About Susan and Tim Bradley

Our daughter and son in law moved to Barnard last year when they purchased the newly re-opened Barnard General Store. We were visiting every month and knew that we would love to own a vacation home here so that we could visit for extended periods of time.

Susan and Tim Bradley purchased this house in 2013

Why Susan and Tim Bradley chose Barnard

We fell in love with the peacefulness of Barnard and the lifestyle it offers,so we began searching for the perfect home, We knew that we had found it as soon as we entered this one!

We loved the fact that part of this home was an old barn and still has the original floors and fireplace in the dining room. Upstairs you will notice some barnwood walls and windows.

What makes this house unique

Large open floor plan throughout. Huge floor to ceiling windows in family room.

Swimming pond

First floor wheelchair accessibility

Wonderful place for our family reunion

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 13 including mom, dad, 4 kids and 5 grandkids had a lovely week long stay at this lovely home in a lovely part of rural Vermont. The bike riders enjoyed great rides across gorgeous country side and the young parents and their kids enjoyed swimming and hunting salamanders in the pond. We all enjoyed the swimming and kayaking and beach at Silver Lake.

The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed for making wonderful family dinners and enjoying games and just general good family times. Thanks to the owners for setting up their home as a wonderful vacation spot.

Wonderful Home!

  • 5 of 5

We visited here in October for a friend's wedding. This home is beautiful and very clean! We were there just as the leaves were changing colors and everything was so beautiful. There is a great backyard where we had a couple bonfires. We had 12 adults and 1 child and there was PLENTY of space. The living room/kitchen area is huge and we had a great long weekend! The home is in the perfect area and the little corner store down the street is perfect. Tim and Susan had great communication before and during our stay. This was my first time booking a private rental and everything turned out great! We definitely recommend this home!

Absolutely beautiful property - Perfect vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5

Our family just had the pleasure of staying at Serenita, and honestly cannot say enough about this property! We needed a large home for three generations of our family to attend our son's graduation from Vermont Law School. This home was perfect - it was very close to the Law School (20 minutes ), had a wonderful kitchen for entertaining, space for all of our family to stay (six bedrooms, three bathrooms), and a beautiful location. The views from every window were lovely, and twice we all rushed out of the house to take photos of the spectacular sunsets. The home is spacious, and very comfortable. Brand new furnishings - plenty of space to relax with two "living rooms" , a screened porch, a great big deck, and a huge back yard with a pond. The suite downstairs was a great spot for the kids since it has a foosball table, and they enjoyed the other games provided. The beds were extremely comfortable, and each room was nicely decorated. We loved the Moose Theme! So many thoughtful touches throughout this house. The kitchen was a dream, especially for our favorite cooks! We were able to prepare meals as well as all the appetizers and food for our graduation party and the island seating surrounding the kitchen, plus the dining area, porch and deck all provided plenty of space for graduation party-goers to mingle, eat, and enjoy each others' company. The grill on the deck was perfect to cook the barbecued ribs and hot dogs and hamburgers. This home was immaculate, and the photos on this site provide an accurate depiction of the home - but honestly this home is even more amazing when you see it in person. When we opened the front door and walked inside, every one of us had the same reaction - "wow"! This home is convenient to the towns of Barnard and to Bethel and Woodstock and there were plenty of options regarding grocery stores, restaurants, and other stores. It's not far from the highway, and the ride to the house is a beautiful ride. Right "up the road a piece" to Silver Lake State Park, Barnard Country Store, and the Barnard Inn & Tavern. The owners were wonderful to work with, and we would recommend this to everyone. As a matter of fact, we are hoping to return for a vacation!

Beyond every expectation of Vermont

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough about this beautiful home; I say "home" because it is so much more than a house! Tim and Sue Bradley have obviously put their heart and souls into this property from all of the quaint knick-knacks and gorgeous photography to the beautiful decor and the MOOSE! The picture windows set up a beautiful looking glass for watching the wildlife while enjoying a cup of something warm and cuddling fireside under a cozy blanket. I could only imagine watching the wildflowers bloom out by the private pond in the summer! I have never had such a cozy cabin feeling from such a huge property but each room is intimate and inviting and the wood burning stove, the wood floors and gorgeous beams add to that warm feel. The apartment downstairs with the huge fireplace adds to the romantic getaway feeling. Every amenity is thought of and provided and if you are in need of a delicious meal or a bottle of wine, the Barnard General Store right down the road can provide you with whatever you want. Such a hometown feel, having the locals chat by the stove in the store while you watch your breakfast being made to order! My weekend was everything your imagination conjures up when thinking of a Vermont getaway. If you are a couple or a large group, this home will welcome you like it's your own. I cannot wait to return....

Fabulous relaxing and peaceful weekend get-a-way

  • 5 of 5

We rented this home for a weekend get-a-way with our family. This place is absolutely gorgeous. The pictures online do not do it justice. The house was plenty big to accommodate large families. It was beautifully decorated and incredibly clean. It is only a mile or so from Silver Lake, and 25 minutes to Woodstock, so the location is excellent. You hardly have to leave the home. The backyard is absolutely amazing. The swimming pond is clean and kids can swim there, and the kayak and zip line provided hours of fun for our family. The deck is large enough to seat many people eating outside. The small beach was perfect to lounge at and watch the kids! I would recommend this home to anyone- Susan, the owner, was fabulous to work with and provided many extra amenities at the house as well as quick responses to any questions I had. We will be back next year!

Absolutely Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

Before I even get started, let me just say that it hasn't even been a month since my boyfriend and I stayed at this house and we're already planning our next trip! Everything about this house was just incredible and from the moment we walked in, we felt right at home. The house itself is massive and would be a perfect place to bring a large family on vacation!

There are two beautiful bedrooms on the first floor, a lovely bathroom, access to a handicap elevator, a spacious separate dining room with lots of seating, a large kitchen with all the amenities and a living room with a huge (and comfy) sectional couch. In the dining area there is a gorgeous wood burning fire place that, along with the exposed wood beams in the ceiling, gorgeous hard wood floors and rustic decor, really gives this space the country feel that you would expect from a house in this location.

On the second floor there is another beautiful bedroom, a nook that houses the washing machine and dryer and the master retreat. In the master bedroom, there is an incredible overlook down to the living room area, and there is also a picturesque view of the amazing (and private) property behind the house. Not to mention that the on-suite master bathroom has a great jacuzzi tub which would be perfect to soak in after a long day of snowmobiling, skiing at a near-by resort…or just because.

Aside from all of this, there are plenty of windows scattered across the entire home, so plenty of natural light makes its way in in the morning. All of these windows really showcase the incredible and breath-taking views from virtually every direction. Honestly, the views from this house are what really made mine and my boyfriends’ trip so incredibly memorable (I was lucky enough to see an owl land on the back porch in the middle of the day…how often does THAT happen?).

And perhaps the best amenity of all is access to your own private lake right in the back yard! It was frozen over when I was there, but it was still a very pretty sight! I can’t wait to go back in the warmer weather so I can really take full advantage of the lake and the rest of this gorgeous property!

Don’t miss out on renting this house! Seriously- if you’re looking for a quiet and quaint country get-away, this is the vacation house for you. This town was the best of both worlds, it gave us the quiet vacation that we were looking for but still had shopping and restaurants only a few minutes away.
