We built Villa Torres right next door to our friends at Villa Coronado. Building a house in Cozumel was quite an adventure in itself and having a large family, we spend as much time as possible at the house with our friends and family. We hope that if you choose to visit, you will have as great a time as we do, whether you just plan to relax and read at the pool, or explore the island. We have written a visitor's book in the house that lists great places to eat, shop or visit the beach. We hope that your stay at Villa Torres will give you many wonderful memories! We love Cozumel and have been traveling there with our children for years. They are as comfortable roaming the island as we are and consider it a second home. We love the local culture and enjoy the incredible snorkeling and diving right off the beach in front of our house.
We are located at Playa Uvas, walking distance to the beautiful Chankanaab National Park, conveniently located close to the southern reefs for diving and only minutes from fine dining in downtown San Miguel.
All in all, we had a maximum of 13 people (10 adults and 3 kids under 8) and we fit nicely. There were some pretty amazing realities that often when travelling aren't always true. Our beds were amazingly comfortable. The house was clean and had just about everything one would need. The proximity to the beach was literally across the street and many of us used it to swim and others as a quite place to have morning coffee.
As is with life, not everything went "perfect" which with so many people and their differing tastes makes complete sense. The owners however went out of their way to help fix any issues and did so in the least obtrusive way.
This part of the island was past the hectic scene of the cruise ships docking daily and much closer to the relaxing beach clubs. We walked to the Money Bar often as well as Playa Uvas or Chankanaab Park.
A few cons...hot tub wasn't heated, shower water pressure could be fairly weak depending on the room, had to take taxi more often than staying "downtown", and a few small other items.
Pros...proximity to beach, quiet and peaceful nights (could sleep with windows open to listen to waves), accessible owners to help with just about anything, and much more.
If and when we go to Cozumel again (was there for the Ironman which they may not host there moving forward) we would definitely look to stay in this house again! A 4-star was given because very little in life is perfect and not a knock on the house or ownership.
The house is great and very clean. Laurel was very helpful. Only drawbacks, jacuzzi was not heated. The guest house had musty odor and could use some updating. Nice snorkeling right off beach.
Wow! We stayed on the island at the house three years ago and everything was wonderful this time as well. I saw the comment from one of the earlier guests about the "musty smell" in the guest house, but both the main house and guest house were fresh, clean and beautiful!!! We love cooking in your kitchen and also visited the restaurants that were within walking distance. It is great to be able to walk one way to the Money Bar and walk the other way to the Sky Reef. The snorkeling in front of the house was totally amazing!!! Thank you so much and we will return!!!
Thanks for your follow up. We had a fabulous time. Villa Torres was perfect for our family. The house was clean and well maintained. Laurel was great she answered all our questions and we appreciated her help. Your home is beautiful and the rooftop hammocks and views were awesome. A favorite for our grand kids. We already are talking about coming back. We also loved Carlos opening up Coconuts and giving them to us for fresh coconut water. Villa Torres is a 5 star in our book!
We stayed at Villa Torres last year and brought family friends with us this year to share the experience. The house continues to be absolutely beautiful, comfortable, and immaculate! My in-laws enjoyed having their own space in the little casita where they could go for a siesta or have some down time away from the kids! The owners really do have every single amenity we could think of! The new gas grill was amazing and we had as great a time as we did last year! We will return as soon as possible!
The home was just as I expected from reviews and photos, beautiful! We loved having our own private space to hang out and lounge. The house was stocked with everything, including beach towels which was great. We walked to the money bar on numerous days to eat, snorkel, and enjoy great drinks. This is our fourth trip to Cozumel, and our first time at a private home so we were not sure what to expect. We loved the roof top terrace, we hung out and watched the stars and visited about the day with our family over cocktails. I would have given the home a 5 star except for a couple of issues. The Casita. Although it was adorable, and well stocked , the casita itself had such a musty odor, that the couple who were going to stay in it, had to move to the main house after the first night. The musty smell was in all their clothing, and suitcase which they had to air out. There were also small knats on the kitchen counter, and two of the inside bathrooms every day, but bug spray was provided. And lastly, the dishwasher leaked all over the floor, each time we used it. A repairman came to fix it one day, but it was back to leaking the next. Overall, these were minimal issues, but prevented me from giving the 5th star.
Tremendous snorkeling and shore diving directly in front of the villa, House is located on a beautiful piece of property that provides privacy for guests, One side of the house faces the ocean and the other side faces into the jungle, You are within walking distance to the beautiful Chankanaab National Park as well as 2 local restaurants.
