Timme and Kurt Gunderlock reside in Palos Verdes Estates in California and have worked together for over 30 years in the construction and design field.
Timme Gunderlock purchased this house in 2008
We inherited the property from my Mother and Father who retired here in 1989 from Palm Desert. They loved their life here and could not think of a better place to spend their last years. Our children have so many fond memories on this island and with their grandparents. Now we have the opportunity to do the same with our grandchildren
The hot ponds and the surf are some of our favorite spots. Of course, going to see the volcano is a must everytime we visit. Also downtown Pahoa and Hilo are so much fun to visit and just walk around.
Our family had a wonderful holiday season in this home. It provided lots of space for the teenagers as well as the grandparents. We liked the idea of being away from all the tourist areas so this place suit us well. The tide pools were wonderful and we saw turtles, eels and fish. The trip to Hilo on Sat. AM is worth it to visit the market. We cooked in so do not have any restaurant recommendations. Now if you could control the rain.....
This is truly sunny Kapoho. Excellent value for this vacation hotspot. Great access to hot ponds, tidal pools. Would give 5 stars but for some kitchen pots and appliances that were in poor shape, and lack of parasol on pool deck. The pool deck gets extremely hot and made getting in and out of the pool painful for the children. We rigged something and it worked, but shade on this deck it is a necessity in order to enjoy the pool.
The owner and caretaker were both extremely approachable and helpful. This is a great location to vacation, and very sunny for the Hilo-side of the island. We would love to go back!
First time to the Puna district on the Big Island. It was wonderful. The home met all our family needs. Friendly neighbors. The nearby tide pools are some of the most amazing snorkeling I have ever encountered. We would definitely return to this home.
We had an excellent stay. The house was comfortable and as advertised. Audrey was very helpful and welcoming. The pool was clean and our kids loved it. The kitchen and bathrooms was well stocked.
We would definitely come back to this house when we return the big island.
This house was simpel but just right for our family of 6.
On a quit street with ocean view , nice neighbors and a wonderful caretaker named Audrey.
Thank you Audrey for all the tips you shared and making us feel at home .
Nothing beats falling asleep with the sound of the waves crashing and the frogs singing for ya.
This area is beautiful, lush and full of intersting sideroads.
One morning we were surprised by a Monk seal snoozing on the lava beach next to the Champagne ponds, these ponds have some cool fish and nice warm water.
The Vulcano park is about one hour,Punaluu black sand beach 1 1/2 hour and Hilo 30-40 minutes..
This is old Hawaii, frienly locals, local folklore, and dont forget the farmersmarkets.
Two thumbs up!!
The house was beautiful and the pool was soo refreshing.
Loved the area, we will be returning next year. Our children had an adventure everyday, with the open air markets, the volcano and the golf for us . It could not have been a more enjoyable time for the whole family.
