Why Yvette Shipman, Owner & Realtor chose Lake Tahoe North Shore

Welcome to what was my first Tahoe Home back in 1998! I am delighted to now be able to share it with you. Located in one of the West Shore's most beloved neighborhoods, Tahoe Pines is great for strolling to the beach, riding bicycles, and easy walks in the woods. It is a very sunny and friendly place. You just might get hooked. :-)

What makes this cabin unique

The back deck is lovely for coffee in the morning sunshine. There is a spacious mud room, makes for a handy "drop spot". The big dining room is a real luxury and leaves the living room more spacious than found in most cabins. The open upstairs bedroom enjoys lovely sun morning and afternoon, cross ventilation, it's own private half bath and makes for a great 2nd gathering space. Easy parking close to front door. Street level entry. Dog friendly neighborhood, beach and forest.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We're from San Francisco and we probably rent in Tahoe about 5 to 6 times a year. This cabin is probably my favorite rental over the last 10 years. I would rent from Yvette in a heartbeat. The cabin was a true feel of being in nature. It was sparkling clean! Most rental kitchens are hardly equipped to meet my needs and Yvette's kitchen had absolutely everything! It was fantastic to cook in every morning and evening. The rooms are super cozy. We're sensitive when it comes to mattresses and bedding and Yvette's bedrooms had plush warm comfortable bedding. The room upstairs is huge. Our 3 year toddler was able to sleep the first time w/ no bed guard rails in the trundle day bed and not ever fall out of bed. It was fantastic. The shower pressure was fantastic. The bedroom upstairs sleeps 4 (Queen/King bed, long couch, day bed w/ a trundle bed underneath). We have an english bulldog and the cabin was super dog friendly. It was great to leave the home and have him closed in a huge mud room w/ kennel, dog bed and toys. It was perfect for Leo. The only complaint was that the Wifi wasn't super strong, but in general that area of Homewood isn't strong. There were some moments it worked amazing and some moments it didn't. It was actually a blessing that it was not strong because I'm a workaholic and it was actually nice to really remove myself from work/technology and enjoy the cabin and our vacation. I loved this cabin so much that this wasn't really a negative at the end of the day. The icing on the cake was that Yvette brought over the most delicious cake. We went to a BBQ that night and brought it and everyone at the BBQ loved her cooking! I felt the price point for this cabin was fantastic. I'm heading up to Tahoe again Labor Day and was trying to figure out how to cancel my reservations with another home so I could rent from Yvette again. This place is absolutely #1 on my list to rent from again. No doubt about it!

Very much fits with the "log cabin" description. Rustic

  • 3 of 5

Yvette and Paul were very thorough with the reservation and eager to ensure we had a good stay. They ensured the snow was cleared and stated they were always available to be contacted during our stay should we require (we didn't). The cabin was warm and there was plenty of space. As a young family, the cabin didn't suit all our needs. We were told about the poor wifi (basically unusable) but I didn't realise there would be no cell phone reception either. So it was difficult to have any communication with the outside world - which is essential these days! I also found some of the "sharp" kitchen implements to be dangerously blunt. Thankfully no injuries but it made in-house meal preparation more challenging. The layout of the rooms and arrangement of heaters made it difficult to adequately heat the 2nd bedroom for our toddler in her crib, and the lighting was dim despite many lamps!

Despite these small things, if cozy, original log cabin is your style, and you really want an escape from everything, then I would recommend Yvette's cabin. I'm sure some of these issues are less important in the summertime!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the feedback. The good news is that the Wilson Electronics cell phone booster has been adjusted (I'm writing this reply from the cabin on my iPhone with four bars and 4G), we have sharpened the cooking knives, replaced a few burnt out lightbulbs which were in multi-bulb overhead fixtures, and brought in a higher capacity space heater for the second bedroom. All is operating once again as it should be. We strive for happy repeat customers and hope that we might be able to count you among them in the future. Ever so sincerely, Yvette and Paul

Cozy Cabin in the Snow

  • 5 of 5

There are many great places on VRBO and this place is among them. What sets it apart is the owner who will go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and help you out in case things don't go as planned (as happened to us - unrelated to cabin itself).

Winter wonderland

  • 5 of 5

I had a wonderful time with my wife, parents and dog at Yvette's and Paul's cabin. The place is extremely cozy and it kept us warm during a huge storm. I'm looking forward to going back :)

Wonderfull pre-Christmas week

  • 5 of 5

Yvette & Paul were wonderful hosts and surprised us with a warm welcome and home baked cake in their cozy cabin. Many Thanks!. This was a perfect place for our family short skiing vacation. The cabin is cozy, rustic and fully equipped with everything you need. A great location in walking distance from the lake and a short drive away from the best ski resorts in Tahoe.

Spent week of Thanksgiving and found the kitchen fully equipped with everything needed to prepare a holiday meal! Enjoyed the many updates to the cabin, especially the new windows in the bedroom. Such a lovely cabin - ideally located and beautifully maintained!

The cabin is at lake level with easy access to our quiet neighborhood beach, endless trails in Blackwood Canyon, West Shore Bike Path, bus stop ( Tahoe Area Rapid Transit TART to Incline Village NV, Tahoe Trolly to South Lake Tahoe via Emerald Bay, Homewood Ski Shuttle call-n-ride, Alpine Meadows Ski Shuttle from Sunnyside to Sherwood Chair on the Back-side of Alpine Meadows).

For those who enjoy riding bicycles, Barker Pass Road is just around the bend from Tahoe Pines off W Lake Blvd. This initially level road winds through woods, meadows, and over Blackwood Creek, they offers up one of the best practically car-free climb & downhill ride in Tahoe. It is an 8 mile beautifully paved road to Barker Peak.

Amazing Lake Views and Star gazing can ba had from Eagle Rock or our neighborhood beach.

Nature-walk enthusiasts will delight in the beautifully varied terrain available from the back of our neighborhood. Fairly flat the entire way (2 mile loop +) the walk along a fire road takes you through meadows, Aspen Groves, and passes many access points to Blackwood Creek (woof!).
