About Kelly Gilbert & Linwood Gilbert
Kelly Gilbert and her father Linwood Gilbert, both of St. Petersburg, Florida, own and rent out this family vacation house. Our family has been vacationing in the Florida panhandle since the 1970s and we love the area. Linwood built this house with his mother in the mid 1980s and we've recently updated the property. We love the area and are happy to share this wonderful home with such lovely guests.
Kelly Gilbert & Linwood Gilbert purchased this House in 1985
Why Kelly Gilbert & Linwood Gilbert chose Carrabelle
Our family fell in love with Florida's Forgotten Coast in the 1970s. We started with a small place on Carrabelle Beach, but unfortunately the property burned down and the beach has all but disappeared. In fact it is hard to even find that property anymore since the hurricanes wash the roadway out, leaving very little behind. Next was a cute cottage in the same area, tucked into a wooded lot off of Highway 98. The family was ready to build a house and decided Lanark Village was the perfect spot. Close to the grocery store but still feels out of the city. Plus the easy access of being right on Highway 98 and the beach right behind the house made it a perfect fit.
What makes this House unique

Amazing view, great value
The water was perfect for our one year old. We saw lots of wildlife and made a trip to Apalachicola for seafood and shopping. Be sure to bring bug spray, and be prepared to be eaten anyway. My son and I were fine, but the biting flies were relentless in swarming my fiancee anytime he was outside. The house was very comfortable with plenty of extras. It was a great time.
We enjoyed the house. It was all that it was advertised to be. Definitely away from the town and busy beaches. We spent some time at Carabelle Beach and drove to St George Island and Appalachacola. We saw a shark (very small), dolphins, rays, crabs and caught fish right in front of the house.
We were looking for somewhere quiet with lack of the touristy vibe.(waterparks, massive hotels, etc) This was perfect! Nice little small town with plenty of sea creatures everywhere! Just the getaway we needed.
Enjoyed weekend but wish weeds were cut and poison ivy wasn’t there
So nice and peaceful
It was a beautiful place and Sunrises were great. It had everything you need. They had chairs and towels as well
We enjoyed kayaking on the beach. The only thing I recommended is big spray and was told Skin So Soft works great. Plenty of room!
