Best beach--best location--best value !!!.

Just a few steps through our tropical garden onto the calm,sandy 1/2 mile (1km) long and protected hoopers bay beach which is regarded as the best to stay on in exuma. Enjoy swimming, snorkeling, watching (or even feeding) the turtles or simply relaxing under the coconut tree whilst for the more active we have kayaks to explore the bay.

The studio in our modern villa 'coral sands' is completely self contained with it's own separate entrance and faces the beach. We have been renting 'coral sands' for many years on HomeAway and the reviews from the many very satisfied guests can be read on our main listing. The studio has a queen sized bed, bathroom with tub and shower, kitchenette with hot-plates,refrigerator, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee maker etc, dining and lounge area plus outdoor sundeck with table and chairs for relaxing or enjoying al-fresco meals. It is equipped with a/c, ceiling fan, flat screen TV, radio/CD player, and free, unlimited Wifi. If required, there is enough space for a crib or small bed for a child.

Located between the international airport ( 5 miles ) and georgetown ( 3 miles ) there are a variety of well stocked local shops within 5 minutes easy walk for groceries, butcher, deli, pharmacy and liquor. Therefore no long & expensive taxis from the airport, no long trips to the shops and just a short distance from a choice of restaurants.

Therefore great location and great value !!

We moved to live permanently in Exuma in 1999 from England upon our retirement. We live only 400 yards (300 metres ) away from Coral Sands and therefore personally welcome guests on arrival and are available in case of need for information etc whilst staying. Now with our combined 30 years of welcoming guests to Exuma we are able to offer the best suggestion to make the most of a visit to the island

Why Betty & Peter Oxley-owners and personal operators since 1999 chose Bahamas

After moving to the island in 1999 we looked for a beachfront plot of land where we could create our own personal dream home. In 2002 we found what we believe the ideal plot, not only situated on what is regarded as the best beach on the island but large enough to make a matching tropical garden. With the advantage of a slope on which to position the villa this also gave us the opportunity to maximise the beautiful views.

What makes this apartment unique

We used a notable architect to visit the island to fully appreciate the position and location before designing what we had in mind for a spacious, tropical villa for guests to enjoy. Whilst the whole design is for a very airey 3500 sq ft plus of outside covered sea-facing verandas and suitable for up to 8-10 guests we also wanted the design to appeal for smaller groups

Therefore we have 3 sections which are each separate, with their own entrances and these are suitable for groups of 2 people (the Studio), the 2 bedroom apartment for 4-5 people or the whole villa BUT all sections can be combined to give a complete impression of a single property.

All major rooms have large sliding glass doors which face the sea and lead to covered verandas for relaxing or enjoying al-fresco meals.

una settimana a exuma

Posto meraviglioso, tranquillo, molto pulito, fronte mare in mezzo alla natura.

Noi abbiamo alloggiato nell'appartamento al piano terra, il propietario (Peter) è una persona molto precisa e disponibile anche nel consigliare cosa vedere. Posto strategico per visitare l'isola, scoprire altre spiagge noleggiando un'auto (volendo se ne occupa Peter). La spiaggia davanti è fantastica (per noi la migliore dell'isola), grande e spesso deserta, si trova in una baia dove il mare è tranquillo, non ci sono ristoranti in spiaggia, per questo ottima per rilassarsi. Il mare ha dei colori stupendi dove si possono veder nuotare le tartarughe, si possono usare anche i kajak che Peter mette a disposizione.

Ci sono 2 market nelle vicinanze (circa 500mt) se si desidera arrangiarsi per il cibo, altrimenti per raggiungere i ristoranti ci vuole un'auto ( 3 km circa il più vicino, oppure 10 min per raggiungere George Town).

E' stata una vacanza indimenticabile e consigliamo assolutamente di soggiornare al Coral Sands!!!!

very very good

the apartment is directly on the beautiful coral bay beach, it is furnished with everything needed, kitchen is basic but functional. Peter, the owner, knows the island very well and all his prompts has been appreciated and let us to discover best places of the island. He cares about everything you need. Just some small negative points. Sometimes bathroom doesn't smell very well, and could be great if they provide for room cleaning at least. ( they do not provide it we staked a week). Just a prompt be ready for sandflies, that is a general problem of the island, so better to be there with anti mosquitos lotion or spray.

Ideal for a quiet getaway

This small but perfectly formed studio fitted the bill exactly. We were hoping for a quiet, relaxing break doing not very much and that's exactly what we got. The studio is ideally placed just metres from a gorgeous beach and with a lovely garden to wander in. Peter is very helpful and knows the island well so was able to advise on everything from shop opening times to interesting places to visit and good places to eat. Nothing was too much trouble. Smittys shop is a short walk away, along with a liquor store and for food try Shirley's and Santannas. A day out with Robert's island excursions to see the swimming pigs and drink Goombay smash on the sandbar is a real must. I'd definitely recommend this property!

The studio apartment for 2 was everything that it said it would be but the surrounding gardens and beach were absolutely beautiful! Peter was very accommodating and helpful when it came to renting mopeds, signing up for boating day trips, etc. The apartment had all the necessities and was well maintained. This rental was the perfect place for my husband and I for our honeymoon. We were close to town yet stayed on an almost empty beach! I will highly recommend family and friends to rent this property.

Paradise Found!!!...

We stayed at the beautiful Coral Sands villa in March 2015 and could not have asked for a better vacation. Everything was perfect!

The studio apartment is right on the Hoopers Bay beach! After exploring Exuma’s beaches we can say with confidence that Hoopers Bay beach is the best: secluded, quiet, private, great for long walks, white powder sand and calm turquoise water. We would just walk out of the apartment and through the garden straight onto the beach. There were never more than ten people on the entire stretch of the beach.

The apartment is basic, but nice and clean. Comfortable bed, great water pressure and important to mention – drinking water straight from the tap! The best part - you wake-up with a view of blue, turquoise water and white sand straight from you bed!

Our hosts, Betty and Peter Oxley, are absolutely fantastic! They live close by and are very accessible and reliable. They are very attentive and take care of every single aspect of your stay… they even arranged for basic groceries for us (as we arrived Sunday pm when grocery stores were closed). We are very grateful for everything!

Location of the property is perfect - about 7-10 min walking distance to the general grocery store & pharmacy (Smitty’s) in one direction and same distance to the meats/seafood store in the other direction. About 10 min drive from the Airport and about 5-7 min drive to Georgetown.

The island is beautiful with many breathtaking beaches and very friendly people. Lots of places to eat most are right along the shore and some are beautiful spots to watch sunsets.

In overall a GREAT holiday! We will definitely return, hopefully sometime soon!

The Hoopers Bay area is the most convenient on the island as it is only 10 minutes from the airport and 6 minutes from the capital, Georgetown. A range of well stocked local shops are within 5 minutes easy walk.

Besides the beautiful beach in front of the property, other beaches are nearby whilst from Georgetown, the regular water taxi goes several times a day (taking 15 minutes and roundtrip ) to Stocking Island with miles of safe and calm beaches and the famous 'Chat and Chill' beach bar/restaurant.
