Keywords: This charming stone cottage with thatched cedar roof is located directly across the street from Lake Michigan, and is just 3 short blocks from down town. Walk to the public beach, with lighthouse, and watch the boats go by. Watch the drawbridge go up, while the sun rises and sets across beautiful Lake Michigan.

Susan Boyd purchased this cottage in 2006
My family has been coming to Charlevoix the Beautiful since the early 1900's. Purchasing Abide was a dream come true. I am happy that I can share my dream with you.
I love the peace of this little village, nesteled between Lake Charlevoix and Lake Michigan. I love to ride my bike to the lake and go swimming early in the morning when no one else is around. Most evenings, my family and I watch the sunset together, while swimming, flying kites, playing football, building sand castles, or just simply abiding.
We LOVED our stay at Abide. This is a perfect location, winter or summer. We felt like we were staying at Snow White's cottage! Lake Michigan is right across the street, it's a short walk to downtown, the floors are heated (!!!!) and the fireplace is amazing. I can't believe that such an experience was available to us, this home is featured in the book 'Mushroom Houses of Charlevoix!'
The photos don't exactly do the home justice. If you like older homes, brimming with character and charm, do not pass up the opportunity to stay at this amazing historical gem.
Should you visit Charlevoix, do not miss the opportunity to eat breakfast/lunch at SOW (smoke on the water) It's a very short walk from the home and absolutely fantastic!
One cannot visit this quaint, beautiful artisan-built cottage in its elevated location on top of the hill above the beach without marveling at the detail of the inimitable construction of the walls and fireplace from the split sandstone. The furnishings were very appropriate to make our stay comfortable, very clean and at the end of our visit we had really experienced "Charlevoix the Beautiful" at its best. There was a steady stream of picture taking tourists going by all of the daylight hours. Our block, composed of Earl Young homes is a prime destination for people who want a lasting impression of the city of Charlevoix. A stay here should be on everyone's bucket list. Superb!
We spent two wonderful weeks at Abide and enjoyed every minute. We cooked dinner at the cottage almost every night - so easy to get around town either walking or on bicycles. Did lots of beaching, fishing, kayaking, paddleboarding, swimming, hiking, biking, berry picking.... and being in Charlevoix during Venetian week meant there was always something going on in town. The weather was beautiful, and staying at Abide was magical. I hope we get an opportunity to do it again!
My wife and I stayed at Abide to celebrate the last 10 years of marriage and couldn't have picked a better place. This cottage has history, charm, and is perfect for a couple that wants to enjoy time away.
Charlevoix is an amazing location! We fell in love with this town and all it has to offer. We loved everything about our stay and the people in Charlevoix. The cottage is in a great location, close to Lake Michigan, downtown, and can walk everywhere.
A week in Abide - the very definition of cozy and comfortable. The house is small, but provides perfectly adequate space and amenities for one or two adults. Loved the gas stove, "drawer"-style fridge/freezer and farmhouse sink in the kitchen. We enjoyed wonderful sleeps in the soft queen bed as summer breezes wafted in. The location is perfect - only a couple of minutes walk into the quaint downtown and just around the corner from the beach and spectacular sunsets. Charlevoix itself has so much to offer to visitors, and it's very close to other places of interest: Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Traverse City, Leland and area. Excellent places for food: we enjoyed the Bridge Street Tap Room's beer tasting, excellent fish from John Cross, an exquisite wine dinner at Chateau Chantal (Mission Peninsula) and a great breakfast at Smoke on the Water. Golfers will relish the challenge at Belvedere and particularly at Dunmaglas. One caution: you will see many tourists ("fudgies") who are understandably interested in the house, so be sure to keep the front door locked. One bold couple actually tried the door and would have walked right in! A small price to pay though for the privilege of spending time at Abide. Thank you, Susan!
We absolutely loved it! It's a charming and very cozy cottage near Lake Michigan. The history behind the Earl Young homes is quite interesting as well. Looking forward to staying again next year during softball tournaments.
Enjoy a Sunday service by the lake, cool off in the musical fountian by the harbor, or visit the fish pond in East Park. Walk downtown and shop for fresh fruits and vegtables at the Farmer's Market, and browse the arts and craft shows. Your children will love our local summer camp at Mt. McSauba.
