Trinity Trails Ranch is 24 acres of forested land located in the heart of Texas. The ranch is nestled between the towns of Whitney and Hillsboro on Lake Aquilla just 45 minutes south of the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex. There is about a mile of dirt roads on the property to explore and view the natural beauty of the woods and observe the wildlife. It's peaceful, quite, secluded, and the stars at night light up the sky.
The custom cabin design is an open plan and includes an outdoor porch and spacious balcony that overlook the forest with glimpses of the lake. The property is adjacent to the corps of engineers and allows for easy access to the water.
The home is designed as a getaway from the business of life. The lower level contains a spacious great room and a bedroom that comfortably sleeps 3 with the full size bed and upper twin bunk. The lower level bathroom has a walk in shower for easy access. With views of the adjacent forest from every window and the gracious porch. This cabin encourages enjoyment of the outdoors.
The second level has two large bedrooms, the first bedroom has a queen bed and a reading nook with views of the forest. The second bedroom has a full bed. Both rooms have doors leading to the outside balcony. The bathroom upstairs is designed to accommodate multiple users with its 'Jack and Jill' layout allowing separate and private use of the tub, lavatory, and loo.
The balcony faces west towards Lake Aquilla allowing spectacular views of the setting sun and of the adjacent rolling hills.
The site contains a fire pit with outdoor furniture as well plenty of opportunities for enjoying nature and native wildlife. This property is ideal for family and friends to retreat and spend time together in the beauty and quietness of the Texas hill country.
There are opportunities to explore the property or the adjacent lake. The lake has opportunities for boating, fishing, and for hiking.
I has been a life long dream to have a location south of the Dallas / Fort Worth area where the family can get away from the business and hurried lives we live. When a family member wisely asked us to be part of purchasing the 24 acres now called Trinity Trails we were started on our adventure to build this family retreat. Just like we have enjoyed the time spent in this beautiful part of Texas we invite you to come and spend time in this beautiful retreat. Enjoy the sunrise and sunset, the sound of birds, and the twinkling of the stars which are definitely brighter in Texas.
That is why we have built the Lakeview Cabin. We hope that like we have been able to build great family memories so too you and your family can enjoy Trinity Trails and this cabin. A place of quiet and peace. A place where you can enjoy the outdoors and build great memories.
Catherine Gonzalez purchased this cabin in 2014
This property is located close to the Dallas / Fort Worth metroplex and is convenient to Hillsboro. Waco and Austin are also a short drive away. The land is surrounded in forests and Aquilla is a short hike from the cabin.
The home is designed to encourage people to enjoy the outdoors. The cabin has views of the surrounding forest. A large porch with spacious seating for outdoor dining. There is a balcony on the second level that overlooks the forest and toward Aquilla. The master bedroom contains a cozy reading area with plenty of natural light. The kitchen is part of the great room so all family members can participate in activities without being left out. Bathrooms are spacious. There is a gracious fire pit to enjoy on chilly nights. Lake Aquiilla is known for having angling opportunities for largemouth bass, catfish, crappie, white bass, and sunfish.
This property was more than I anticipated, beautifully maintained and very well appointed, comfy and cozy, plenty of private spaces
to spread out and unwind and just relax . For us we could not be more grateful for the privilege of the use of this "Oasis", our trip was made as soon as we walked through the door, and the stargazing is something that should be missed weather permitting on the upstairs deck. And of course a great big thank you to the owners, again we could not be more grateful..
We had our entire family for the full week and enjoyed every minute of it. The house was perfect for a getaway. The area is nice and peaceful and was very relaxing. Catherine was always In touch for any questions we had and was extremely pleasant and accommodating. Thank you and we look forward to visiting again.
My family and I just got back from staying at the Lakeview Cabin. We loved our stay there. It was basic, simple, and relaxing. It was a bit of a jolt to see that there were no curtains on any of the windows, so when you stay there keep in mind that you'll need to be comfortable with all or most of your party, but you do tend to forget about that when seeing what's around you. There are a ton of trees and wildlife that go through there - we saw bunnies, deer, birds and a very funny squirrel who spent most of her time in the bird feeder.
Sleeping in wasn't really an issue either - it gets light of course without the curtains but the angle of the rooms and the tree coverage, we didn't have an issue at all.
