Located along the stunning and rugged West Coast of New Zealand's South Island, Drifting Sands is the perfect beachfront bach with that cozy home away from home feel.
The main house has three bedrooms and two bathrooms with open plan kitchen, lounge and dining. This sleeps nine people.
A fourth room, our Beach Hut is situated in the garden leading directly to the beach and can sleep a further five people.
The 1930's house has a roaring Pioneer fireplace in the lounge with Marley wireless hi-fi and board games to keep family and friends entertained. The kitchen is fully equipped with all you need to cook up a tasty meal or two.
If you wander through the back garden, you will find yourself on the beach, which is ideal for fishing, paddling, or just enjoying a stroll taking in the wild ocean, the view and the expanse of beach as far as the eye can see. We are so fortunate to enjoy such gorgeous sunsets with a bonfire while the sun goes down. Don't forget to keep your eye out for some jade stone along the way!
The property is not designed for pets and not fully fenced however upon request we may accept well behaved quiet pets.
Extras: Cleaning (Required, NZ$50.00 per stay); Linen (included);
Perfect location for Lake Kaniere, Hokitika Gorge, Lake Mahniapua and gateway to the Glaciers
Great location. Beautiful wild waves at times and lots of driftwood on the beach. Easy walk along the beach (or road) to town and grocery stores. Lovely landscaping with picnic table in yard and private very short walk to the beach. Each of the 3 bedrooms had its own combination lock. Open kitchen. Toaster did not work properly. Unique and somewhat quirky lodging that we all enjoyed.
Hokitika is a fabulous place to visit with family and friends, beautiful people and beautiful part of the country.
Awesome family/ group accommodation, warm and welcoming. Beach access just a walk through the back and shops literally just walking distance.
