Its location is fantastic. We love the fact that it's so close to one of the best parks in London.Regent's Park is fantastic! During summer they have excellent open air theatre and opera. The annual Taste food festival is foodie heaven. We provide a large picnic basket for those wishing eat and relax in the park.
Pluses: clean, well furnished and equipped, quiet at night, ample space, well arranged, and a good location with three Underground stations, shops & supermarket, and pubs (a good one nextdoor) within easy walking distance.
Minuses: nothing worth mention
The description of the flat in the vrbo listing is spot on. The owner met us upon arrival, as arranged, and very efficiently showed us around and got us oriented. We had no problems to take to him during our stay.
I recommend this flat highly--it is more than ample for a couple, though three or four might find it confining.
We loves the flat so much. It was close to everthing. Lots of room with a nice kitchen with all the essentials like coffee, tea sugar and so on. The food in the pub next door was so good we ate there most of the nights. We will for sure try and stay there next time we go again.
Nous reviendrons très certainement...and God save the Queen !!!
We had zero problems with this booking. Everything went exactly as expected. We were contacted about a week before to confirm our flight and were able to check in early as well. Apartment is in a nice location, close to Regent's Park (which is gorgeous!) an minutes from the Tube station.
In the apartment everything was as described. We were four travelers (2 teenagers). The bed and sofa could sleep 2 each, even if a bit tight (at least by american standards). The bathroom was not very comfortable. Very weird location of the cabinet just over the sink which made it all but impossible to use the sink for brushing teeth or anything except washing hands. The shower space was also very-very small, especially for the big guy like myself. But these were quite minor issues that didn't spoil our vacation.
We loved the flat and the area - especially being close to the Regents Park and a bit away from the crazy tourist scene. Everything was easily accessible by public transport and we enjoyed our walks through the park and neighborhood. The flat was well maintained, very clean and comfy. Communication by hosts was excellent. We only wish we could have stayed longer. Next time!...
As advertised. Family of 4 fit well in this flat. Good location, we actually walked to attractions (big ben ect.) both days. Best part was our arrival host, Helen. She made us feel so welcome and answered a variety of questions without hesitation.
The flat is situated in an area surrounded by elements of English History and our culture. There are several outstanding pubs nearby and plenty of lovely little boutique shops. It's interesting to note that Marylebone High St has a fantastic policy of letting to independent shops/so one can find unique gifts to take back home. For those looking for the larger shops one can walk to Selfridges on nearby Oxford St or take a short tube journey to Harrod's Oxford St also has several of the larger chain shops with 2 of the biggest branches of Primark being located there.
For those travelling with children we would suggest an outing to the London Zoo which opened in 1826.One can even bring a picnic to the Zoo and just enjoy all the beautiful animals.Discounted entry tickets are often available online.another great attraction is Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. They also have two new rides, one with a horror theme and the other one is an excellent 'Spirit of London'.It's best to go in the morning as the museum gets very busy later on.Nearby Baker S is home to the Sherlock Holmes Museum where one can find cute little trinkets to take back home. There's also the Beatles Shop on Baker St which is a must for any fans of the Fab Four.
Fancy a pint? James and I were finding ourselves being asked that question so many times from our guests that we're now on a mission to recommend the best ones in the West End. The Red Lion,The Sherlock Holmes,The Ship and Shovell,Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese are tops of the list so far. We have printed out a list of pubs and placed them in out guidebook. If we missed a good one, please let us know and we'll pay it a visit and put it in the guide. We welcome suggestions. It doesn't matter how long you live in London there's always something new to discover.
Hop on or Hop off Bus Tours have a stop right near the flat. This is a great way to see some of the main London sights. The bus tour offers good value for money.
London is a great place to shop for gifts. All of the major museums have wonderful gift shops with a range of unique treats on offer. The elegant , Regency-period Burlington Arcade is worth a visit during your stay. This is about a 7 minute walk from the flat/on the way to the Royal Academy. If you wish to bring back some scented delights ,trip to Penhaligon's in Covent Garden is the place to go. They still sell the same flower based scents that sold over a century ago.Miller Harris is also worth a visit.
After a morning strolling around the West End a special treat of a full English Afternnoon Tea will sure to become a special memory of your time in London. Yes, it can be somewhat expensive but it should be something that should be tried if you have the time and budget. The Ritz is by far the best in London. The Savoy, The Dorchester,Browns, and Clariddge's are all expensive but worth it.The National Portrait Gallery,The Wallace Collection and the Langham are more affordable and equally as good. Fortnum and Mason on nearby Picacadilly is also worth it. Their food hall is amazing/and even if you don't have time for the full Afternoon Tea you could buy some tea to take back with you. The tin cans ar simply stunning in design.A great gift for those back home. You will find that a few of the hotels near the British Museum also offer Afternoon Tea/but the ones listed above are far better. One exception is Bea's of Bloomsbury which is well worth a visit.
Escape the pressure of everyday life as you loosen up within one of London’s finest spas, Spa illuminata. It has been said to give out one of the best massages that you could possibly imagine. Apart from that, it does not give an all female vibe, as it has been a place for the secret male spa-goer. One of the best treatments that it offers is the Decleor Harmonie facial, with scalp, hand and head massage. Spa Illuminata is located in Mayfair. This is about 10 minutes from the flat..
Berkeley Spa would surely help you unwind from the stress of the city as it lets you unwind with certain therapies such as facials and calming massages. Clients swear the results such as soft and rejuvenated skin afterwards a treatment. The Berkeley Spa is located near Hyde Park.15 min from the flat.
If you're coming to London with some of your closest girlfriends then a vist to the women's only Sanctuary in nearby Covent Garden is a great day to spend a full day or early evening. This is a 15 minute walk from the flat.
I work part time at an Arts Library(5 minutes from the flat/drop in say hi.I work Mondays and Fridays.James spends most of his time at our music shop in Camden Town. We've owned it since 1996. We're on Parkway...so if decide to pop up to the world famous Camden Market drop by and visit us.