There were a couple of things that we wished had been in better order but we still had a great time. My son got to go fishing for the first time and caught 2 fish - you can't buy memories like that or keep little issues in the way of having a good time. Go exploring on the several trails outside your door - lay in the hammock by the back porch - have your kiddos swing on the swingset or play on the teeter-totter. You won't regret it.
If you are looking for a place to relax and watch nature unfold before your eyes, this house is the place. We saw deer first thing in the mornings and got a glimpse of cardinals, blue jays and humming birds. Fully stocked with the necessary items and amenities needed to make a stay seamless. It felt so homey, it almost felt as if I gone to the grocery store and came home to put up the groceries. Properly maintained and kept clean with plenty of toiletries and towels. Plenty of space to place your items, and games to play. We really liked the beautful balcony and patio equipped with a swing and tables to spend time with the family. The best part were the large view windows throughout the entire house, such a great view from anywhere in the house. The owners were extremely helpful and ready to assist, if needed. The lake was a little further than anticipated but within walking distance.
We actually stayed July 2014, not sure why we never wrote a review because this place was fantastic! I was just reminiscing about our time at the lake and wishing we could go back. One day. Anyway, we stayed for a week in July 2014 for my husband's birthday and loved it. The house comfortably fit 6 adults and 1 child with our dog settled on the porch. A friend in Dallas came to visit us with her daughter for a night and we easily made accommodations for them without sacrificing anyone's comfort. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook all of our meals including my husband's birthday cookie cake and brownies. We brought 2 kayaks with us and the 2 provided by the ranch allowed 4 of us to explore the lake together at one time. Our kayaks are heavy so I remember it being a bit of a pain loading them on the truck, parking as close as we could to the lake access trail and dragging them down and back up, but it was definitely worth it. Even though there were other families staying at the other houses on the property, we always felt secluded like we had the lake and trails all to ourselves. We spent our evenings before bed stargazing on the balcony of the master bedroom when the clouds cleared enough for us to see and it was so beautiful though I admit a bit scary that it was so dark (we are used to the city light pollution). The country roads outside of the property were great to run on with beautiful scenery and I even got some hill repeats in. We did a long run and decided to run aound the lake thinking it was 13 miles but I believe the total ended up being just over 15. It was one of my favorite long runs because we got to see pastures, lake views, farm land, and animal sightings we don't get here. Except for the neighbor's dog who followed us for some time, yapping at our heels. It had even come around to bother our dog but it wasnt vicious, just annoying. Again, another thing we are not used to in the city. Not sure if the dog is still there. We also went on an excursion to Lake Whitney and though that lake was nice to play in as well, there is no need because Aquilla lake was just as nice. I would go back in a heartbeat
When you're winding your way out of the city of Dallas & the concrete jungle starts to fade, you can't help but feel a certain sense of primal relief. My wife & I were in desperate need of fresh air & fence-less freedom almost as much as our two elderly hounds. If your dogs are bigger than the average rooster, it's tough to find a place like that without having to charter a private jet or drive until you can no longer feel your legs. Luckily, we found this beautiful little blip on the map...
A peaceful fifteen minute drive from downtown Hillsboro, the property is nestled perfectly off the beaten path. There are a couple other bungalows on the ranch but they're situated in a way that allows each one to enjoy their own pristine privacy. As soon as we arrived, we knew we had found something truly special. The home sits in a well-groomed clearing surrounded by a lush green forest that begs to be explored. So when we popped the hatch for our canine companions, that's exactly what they did. We were able to quickly & conveniently unload our belongings which allowed us enough time to pour a couple drinks and go sit outside on the second story patio to enjoy the crisp breeze & one of the sweetest sunsets we'd ever seen.
Everything inside the home was extremely well kept, neatly decorated & easily accessible. The open polished concrete floor plan in the main living area made for great conversation, cooking & easy clean-up, especially when we came back from our daily hikes with the dogs along the manicured trails that lead down to the nearby lake.
All of the appliances, furnishings & cookware were well organized & highly functional. The downstairs bathroom had a great shower with high ceilings and a built-in heated fan. The upstairs master suite & bathroom had all the creature comforts one could possibly desire. My wife & I both agreed that we would happily retire permanently in such a cozy escape. There was simply never a dull moment nor an urge to leave. We will certainly be coming back just as soon as our city slicker lifestyles allow.
Thank you for the blissful accommodations & exceptional communication from start to finish, Catherine.
