About Melissa Myers

Gerry, an etched glass artist, and Melissa, an interior designer, purchased this 'building no one wanted' and our relationship to this historic property has been a longstanding love affair. We enjoy sharing it with others and have met a lot of fun and interesting people doing just that.

Melissa Myers purchased this apartment in 1996

Why Melissa Myers chose Central City/Garden District

Gerry had his Architectural Etched Glass business in this building for over twenty years.

What makes this apartment unique

Our location is like the old French Quarter with similar architecture, hidden courtyards, and very creative people living and working here. It has a village feel that we love.

We Absolutely Love the Apartment on Magazine

  • 5 of 5

We love coming to visit New Orleans because of the apartment on Magazine. After a day exploring the city, we come home to graciously appointed rooms, filled with light from the floor to ceiling windows, listen to music and enjoy a glass a wine of the balcony - watching as the city comes to life at night. This is our third trip to New Orleans and we hope to go back soon. Truly one of our favorite spots!

Spacious, well equipped, great location!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time to rent via VRBO and we were pleasantly surprised! My first impression was how spacious this apartment was-large rooms with very high ceilings and the balcony overlooking Magazine Street was large as well. The kitchen was very well equipped, down to a full spice rack. The location was awesome - we walked to several restaurants, the best being Square Root just 2 blocks away. I highly recommend visiting that establishment! The only information we wish was in the Casabianca handbook would be a heads up on the parking. We never had trouble finding a space, but we got a parking ticket for "not parking at least 20 ft. from an intersection." There were no signs indicating this law, so that would have been helpful. Otherwise, we would highly recommend Casabianca and plan to return in the future! Thanks Melissa and Gerry! Great job!

Lovely, charming and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely, well appointed and comfortable apartment with a fantastic location overlooking Magazine St. for exploring the local areas of the Garden District and beyond and away from the chaos of Bourbon St., yet conveniently close to all of the tourist areas as well. The hosts were lovely and accommodating, and the décor completely done perfectly to fit with the surroundings. The access to the apartment is rather old along an interior hallway, adding to the charm and true to New Orleans feel of the late 1800's era apartment. Highly recommend!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write your review of Casabianca....we loved having you here. That old staircase you reference is often photographed and has kept us fit over the years, too. If your travels bring you back this way, we'd love to have you with us again.

Perfect place for first time visit to New Orleans!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in this charming 2nd story apartment was enjoyable. Beautiful spacious rooms perfectly decorated, situated, and secure. Melissa and Gerry could not have been more helpful, welcoming or kind. It was a pleasure to sit on the balcony and watch the daily life of the city unfold. Down a block one day we were able to watch a crew film a new FedEx ad in front of one of the cute shops in this area because the place is located on the quaint historical Magazine Street. We could walk and see all of the sights, or use the cable car when our legs needed a rest. Well stocked with more than necessary for our brief trip. Wishing to stay longer and already planning to return next fall with friends. Thank you for sharing your place with us!

What a marvelous welcoming place

  • 5 of 5

This place is gorgeous and within walking distance to one of the main routes for the Mardi Gras Parades. As a party of 8, we were able to work around each other's schedules when getting ready for our day out on the town. Just a half block walk to the nearest bus can lead us to the French Quarter or in walking distance to many different restaurants and shopping. Our hosts were also checking in on us to ensure we didn't have any questions. I really felt like this was a second home to me. If you are looking to see New Orleans but be far enough away from the hustle and bustle of a town that won't sleep- this is the place. Give yourself a treat and go here.
