Friendly responsive owner, ski in/out

We rented this condo for February vacation week. Owner was friendly and very responsive to questions. She was five star. Unit was very clean and bed was quite comfortable, which was a pleasant surprise. Owner refunded our deposit promptly. Kitchen was quite well equipped for a rental and the oven preheated super fast.

Property is true ski in and out, IF there is enough natural snow. Sugarbush does not make snow on the condo to lift trail. This is obviously not unique to the unit. All the units in the large complex have the same issue.

So why not five stars? Because of the condo complex as a whole, relative to the price of the rental.

The stairwell and upstairs neighbors were extremely loud. The units lack washer dryers, and I lived in fear of breaking the very fragile insulating shades in the living room.

I understand the need for the special shades given the electric heat in the building, but the association really needs to install much sturdier cords or maybe even an electric raise and lower switch for these shades.

Owner's Response: I am pleased that the guest found the unit comfortable and adequately equipped. Unfortunately the weather that week was an issue with the "Out to Lunch Trail" . Generally, there is enough snow cover to use this trail that can be used to ski back to the condo. The good news was that Sugarbush made enough snow to have all trails open - the most in the northeast. The one bedroom units in this complex do not have washers and dryers and so a washer and dryer are not listed for our unit on Home Away.

Great little Place but security deposit issue

The owner was very friendly and responsive. True ski in/out. Everything was great aside for 2 things. First of all the fire place is not active. There is a TV in front of it (not a big deal). My bigger issue was the unfair lack of full security deposit reimbursement. We followed all of the check out instructions to a T including stripping the beds, turning of the hot water, scrubbing the counters. and taking out the garbage. HOWEVER $50 of our deposit was not returned due to 1 kitchen pot being slightly dirty (in the dish washer) , we put a blanket back in the closet unfolded, and they claim we left the thermostat on 80 which I know for fact is simply not true. You would assume the cleaning person could clean 1 not so dirty pot. As I said, great place for a ski trip but just DO NOT expect your security back. I have rented over a dozen condos over the last 10 years and never had an issue like this.

Owner's Response: I wish to respond to this renter's review. There is no working fireplace in the unit. The listing does not have a fireplace included. Unfortunately, ALL fireplaces in this complex have been sealed as a result of a fire that took place in the third building two years ago. The Fire Marshal ordered that all the fire places in the complex could not be used. Our Board had the fireplaces sealed. The person who checks the unit and cleans it reported back to me , the day this party left, the condition in which she found it. All the thermostats were turned all the way up. The dirty pot was not the big issue. The glass top of the stove had burnt on material which would not come off. The burners must have been used reheating and baking on whatever was left on the glass top making it very difficult and time consuming to clean.Something like soda had been sprayed on the cabinets, counter and floor in the kitchen.Everything was sticky. The cabinet doors, handles and insides had to be scrubbed down. The furniture had to be put back in place and the contents of the linen closet had to be folded and put back in. More than an extra hour was required to clean the unit. I don't look forward to keeping money from a security deposit, but I do have to cover the cost of cleaning that is required over and above normal cleaning which I cover in the rental. Over the years, renters have left this unit in good condition. I strive to maintain the unit in good order for people who rent it. This includes providing a neat and clean environment. This is the first time I have had the unit left with this kind of mess.

Everything we really needed!

3 of us stayed here for 4 days from in Feb this year and we really enjoyed this place! I'm all about clean... and it was indeed clean, neat, and definitely somewhere we're going back to next year. Sooo close to the slopes and good supply of hot water and heat. Cozy Fireplace w/ lots of firewood provided. Owner is very nice and it was a great experience dealing with them. Very professional and willing to offer you as much information about their place and the surrounding area. We love Sugarbush and will be going back this weekend with 8 people in tow for some Spring snowboarding.

The Mad River Valley is in the heart of ski country. Two of the biggest are Sugarbush and Mad River Glen. Sugarbush has two interconnecting peaks with a 2600 foot vertical. Lessons, daycare and shops are available to make your stay enjoyable. Nearby is a cross country ski center. There are many fine restaurants, a sports center. In the summer enjoy the outdoor heated pool. Sugarbush's Robert Trent golf course, tennis courts, hiking and mountain biking are all close by. In the fall, the foliage is spectacular. People come from all over to witness this fabulous sight. In nearby Waterbury is the famous Ben & Jerry's factory that is open to the public for tours.
