Located in South Kona, 23 miles south from Kona airport.
Very private setting with beautiful view of Kealakekua Bay, Honaunau Beach Park and coastline view.
Cottage is surrounded with tropical trees, palms, blooming flowers and coffee trees.
We built this cottage few years ago with lots of recycling materials, carefully sorted and crafted . We used old red wood water tank boards for trims, recycled windows and doors.
We chose oriental decor, using light colors on walls , dark woods and Japanese collectibles (kimonos, dishes, bowls and plates, tea cups e.t.c.)
Cottage has 1 bedroom with 2 windows, sealing fan and a closet.
Bathroom has a porcelain tile soaking tub and shower .
Full kitchen , large fridge/freezer. All cooking ware and utencils.
Hidebed sofa in the living room, TV/Direct TV/DVD player.
Private parking lot with motion light for late arrival.
Favorite of all our guests is a Tiki Bar with hammock and 'magic rope lights' in the evening.
You can relax there drinking morning coffee from our farm or evening cocktail after hot day at the beach!
Best snorkel , kayaking, swimming beaches right down below.
It would take 15 minutes the most and you are in the water!
We have boogie boards, umbrella, towels, beach chairs and cooler for your convenience.
Local shops offering large variety of fresh produce, fish and everything you need for your meals.
Seasonal fruits such as papayas, bananas, pineapples, avocados and mangos can be picked on the farm.
If you choose to eat out, there are many different restaurants in close proximetries . Italian, Hawaiian, Pizzeria, organic bakery and lots of other tasty food places.
Farmers Market on Fridays and Sundays 2 miles from us. Many local vendors bring their produce, fruits, greens, macadamia nuts and crafts.
We, the owners are here to help and make your vacation pleasant and smooth.
You can always call and we answer your questions.

Mike and Vika Hansen moved here 13 years ago with a dream of having a little Kona coffee and Cacao orchards and some vacation homes.
finally the dream has become reality, we are growing coffee, cacao, fruits and veggies, raising chickens, planting landscaping, working hard...
Viktoriya purchased this cottage in 1999
We loved the climate, the privacy and the area. Fresh produce year around, beautiful climate to grow food!
The best snorkel and diving.
Local crafts and arts.
Enjoy drinking our own Estate grown Kona coffee, hiking around our orchard property, centrally located near the volcano park or the beaches on the west side, our property provides you with a safe central location to see the Big Island!
Mike and Vika couldn't have been better. Coffee, fruit, and eggs were a special plus to our stay along with the tour of their place. The patio with the hammock , and wonderful view wonderful. So peaceful and quiet was just what we wanted. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful place. We will be back.
This cottage has everything needed, including an incredible view from the many vantage points! Great faciliities and helpful, respectful hosts on the grounds. Lots of birds, flowers, crops of he farm. Plenty of great beaches and sites to visit nearby.
Viktoriya's and Mike's place is located on the right or lower side of Napoopoo Road. When we initially looked for the property we were looking for a sign at eye level, but their retreat sign is at road level (so look lower!). Entering Napoopoo from the highway travel 1.1 miles. You might look for sunglasses but these are hard to see. The sign is easier to see. Enter the driveway carefully and take an immediate left down the concrete drive. Mike spent a year pouring this 7th Wonder of the World and it takes you down a long winding drive through a lush forest-garden. The priceless aspect of the stay is quietude mixed with the chirps of geckos and the warbles of multiples birds. There are some strange early mornings calls - I suspected a type of owl but still don't know! The geckos live both in and out of their Honeymoon cottage. Shy and harmless, they keep the insect population at bay. If you are lucky some of the papaya and other fruit will be ripe!
Our Internet connection was reasonable; I suspected several people were on the same system at common browsing times, but otherwise it worked fine. The one-bedroom cabin is stylishly decorated in a Japanese theme - robes, pottery, bed, and other pieces. Viki took a lot of personal care to make the cabin special. The bed was comfortable and the mattress firm.
We liked to eat at Sun Fried Specialties located in the town of Kealakekua or we visited Grindz Cafe in Kona. The Coffee Shack is fine, more pricey, and they serve a great breakfast and give you coffee refills.
A great beach to spend a day is Ho'okeena or snorkel at the Two-Step spot.
Given the price, the location, the serenity, and the hospitality from Viki's entire family, this place certainly warrants the five-stars most visitors award it. While we are off to other corners of the world, this is a great stopover for a relaxing vacation. Enjoy!
We loved our stay at the "Honeymoon Cottage"!!
Mike welcomed us when we arrived, even though we arrived very late (late flight arrival & got a little lost) - we very much appreciated him checking in on us! We also very much appreciated the fresh fruit, eggs & coffee from the farm. Both Mike & Vika were very helpful with suggestions on where to snorkel, beaches, & local markets. We loved being away from the crowds & resorts but still close to activities near Captain Cook and close enough to Kailua. Very quiet & peaceful setting, we slept great and enjoyed our mornings eating breakfast out at the Tiki Bar. Would not hesitate to return or recommend to others!
We spent our last three nights at Mike and Vika's place. We loved the quiet of the morning, just listening to the sounds of the birds. Mike met us when we got there. They had left us some of their wonderful coffee and fruit from their trees and eggs from their chickens. Thank you for that, the coffee was the best I had tried while on the island. We will definitely stay there again when we return to the big island.
Glenn and I really enjoyed just talking with you guys.... thank you for everything.
Glenn and Jeanmarie Chartier
Vika and Mike go the extra mile, every single time. This is my favourite place to stay, in one of the most beautiful places on our planet.
Cottage is located in midst of a working Kona Coffee Farm and also grows chocolate. See the steps of the process, see the coffee and the chocolate growing on the trees!
