat rental from near by marina was a plus. It fit across the top of the T dock. Home provided kayak and canoe and some swim toys which we augmented successfully.
As we were from near by we didn't explore much. Lake time was our goal and we were not disappointed. Pictures supplied by owner are accurate. We would return especially if cushions for furniture were improved or replaced.
The cottage sits only a few yards from the shores of Norway Lake, a one by 6 mile freshwater paradise. The Lake sits in a valley and offers incredible water skiing and wakeboarding. The house has a floating dock as well as a boathouse for your use. Oxford Plains Speedway and a brand new casino are just minutes away. An hour ride by car and you can be at the beach or historic Mount Washington, the second tallest mountain in the East.
